The black taxi and the silver car had green light but the taxi stopped so they were aware of the sirens but the silver car probably thought the sirens were behind them and continued through the lights but why didn't the silver car stop like the taxi or was the driver not concentrating so the firefighter driving the appliance shouldn't be jailed and fired for somethin which wasn't his fault
This is all wrong. When you are given the responsibility of driving an emergency vehicle you are trained to ignore "red mist", to detach yourself from the emotion of the incident you are attending.
It would appear this is a blind junction for both vehicles, so regardless of how urgent the incident is at the other end, the fire tender should have slowed until he was 100% certain it was clear, both directions. As an advanced driver he should have foreseen the hazard on approach to the red light,
well whats the point of feeling bad for the fire fighter, the father of the family is no dead, just seen the picture of the couple in the news paper sad i tell u husband dead n wifes neva bin the same she gt 4 kids to look after but whose gna look after her.
As has had been said: It's both their faults as it is clear the fire engine didn't slow down enough to take this junction however the silver car is also at fault for being blind, deaf and above all things stupid.
all though yes the fire appliance should have slowed down your first intinct as a firefighter going to house a fire is that is there people in there? is there kids? you try and get there as fast as possible and yes the appliance should have slowed down but the driver should be aware when there is sirens going and take extra care especially at a junction so its not the firefighters fault. nore is it the cars fault but the firefighter had more things racing through his mind
motorolla73 you are not a firefighter you are a clown wanting to be one no firefighter in the world would say his job is a toss off and as a firefighter myself it is hard sometimes when your faced with difficult situations oh but you wouldnt know cos you just pretend your one....WHAT A CLOWN!!!!!
so everytime i go through a red light i need to stop and check a fire engine is not coming?
Let me break this down for you.....
Firemen are bellends. I live next to a fire station and they spend all day washing their nice new cars out the front on the restricted parking lines. Then when they are called out they take a short cut down a 30mph residential road going 60mph instead of taing the main road that is nearer and easier.
By the time they put a fire out it has burned out anyway
first thing is both were wrong, because the fire fighter driving the fire engine should have slowed down but also the driver of the car should have slowed down aswell or maybe stopped like the other car did. second thing is when you hear a siren going you slow down and look in your mirrors and if you don't see them you double check its common sense. i do feel for the family and for the firefighter but everyone makes mistakes, i know its someones life but these firefighter are under stress 24/7
Families that never made it to the doors in time?
All these things stay with a firefighter for life not matter how hard it is. For example the firefighter might think what if he did this better. what if he put out the fire faster? this all can leave stress on any firefighter.
@motorolla73 i aint carry on nothing im telling you. how do you know if it stresses you out 24/7 ? have you been in that position? and you cant just get over it you stupid prick unless your some soulless prick which i bet you are.
@irockbox At the speed that that fire engine was going, by the time the silver car bolted out from the cross street it would not have the room to stop. Rather hit the car hard enough to get it out of the way then hit it at a lesser speed and end up pushing it down the street.
@Kiyl24 I totally understand your point but i work for the LFB and drive a appliance and 99% of people really don't think twice when they see us coming or hear us. There are a load of people bitching at me because of my comments on this video and fair enough. But i see RTC's every weak but when their friend gets hurt in this case by a 12+ton fire appliance and the driver later died months on i believe, they accuse the Fire Service for everything. But the truth is both were equally in the wrong.
hey u guys this was not a joke, look it was a tragic accident, i know the family who suffered this, and its the fire fighters fault this occured, why did they drive on and ignore the other road users....
as a former firefighter in luton, my condolences go out to all involved, especially the family of the bereaved. if you cant post anything sensibile, dont post anything at all.

@motorolla73 what do you do as a living?
have you seen people burnt?
have you seen people dead burnt in there beds?
little children suffocated in there beds?
Families that never made it to the doors in time?

@ad130608 It's not all the firefighter's fault, the other car had plenty of warning. Don't take sides.

@ad130608 if it slowed down the fire engine probably would have crashed into it
