WE should complain more to the soft drink mfg. Grocerie stores sell a 12 pack of Dr Pepper or Coke or Pepsi for $ 2.99 per 12 pack of 12 oz cans, that is 24 oz less than 1 gallon. Mostly water and a little flavor. The profits must be out of sight, yet we continue to buy drinks and bottled water which is as costly or more that soft drinks. GET WISE AMERICANS.
We should be drilling for oil in the gulf and Alaska. The environmental impact would be minimal despite what the hysterical lefties would screech. And to Lucem2 all I have to say to you is
That would be good, But common consinous is we can't drill our way out of this one. I can't spell, did I get it right. Your right though Atlantic coast a plenty. Pacific hard pill. North Slope Galore.
Gas price will always goes up. $1.35 a year i think...
And any scientists releasing alternative fuel will be kill like that black scientist who was working on peanut oil as a cheap fuel source decades ago. Oil is more valuable then blood as you can see in a particular recent war...
I made an Account just so I could comment on this.
The best way to lower Gas Prices is to begin Price Gouging investigations and a mandatory Price Cap of 1.50 a gallon. Talk of this causing Gas Shortages is just pure Bunk by the Fundamentalist in my Opinion.
You've been brainwashed into thing that anything oil companies do is screwing the environment... If your really that concerned why on't you stop driving and using any energy generated by oil and natural gas.
The other thing the left does is resort to name calling "White Male Trash" I suppose that by that you mean highly educated men and women. Your comments are merely your own gas being emitted why don't you do the environment a big favor.
You are right the Heritage Foundation is Right Wing and yes they have an agenda which is to get the facts straight unlike the Left Wing which does exactly like your doing i.e., telling lies as if they are facts. (Bush White House composed of 70% of people coming from the oil sector... come on get real...)
The lefties do not want the western world to advance, they want it to retreat. Oil is the fuel for advancement, so oil is their enemy, and thus, environmentalism is their weapon.
But it is a useless ruse. More refineries will be built, more oil will be drilled, enough to keep us going for another 50 years, after which time, the nuclear power will take over to charge electric cars.
You mean like this one, which mentioned that the US Energy Information Administration does not believe we can offset even 1% of our 146 Billion/gal/year fuel usage by 2030?
The Heritage Foundation is nothing more than a heavily funded "stink" tank for big business and ultra-conservative agendas. Notice the deliberate manipulation here of stating the cause and then promote solutions which have nothing to do with the cause. Brilliant!! How the "heck" does drilling in protected areas increase refinery output??? I can't wait for the Congressional hearings.
The Heritage Foundation is a right wing think tank. There is no secret about that. I just recommend taking their opinion as well as the others with a grain of salt. Once you know the facts and the issue at hand can you make a choice.
What a terrible perspective. Ethanol really isn't sustainable... just a big agriculture way to make more money. But the idea that high gas prices are a problem big enough to by-pass environmental protections is really immoral. We by cars to have the "freedom" to drive everywhere. Meanwhile that "freedom" to have a car is now a slave driver. Driven to war for oil by the industrial military complex... WE SHOULD PAY MORE FOR THE OIL!
I belive that using busses, trains, walking and stuff is good for the everyone. So I say make it cheaper to go with trains and stuff instead of making it more excpencive to go car. BUT, do I hear alright? 3$/3.8 liters of pertol. That is a bargain! Is sweden it's more like 2$/1 litre. Buy more petrol efficient cars americans! Stop complaining!
you guys don't really have to take 4 -5 kids to the school and than go to work the same day. we drive an average 40 10 miles a day, and we carry a lot of chinese crap home too, so we need big vehicles. There is no public transportation in this country. I could say zero none nada ...
Wait, the oil industry has missed to invest in refinery facilities and now its the fault of the Congress; the people; your fault?
And why to drill for more oil if the industry has not enough refinery facilities anyway?
Because its not about giving the american people more gas supplies to lower the prices. Its about selling more oil abroad to rise the profits.
Ask yourself: Why should the oil industry want prices to drop for you? You are not their shareholder, you are their consumer.

Exxon-Mobile is my God.
Heritage Foundation is also God.
George Bush is a wise man.
Give subsidies and loosen regulations for the oil companies, then we will be closer to God.

greyflcn is correct - lobbyists can smell this one a mile away with the push of ethanol. Couple that with farmiing subsidies and it's a field day.
Electric and hydrogen cars, folks.

They aren't even a Thinktank, they are bluntly a lobbyist organization.
For instance they've recieved more than $500,000 dollars from ExxonMobil
Should take it with more than just a grain of salt.
You should use a full salt shakers worth.
Or more or less, treat them like Tobacco lobbyists, dealing with indoor air quality :P

The lack of refining capacity is intentionally taking down the facilities for repairs right as the driving season swings upward.
And the reason there's not enough refining capacity is because Oil companies want to keep a tight grasp on market scarcity.
(Same way the diamond industry maintains the price of diamonds, by restricting supply)
Has nothing to do with environmental regulations.
Largely it's a mix of price gouging and increasing global market demand from other nations.
greyflcn 4 years ago
It's not really a complex issue.
We just don't have enough land and fresh water to make Ethanol work. Period.
greyfalcon. net/ ethanol.png
And even if we did, it wouldn't do us any good.
greyfalcon. net/ ethanol2
greyfalcon. net/ ethanol3
What we need are more energy effecient vehicles.
In particular ultra clean diesels, and electric dominant hybrids.
Costs about "50 cents a gallon" to fill up on electricity.
