I have both those books, they're wonderful. We tried cattail shoots yesterday, tasted like cucmber when raw, and corn when cooked. Very yummy, even the kids loved it.
i was actually gonna pick this up today . the title seems to specifically include Eastern and Central , and exclude Pacific and Mountain zones of North America . Anyone know if this is a good guide for the NW area?
Also please check out a siite on here called eattheweeds, he has agreed to help me identify some of my yard plants this summer, he's cool and has many videos identifying wild plant life.
Thanks for the info on the books I'm going to check into them now.
Haha...dope...taking those steps! Sucks that it's such a scary step to take for us...sucks that we didn't learn the plants as kids. I'm always a little nervous popping plants into my mouth, cuz I don't know SHIT! We'll get there though, and we can make sure that our kids will be a lot more educated than we were.
Great vid! Don't eat too much the first time you try something new. Believe me, been there and you don't want to go! Yeah, I've been shoveling horseshit for the past two days-spring is here-time to plant. peace
Yo - Dave / Cheri - I tried the same thing with the "common plantain". made me dizzy & have to lie down after about an hour. However, it did work as a natural anti-nicotine plant. ...as I didn't want to do shit after eating it! LOL
WTF??? holy cheese&crackers...I drive 18 damn hours & BBQ...I send y'all chili & shit...yous bring yer starvin asses up here...make a damn video...THEN...go on back on down to the farm to graze???..what's up w/dat???
hehe, I don't mean to be paranoid, but you have to be careful. There's a plant that looks like dandelion, but it might make you sick. So be extra careful
Sweet, I have the peterson field guides medicinal plants and herbs book. I plan on getting the other one sometime soon I hope. Those flowers grow like crazy in my backyard. Two other books I have gotten that are really cool are The New complete book of Self- Sufficiency: The classic guide for realists and dreamers (Amazing book) and The New Self-Sufficient Gardener (also Amazing) both by John Seymour. You guys should check em out...Peace =)
