@dalekarmy because he can't control someone into doing something they would never do/think ordineraly, the note has its limits, ie his test with the criminals in the 2nd manga he got one to run to the bathroom and die, but he couldnt get 1 to write something on the wall he didnt believe.

@qooqies15 u haven't watched Death Note? write someone's name in the book with their face in mind, and they die within 40 seconds. details of their death can also be written. in this case, more time to write is given. it's sick and I do mean literally. but the Wammy's orphanage boys r what really makes the show, they're cool and cute. and intelligent.

near is only twelve when he was apeared in wammy's he's birthday was aug. 24 1993 then 16 after 4yrs. so in the one - shot after 3 yrs near was 19 as the appearance on mello and matt 's age in some part of their series mello is 4 yrs. older dan near and matt is 3 yrs... older than him near only looks so young but you can see changes when you observ his face and its shape...... he just look lot young dough he is stil playng toys and never went out a plane ride alone yet ..tus his hair is white XD

Near was 13 before the timeskip, at the Wammy House. When he appeared as part of the SPK, he was 17-18 years old, and he is 21 in the post series one-shot.......why does everyone keep on thinking Near is so young? after the time skip (which was 4 years) passed after L's death, its pretty obvious that he would've grown older, despite his appearance. Near just didn't really hit a growth spurt at this time yet

@beatbeast777 Near is a pacifist, so he wouldn't kill anyone. the guy shot himself after pointing the gun at Near, 'cuz with a Death Note, u can't make someone kill someone else, and yet this guy was obviously under it's control, meaning the way he dies must've been written. so, instead of a heart attack it was a suicide.

@sanctuary0o0 The plot is mostly unchanged save for some minor details. (For instance, the killing of the SPK above was originally due to Mello's stolen death note - here, Mikami and Takada team up much sooner and do it themselves.)

Well, I guess how minor all of that is depends on how much you like the characters that get more screentime :-)
