The same way morals started in your life: when you were given a choice to do something or not when someone told you to do it or not to. Many of our moral instincts come from our evolution. This is why our nearest cousins, the chimpanzees, react against infidelity, deceit, theft and even show altruism. Did your god send them these on a banana?
Hey Empty, have you noticed less and less people watch your videos as time goes on? I'm going to take a guess and say it's because you have no intention of engaging in a discussion, you just want to preach AT people.
You don't listen, you're condescending while trying to come off as polite and caring. You are proud of your ignorance, and you plead with others to be as ignorant as you.
@maverik713 That's nice. Please tell me, WHERE did your sad feelings come from? I mean, WHERE did they originate from? Scientifically speaking of course.
Even if I couldn't tell you where feelings come from(and I can, but I'm done wasting time explaining things to people who have no intention of learning anything new) that wouldn't make your "explanation" valid. I put explanation in quotes because your version will most likely consist of something that you can't prove to others.
@emptywithoutjesus Okay, let me try to this again, maybe if I explain it a different way you might get it this time.
My first comment consisted of a question and four statements.
To which you said "That's nice." before moving on to ask your own questions.
Now why do you think it's okay to only respond with "That's nice." to me but the paragraph I made in response to you was dodging? You see why I don't want to have a conversation with you? You're dishonest in the way you argue.
@maverik713 "Hey Empty, have you noticed less and less people watch your videos as time goes on?"
No, I haven't. Do you have charts and graphs at home depicting the decline of viewership?
I don't even KNOW how many videos I have, that's how little it matters to me. I speak to those people God wants me to. You on the other hand never made that video you said you would and you keep on coping out with "you'll never listen anyway", nonsense. Face it mav, you're afraid to make the video.
@emptywithoutjesus Tee hee, it's cute that you think you have me afraid to make a video. And while you are certainly welcome to believe fear is what prevents me from making any more videos to or about you, I know it's not the truth. I rewatched my "EWJvid" and immediately remembered why I didn't want to engage you anymore. You're dishonest, disingenuous, and not interested in having a real conversation. You just wanna preach at people and make fun of stuff you don't understand. Have fun!
You should look up Immanuel Kant. People may take the reference a little more seriously than Lewis.- And also, you may wish to discontinue generalising, 0:38 "...kind of like yourselves, atheists." I don't look down on many people, regardless of their ascribed faith... Not that I take offence to YOU doing it. But if you wish to communicate to atheists effectively you may find it more effective to not condescend them or assume their values and/or behaviour. -Be well in all things.
@PrecambrianLullabyI appreciate the feedback. One of my faults on my videos is speaking to the atheists that visit my channel as opposed to ALL atheists. When I talk to atheists on my videos I know in my mind that I am talking to a sub group of devout atheists that defend their faith with grit. It's my fault. I probably should say something to the effect of "not all atheists", but I usually forget being caught up in the topic.
The fault is not yours alone, many on the non-believer side are equally guilty; People talk about Christians in very repulsive ways and my knee jerks. I've known many Christians in my day, very few of them are guilty of the ignorance and behaviour they are often prescribed by some here online. It certainly does grab attention. That just seems to be the climate here... I, personally, abstain the debate. IMO, There are those that benefit much from faith. Best of luck, and TY 4 the kind reply.
What utter nonsense, morality is derived from evolution and necessary for a species to survive.
If God is the source of morality then you should be able to name one universe moral law? FYI you may want to check you bible for examples of immorality.
White noise, nothing but white noise. YOU look down on us AND "pagans". Don't you believe your Jesus had something to say about hypocrisy? Thousands of years of trial & error is how we've come to the morals we have today, just like you Christians figured out about slavery, women's rights & democracy, not from your book. I see no proof of the immaterial & you're real bad at giving any.
Are you saying if you stopped being a Christian tomorrow you'd just go out raping & killing? Answer this.
@CaffeinatedThinking OK. You mention they develop over time. HOW did they get started? You know, what sparked the very first moral? Like what sparked the very first chemicals to create something?
Because there are consequences to moral behavior that benefit reproduction. The HOW of it all is simply that the effect of certain genes(and before genes - other arrangements of matter) happened to selectively reduce predatory behavior towards replicators that were likely to contain the same gene, which in turn gave such genes a reproductive advantage. A similar process irons out the details of cultural moral codes in societies.
I do like biblical commentary, but this strayed from the premise. You left reason once you said law requires a lawgiver. Moral law is the animal reaction to consequence. If there is a God, He informs us of the law as it exists. If He decided what was wrong, then it's not law, just His opinion. If we learn it by reason or revelation, there still is a best way to do anything.

do you agree with everthing in Leviticus like
Don't cut your hair nor shave. (Leviticus 19:27)
Any person who curseth his mother or father, must be killed. (Leviticus 20:9)
If a man cheats on his wife, or vise versa, both the man and the woman must die. (Leviticus 20:10).
If a priest's daughter is a whore, she is to be burnt at the stake. (Leviticus 21:9)
Don't wear clothes made of more than one fabric (Leviticus 19:19)

Way to dodge the rest of my comment though.
Again, I feel sad for you.

I can justify killing someone if their existence puts my own life in danger.

I sorry but I don't believe in a god or gods, because I see no proof in a divine creator and no matter how many time bible passages get thrown at me.
It's all just "blah, blah, blah" to me...!
