And why to drill for more oil if the industry has not enough refinery facilities anyway?

Because its not about giving the american people more gas supplies to lower the prices. Its about selling more oil abroad to rise the profits.

Ask yourself: Why should the oil industry want prices to drop for you? You are not their shareholder, you are their consumer.

WE should complain more to the soft drink mfg. Grocerie stores sell a 12 pack of Dr Pepper or Coke or Pepsi for $ 2.99 per 12 pack of 12 oz cans, that is 24 oz less than 1 gallon. Mostly water and a little flavor. The profits must be out of sight, yet we continue to buy drinks and bottled water which is as costly or more that soft drinks. GET WISE AMERICANS.

The best way to lower Gas Prices is to begin Price Gouging investigations and a mandatory Price Cap of 1.50 a gallon. Talk of this causing Gas Shortages is just pure Bunk by the Fundamentalist in my Opinion.

The lefties do not want the western world to advance, they want it to retreat. Oil is the fuel for advancement, so oil is their enemy, and thus, environmentalism is their weapon.

But it is a useless ruse. More refineries will be built, more oil will be drilled, enough to keep us going for another 50 years, after which time, the nuclear power will take over to charge electric cars.

The Heritage Foundation is a right wing think tank. There is no secret about that. I just recommend taking their opinion as well as the others with a grain of salt. Once you know the facts and the issue at hand can you make a choice.

The lack of refining capacity is intentionally taking down the facilities for repairs right as the driving season swings upward.

And the reason there's not enough refining capacity is because Oil companies want to keep a tight grasp on market scarcity.

(Same way the diamond industry maintains the price of diamonds, by restricting supply)

Has nothing to do with environmental regulations.

Largely it's a mix of price gouging and increasing global market demand from other nations.

We just don't have enough land and fresh water to make Ethanol work. Period.

What we need are more energy effecient vehicles.

In particular ultra clean diesels, and electric dominant hybrids.

Costs about "50 cents a gallon" to fill up on electricity.

What a terrible perspective. Ethanol really isn't sustainable... just a big agriculture way to make more money. But the idea that high gas prices are a problem big enough to by-pass environmental protections is really immoral. We by cars to have the "freedom" to drive everywhere. Meanwhile that "freedom" to have a car is now a slave driver. Driven to war for oil by the industrial military complex... WE SHOULD PAY MORE FOR THE OIL!

I belive that using busses, trains, walking and stuff is good for the everyone. So I say make it cheaper to go with trains and stuff instead of making it more excpencive to go car. BUT, do I hear alright? 3$/3.8 liters of pertol. That is a bargain! Is sweden it's more like 2$/1 litre. Buy more petrol efficient cars americans! Stop complaining!

you guys don't really have to take 4 -5 kids to the school and than go to work the same day. we drive an average 40 10 miles a day, and we carry a lot of chinese crap home too, so we need big vehicles. There is no public transportation in this country. I could say zero none nada ...
