  • Sorry, finger slipped. Intended to thumbs up & comment initially! This is my most favorite Monk piece!! Thank you for posting

  • WOW! Thelonious Monk, Charlie Rouse, Lary Giles and Ben Riely Experience the Brilliance.

  • Monk takes the scrap notes and chords others won't play and makes music out of them. Yeah, like ugly beauty. Makes sense cause it don't make sense...or something like that. Only Monk could do it.

  • Thelonious Monk | Ugly Beauty | Underground | 1967 | with Charlie Rouse

  • Peace to the god

  • Monk was a cool mutha fuka. ALL DUE RESPECT.....

  • awesome.perfect.cool and real.

  • One of the few times Monk played in waltz time, the other was on a Blue Note date a tune called Carolina Mooon. In my opinion their is nothing Ugly about it a very pretty and seldom played composition.Love the way the great Charlie Rouse plays in the upper register on his horn.Nice solo by Eric Gales on bass.Out chorus Monk and and Charlie sound in perfect unison

  • What a GREAT composition...Monk is the man!

  • wow, did someone notice there's a swastika on the flag behind monk?¿?¿ Or it is not?¿?

    That's really weird

  • The album is called "Underground" as in the WW2 french underground, there's also a tied up german officer next to said flag

  • @DajaWaja that's monk

  • @DajaWaja Yes, it's a mirror image. Watch also the Wehrmacht officer who has been tied to his chair. I doubt whether Monk had any saying in the cover design.

  • @DajaWaja There's a nazi general tied side by the flag, and Monk has Machine Gun like he's in the control of the situation.

  • q temazo, no sabia q lo habian colgado.

    Quue precioso waltz

  • The LP sounds even better

  • Super song. Now if I can just find the record.

  • You can get it..Cd format. LP I'm not so sure about...maybe Japanese Import.

  • @pfaessel1 not true at all
