  • Who would have ever thought that Bruce would cover a song from 1867?!! I love it, and a couple of "F" bombs don't bother me. His band does great adding a circus atmosphere. One question though. Can anyone tell me what that contraption is on his right hand?

  • oh for the love of-- Come on now, the falsified accent is just plain damn embarassing. Bad enough ya foul it up with the slower music and the infernal swearing.

  • @TheGreatVarholy Upon hearing it several times over, I will admit that I was mistaken in my previous comment. This is fairly accurate and, while lacking the full orchestral accompaniment, it still has its own unique charm to it. Not to mention this is actually the full version of the song not the abbreivated version one is used to.

  • Funny, how this always sounded like such a fumy, happy, bouncy song. Until you listen to the lyrics, that is; then you realize it's a very sad song instead. Hmm.

  • @FrankeeFraud many old folk songs and ballads are like that. for example, all my life i loved the song Clementine though i never paid the lyrics much mind. then i listened to them and what do ya know? its about Clementine's dad or lover (depending on the point of view) not being able to save poor Clementine from drowning. but i think theres something enchanting about a sad song sung in a somewhat happy tone u know? it gives it an extra spark in my opinion.

  • As a circus and sideshow performer this moved me to near tears. Absolutely beautiful. Having the BOSS singing one of my all time faves. WOW. You still got it Bruce.

  • I am a nice person. Nice people , if they can't say anything nice, they don't say anything at all. I'm taking a shutup.

  • omg he got old

  • classic

  • Very Musical and follows the original lyrics (with two very notable exceptions). Is this available on CD I cant find it in itunes.

  • I agree completly the old western is crap its a song from the early 1900s this fake western accent dosent apply at all

  • @Hajiftw It's a British song from 1867.

  • Bruce needs to get back to his original voice - its like he's trying too hard to sound like Dylan or Guthrie...?

  • But that's how he started out in the early 70s before born to run came out.. they were comparing him to dylan.. Bruce was once folk

  • I was at this magical show. Great version of the song. Seems like Bruce is checking the monitor when looking down for the lyrics. The Seeger Session shows were some of the best concerts I have ever seen.

  • was at this show amazing performance of the song

  • A great song of The Boss, thanks for sub!!

  • sorry, but Popeye did a better job.

  • Brilliant Song from Bruuuuuuuuce!!!

    He is a God!!!!

  • During the opening of "Magic" concerts w/ the organ, this is the the song.

  • wonderful! I like it when many people including Clark Gable sing it in a bus in "it happened one night"

  • Excellent. I also adore it when Clark Gable sings it in 'It Happened One Night'.

  • He needs to swear because it's hilarious

  • Why does he need to swear in the song?

  • i think swearing is usually used to add to the tone of the song--he's hurtin'. if somebody says "i'm pissed," its different than "i'm fuckin' pissed." its a tone thing. i've always found it rather effective.

  • this is a fantastic recording where can we find the full concert????

  • brilliant.
