never understood why Hugh Cornwall and The Stranglers were always mentioned alongside bands like The Damned, Sex Pistols and The Clash in regards to their impact on and place within the early British "punk" genre, and I never really got into The Stranglers like I did the other three, but this song is really quite good
@AdamCoffin13 i would highly recommend the black and white album, still stands head and shoulders above anything out there at the moment, then again that wouldnt be too hard. still its worth a listen. oh and the first ratuss norvigicuss
The only SUN that is bad is the Newspaper, fook yir Global warming (so they can tax you more) Skin cancer deaths have`nt increased (we used to get better summers and no one said fook all then), Dont be foooled by scare mongering, Thurs Always the Sun, Always, Always, Always the Sun
Try to love each other everybody, cause you can't live with hate all your life about something,we are just travellers in this life, thats why try to take as much juice you can out of it,cause if you live it,like that, its gonna dry and its going to fade away, carpe diem=seize the day, like Robin Williams says in one movie the "Dead Poets Society",forever optomistic, always the sun
What a wonderful guitar solo and a beautiful melody and rhythm. This song makes you feel grateful for being human. I also like Hugh Cornwell in this video and the vulnerabiltiy and the graveness about him. Sexy!
I was in the army first days when I first listen to this song,it lift me up completely and keep me going through the shit I was going through, its phenomeno, just awesome, money can't buy that feeling
Get it? Always the sun....shooting out a sun based calender. I don'tthink they meant any offense to aztec culture. If one gets picky, why is the nuke button a doorbell?LOL RSRSRS
It's funny how the band could be from Brighton or Barcelona, as soon as a major label (i.e. American) gets ahold of them everything turns into Mike & The Mechanics. Sheez.
Sorry, my Spanish is pretty well non-existant but the intro seems to suggest that The Stranglers were 1980's New Romantics. As far as I'm concerned they were nothing of the sort. I saw them twice live in 1978 during the back end of UK Punk scene.
ha ha England rules the world in football that's very funny. since when mate 1966 I can agree with the music. but football come on your having a laugh mate.
god bless....nice song you choose .....yes always the sun and always another side off life ...he will be safe on the other side. and looking out for you all ...southampton.
when my father passed away on his 77th birthday. my wife vanessa called a request hotline while we were on holiday in the states and dedicated this song to my father and me because he was one of the few people that always gave a glimmer of hope. petger o'malley 1928-2005 an irishman through and through.
this song is a gem... it's in my TOP 50 BEST SONGS OF ALL TIME. maybe there are lots better... but not to me. i know it's a big call... but the way the world is now since the writing of this.... the song grows in meaning to me every year. a quality masterpiece.
I agree. . .I heard that the band did not like this video. . .my first reaction was that it was great. The way the video is cut it looks very dramatic when he raises the gun and pushes the knob. Maybe they thought it was too literal of an interpretation of the lyrics? I like this video a lot. (and the sound quality is great)
I like it a lot too. But, this idea came to my mind a few minutes ago and see if you follow me here, the Stranglers may not have liked it because of the frontman's curse: a good deal of this vid's footage closes up on Hugh, in detriment -especially- of Jet Stream.
Yeah, I think that could be true. The band may have thought that he would become their spokesman and they would be like voiceless "yes men". That does happen a lot in bands. I always feel bad for the members who dont get to say anything.
It was really great to find this..:) I had forgotten all about The Stranglers..!! How could I!!? :) They were one of the best bands around when I was growing up...Thank goodness for some real lyrics...To hear some decent song writing..:) Cheers Boys !!XXOO!!
This song is so much deeper then people give credit. In todays, Idol produced music you don't hear the lyrics like we used to get, some good did come in the 80s and 90s.
some people goof this band for this song cause its not like there old stuff and pop or whatever but a good song is a good song .just like there old shit is bomb. always the sun and the stranglers
