i dont know whether the staistics were genuine or not but i am sure that this was positive message of encouragement sent throughout the countrymen to increase the confidence in their country....

For some reason, it tends to be romanticized and sanitized for our consumption here in the West .But from what I've heard and seen, most Westerners who do travel there are not prepared for the sheer magnitude and pervasiveness of the squalor and grinding poverty. Its just a very miserable,overcrowded big SLUM.
