1)We would *not* be going to war with North Korea. We would be going to war against the military junta of Kim Jong Il and the KWP. We would bomb only military targets, and if possible only targetting high-ranking officers and party members, since the govt. treats its own soldiers like sh*t and they would probably mutiny if they realize there is a real potential of their country being liberated.
If US forces were to liberate North Korea, our job wouldn't end with the KPA surrender. We would have to make the same level of commitment we made in the Marshall plan, to rebuilding the whole country and helping its citizens recover. Since the mid 90s NKorea has lost over 10% of its population from state-created famine. we don't know the exact number of people murdered in concentration camps like Yodok but the humanitarian situation is one of the worst in the world.
I agree that US inaction in the face of this regime's atrocities against its own people- and its blatant acts of war against its neighbors- is both a strategic failure and a grave moral error. Seriously, just search on youtube for Korean DMZ and you'll see why the USA doesn't have anything in North Korea, it's simply because USA doesn't want to start world war 3.

@Samperor ---------->I come from a NAM country, which DPRK's a part of and I supplied finished leathers to DPRK. I visited in the 80s when we had decent commerce level w/ them. We can still visit, but level of commerce has dropped (understandably) since 1990s.
ASEAN and Western passports have a hard time getting in and need special intermediaries 2 get in because they're home countries share a not so friendly relationship w/ North Korea.
