  • I have both those books, they're wonderful. We tried cattail shoots yesterday, tasted like cucmber when raw, and corn when cooked. Very yummy, even the kids loved it.

  • i was actually gonna pick this up today . the title seems to specifically include Eastern and Central , and exclude Pacific and Mountain zones of North America . Anyone know if this is a good guide for the NW area?

  • Haha...dope...taking those steps! Sucks that it's such a scary step to take for us...sucks that we didn't learn the plants as kids. I'm always a little nervous popping plants into my mouth, cuz I don't know SHIT! We'll get there though, and we can make sure that our kids will be a lot more educated than we were.

  • hehe, I don't mean to be paranoid, but you have to be careful. There's a plant that looks like dandelion, but it might make you sick. So be extra careful

  • Sweet, I have the peterson field guides medicinal plants and herbs book. I plan on getting the other one sometime soon I hope. Those flowers grow like crazy in my backyard. Two other books I have gotten that are really cool are The New complete book of Self- Sufficiency: The classic guide for realists and dreamers (Amazing book) and The New Self-Sufficient Gardener (also Amazing) both by John Seymour. You guys should check em out...Peace =)
