But I love this song. The melody on the chorus is really simple but really nice, and I love the driving rhythm section there. Jars of Clay could do with more songs like this.

I totally understand your perspective. Recently I've gone through a really rough patch that has left me seeking God more than I ever have. In the midst of that, though, I found that my snobby view toward Christian music melted away. It's not that I lowered my standards, but rather I focused more on the message rather than the skill of the music. When life starts pounding on you, the right message is more important than what we consider "good music."
