  • where shall i buy the sorbitol? just go into an ordinary shop? or a chemical-shop?

  • @robogepinthe Iron oxide is rust

  • is the making nozzles video up yet?

  • You can get KNO3 from several places:

Most Pharmacies sell it as 'Saltpeter', at around $3 for 8oz

Many hardware stores sell it as Stump Remover (Spectracide from Lowe's, etc) for about $6/lb

Some Greenhouses sell it in 50lb bags (Hydroponics section)

You can buy it off of Ebay for ~$2-$6lb

-OR- you could buy it by the ton as fertilizer, 13-0-46 KPN (and similar KPN)

  • Good to see all the safety precautions he is taking, Gloves, Mask, eye protection ... NOT, Surprised you weren't coughing up a lung, This stuff is BAD for your lungs .. Irritated lungs, Blood disease .. .... Research first man !

  • At 3:30 you could just pass it all through a sifter several times.

  • 6:34 look like ketchup? :D

  • who can i red iron oxider buy?

  • where would one aquire 356 mg of potassium nitrate? (KNO3)

  • where to get kno3 ?

  • fucking hell you got a lot of chemicals ! dont you think its a bit dangerous to have that much in your house ?

  • @nssurge None of it is dangerous. Infact it's edible

  • @ThatAdelaideGuy not when theres a fire near it its not !

  • your hands are so... chubby

  • tou have chubby hands

  • 0:36 Someones been to Taco Bell.

  • why coundnt you just talk, your video camera has audio!

  • so you need to go to the toilet many many times. what is recommended to eat ?

  • shouldn't you make holes in the rocket grains when the propellant isn't cold yet?

  • whats sorbitol??

  • So where's part II?

  • 3:57 is that your window fly mesh net...?

  • Interesting and educational. I hope you wear safety equipment and keep a fire extinguisher handy.

  • A griddle

  • What is the heated tray you're using called also?

  • Where can I get sorbitol? What might it be named as a product if in shops.

  • u wouldnt hapen to want to sell some of those would u?

  • where to get KNO3? :)

  • So... for the sorbitol, you could use sugar instead?

  • @weirdone17 you're an idiot....kno3 is used in making sausages and Chinese foods as well.

  • 3:30 u do know its bad to touch kno3 with your bare hands... right? it can cause chemical burns...

  • @weirdone17 idiot...i work with KNO3 with my bare hands and i have never gotten the slightest bit of chemical burns

  • where do you find red iron oxide???

  • @nickmflores2 ever tought of rust?

  • @nickmflores2 Potters supplies. They use it in glazes. You can buy it by the kilogram.

  • Great video, thanks! Have you ever tried xylitol instead of sorbitol?

  • ok, So basicaly you can make sorbitol by cocking sugarfree sugar? nice. The kitchen is calling me, i'll post the result ;)

  • @MegaArthur1981 I think the sugarfree sugar IS sorbitol.

  • awesome

  • What's sorbitol?

  • @Zeppelinfaktor it´s sugar alcohol

  • can you add more red iroon oxide to increase the burn rate by a lot? like a lot a lot?

  • hey what's for din- BOOM

  • where did you get that big pan thing?!

  • Sorbitol is a sweetener used by people with diabetes.

It's also known as "sugarfree sugar", it can be bought at almost any supermarket. Or at the pharmacy. Please thumb up, so other can get the message!

  • @GiggleGuyz its a laxitive to!!!!!

  • @GiggleGuyz is that in america of australia

  • is the fuel still wet wen u put it into the moulds

  • Comment removed

  • @cl4540 not really wet, so much so as still a fluid (wet refers to water content) it can be poured

  • @GiggleGuyz Do they sell it under another name?

  • @GiggleGuyz thank you sir :)

  • big sive

  • Ok seriously what the fuck is sorbitol!!! iv looked high an low for this thing, i hope its not a USA only product.

Someone mentioned artificial sweetener but that definitely wasnt the case as when i tried cooking that up it just burnt.

Someone must know where this product can be found or extracted from - this is obviously a way better way than the hairy boiling of sugar + kno3.

Someone please answer lol? I also call this this comment to be thumb'd up for all others in this boat.

  • I only know how to manufacture gun powder.. This is completely new. Will try it.

What is a good action cam to mount on a rocket??

  • so sorbitol liquifies alot better than powdered sugar, is that true? Also, were can you buy sorbitol?

  • so sorbitol liquifies alot better than powdered sugar, is that true?

  • Do you have to melt the fuel or will it burn relatively well without heating?

  • @dandan832 Lower Heat. Add More Sugar. Anything other than adding more KN03... Thats the flammable-ish Stuff.

  • @HazardGamingNation I meant, will the motor burn with just powdered fuel, or does it have to be heated and then cooled?

  • @dandan832 xS I replied to Bunnt153649... Oh well. TO ignite to fuel, you can either make a small ignition by some Foil / Aluminum and two wires seperated to cause a spark. Or you can make a small fuse and just ignite it.

  • Good tutorial. I love your no-talking/no-bullshit approach to tutorials, it's one of the best how-tos I've ever seen.

  • Where is the part 2 ? "Making the nozzles ?"

  • WHAT FAT HANDS

  • Sorbital? Why the hell is there sorbital in the sugar?

  • f*** where did you get so alot of kno3? =O

  • Where is the part 2 of thise tutorial ?

  • where can i buy sorbitol? plz reply

  • @2211skatepark defenatly not on ebay cos they might sell you something like salt in stead of sorbitol

  • @snaylionid ahh ok thx for reply

  • very nice. looks yummy. seems much easier to work with than dextrose

  • Hmmm...I can hear you breathing...But you don't talk...

  • great vid man!

  • I'm making a sugar rocket propelled grenade :D

That is a Sugar RPG :)

  • The first mention of sugar nitrate I remember was in Capt. Bertrand Brinley's "Rocket Manual for Amateurs" which Ballantine Books put out as a paperback in 1960. This kicked off the zinc-sulfur rocket fad, which IMHO, did a lot to retard progress in amateur propellant research.

Those suckers burned 90-inches a second and sounded like a train crash when they took off. Recovery was by shovel and winch.

See the history of the RRS for info.

Performance (Isp) was less than 1/2 of blackpowder.

  • The red iron oxide may be disguising the fact that if you cook sugar nitrate too long, you start driving off the oxygen and seriously reducing the delivered specific impulse. This is easily seen when cooking KNO3 and regular sugar. As the color gets darker, the propellant get almost useless. The best color is light to medium beige. That's what worked for me in the 80's. But with a strong red color, I don't see how you could observe when you're seriously overcooking.

  • lol i did this and it expoloded and was loud i would like to see you launch one and but a flashing fire work and the top like a flare

  • gah ur like a drug dealer but with little rockets instead of dubies lol

  • physco making 49 toilet things no effence but really is that much needed?

  • I'm wondering if this would work using an ordinary oven if i opened the door occasionally to stir the mix?

  • He keeps the Rocket fuel next to Monopoly

  • where can i find all the matrials ??

  • why you dont add water and the sweet thing ?

  • where is iron oxide used for ?

  • @zakamooza it is used in thermite n in rocket fuel speeds up the burn rate

  • where can i buy sorbitol?

  • @MrPillyg its sugar just a different type id just use plain sugar

  • @MrPillyg its sugar just a different type id just use plain sugar and when ur cooking it it helps to heat the pan up and add the sugar without kno3 and add a little drop of water just to get it started melting then add the kno3

  • @breckenridge21 i know its sugar. I just dont know where to get it but its ok.

  • @MrPillyg how can u not know where to get sugar from

  • @246dc642 no im wondering where to get sorbitol. its not plain table sugar. thats sucrose

  • whats sorbitol. thx it helped

  • Great work.

  • maybe you can leave links to more info part because it takes littlebit time to find next part

  • Can we see a demo on how they perform?

  • jonijenny1; No! Sorbitol is sugar! Baking Soda is Sodium Bicarbonate.

PuringtonSFC; Will adding copper oxide and barium sulfate increase the burn rate beside coloring the exhaust flame blue and green? Where is pt. 2 on making exhaust?!?

  • One question: I know, where I can get KNO³ from, but what´s the problem with sugar? What would happen, if you would use pure sugar? I think I can get the Sorbitol from eBay, but maybe it works with sugar, too ;)

  • According to wikipedia (caution) aka GLUCITOL

This article needs additional citations for verification. (July 2009)

Sorbitol, also known as glucitol, is a sugar alcohol that the human body metabolises slowly. It can be obtained by reduction of glucose, changing the aldehyde group to a hydroxyl group.

    Molecular formula C6H14O6

    Molar mass 182.17 g mol−1

    Density 1.489 g/cm³

    Melting point 95 °C

    Boiling point 296 °C

  • wish i live near you..:D

  • Hello, is sorbitol the same as baking powder? I used baking powder in my attempt and every time I went to melt down the mixture it would puff up and not be liquidey

  • godam this ilucid sorbitol. people have told me it is atificial sweetner? but this is not it.. dang - any other suggestions? not im not in USA

  • were can i get sorbitol ??

  • You didn't show the launch:(

  • Have you ever had a pan fire! and does it smell?

  • your arms are rly fat :)

  • To help not catch the shit on fire add sum karo syrup and water, it still might blow up though :D

  • whats kno3 and sorbitol?

  • @xxdray2xx Whats Google?

  • @Hismathefirst i never said google o.o

  • Damn U got tonnes of the stuff. Ur way better thn NASA!!!

  • can this stuff burn when melting it? like cooking eggs and lettitng them sit to long in one spot?

  • "super time lapse!"

  • was the heat on while you were filling them

  • what does KNO3 and Sorbitol mean?

  • @AcidMuncy96 KNO3 = potassium nitrate, sorbitol has something to do with the sugar, dunno exactly :s

  • Comment removed

  • Themperature should never be above 325 deg F (sucrose) and 250 deg F for sorbitol (215 is perfect).

You MUST use a thermostatically controlled electric skillet, fryer, or whatever this thing is.

I use a "presto multi cooker" that I got at Walmart.

Also: do some damn research before attempting again. Read EVERYTHING at Richard Nakkas website and Jimmy Yawns website.

Doing anything without knowing what you are doing (what you obviously did) is fucking stupid and can get you and others hurt.

  • @bunny153649 lower the temp. hope dis helps :)

  • @bunny153649 u got it to hot ?

  • @bunny153649 Try using two pans, with a wax in the bottom pan to allow for more even heating instead of temperature spikes. Temp spikes will ignite propellant.

  • @bunny153649....i think you use much fire to cook....

  • @bunny153649 add water and lower the heat alot + stir constantly

  • had this same problem your doing probably using a lighter to do it you cant use contact it needs to be transfer heat so just get a hot plate and put it on low

  • @bunny153649 Are you using an open flame to heat the pan? If so then switch to electric with a temperature dial on it, far better heat control.

  • @bunny153649 COOK IT SLOWER.

  • @bunny153649 You were cooking it with too high of a heat on the stove, low and slow :)

Hope this helps! I nearly lit my kitchen on fire doing this lol

  • @bunny153649 only put it up to 220 degrees.

  • @bunny153649 watch your temp i suggest a griddle if you dont have one

  • @bunny153649 If yout going to cook anything, do it outside, aways have something ready to put any fires out.

and always turn the flame down to the lowest.

  • @bunny153649 you may have figured it out by now but turn your heat down, do not use a flame as a heat source (buy a cheap hot plate with heat settings) and it should be as easy as that. you MUST keep it moving aswell.

  • @bunny153649 how to cook it? i never tried it with sorbitol, only with common sugar, but i think it would work: use smoke bomb tutorial :D

  • nice!

  • can u burn the stuff on the griddle? that would be bad if u could.

  • For the record. If anyone was wondering where to get some KNO3 or some sorbitol. When I make mine I use Stump Remover from Home Depot and C&H Pure Cane Sugar from the grocery store. Works like a charm :)

  • Comment removed

  • @waycoobeens What is the sorbitol? the C&H Pure Cane Sugar or the stump remover?

  • @mygameissick09 ya the sorbitol is the Pure Cane Sugar and the Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) is the Stump Remover.

    :)

  • The fast parts remind me of The Sims xD

  • how many celsius is 250 farenheit?

  • @kmncztms I think 135 but I'm not sure don't remember the formula to convert sorry.

  • @kmncztms

    121.111111111111 ( 1 periodic )

  • @chilovat thx :)

  • @kmncztms

    105-110 or so...I think.

  • need more red iron oxide, ur little pinch wont do shit. use 1-5% by weight for the mixture as a whole

  • where the hell is part two!?

  • where the hell is part2 !? there is part one and part three only!!

  • what is sorbital and where can i get it?

  • excellent video, VERY clear! thank you for uploading!

  • thats amazing

  • looks yummy

  • Cool vid i like how you speed it up makes it more watchable :)

  • do you need an inhaler?

this isnt very vigorous work yet you are panting rather heavily.

  • FAKE! it sped up

  • you think this ill work how much output?

  • nice bro!

  • fkn sick man.... fkn sik

    's all I got

  • if u add other powers ex. al

    BOOM your face explodes

  • Comment removed

  • hamas does this no joke search it

  • IS SORBITEL SUCER???

  • my sucker dont burn?????...

  • where can i get Sorbitol?

  • lmao sims rocket science

  • You really should measure the RIO, then characterize your propellant. Accuracy for the sake of repeatability. If the percentage of burn rate catalyst varies, the properties of the propellant vary with it, yielding inconsistent results. Not to mention the major CATO that will happen when you use just a taste too much.

  • where can i find sorbitol??

  • Dont you need a center hole in the sugar motor for a good burn? Like about ¼ for t size on here.

  • do you need sorbital or can you use pure potassium nitrate

  • @buttyh0 it not burn on its own ?

  • Awesome vid man well done
