I hate to break it to anyone who calls the emperor god emperor. Just by saying God-emperor you are defying the emperor since he wanted to free humanity from the ingnorance of religion and here you are worshiping him like a god......it you dont believe me read The First Heretic of the horus heresy series...He killed damn near a whole planet cause the prayed to him as if he were a god.....
@CTdonnner1991 You have to keep reading beyond that one book... the Emperor didn't get much of a say in his eventual deification. Plus, that's like saying Darth Vader always wanted to kill Luke, just because he tried to in the first/fourth movie.
@ShroudFilm Ya i havent got to much farther in the series but it even states that in every single legion they all knew that the emperor never wanted to be put upon a God mantle and those that believed him a god made lodges which were illegal as well so The emperors stance was known from the begining but the space marine legions and the guard went on with it anyway. Now dont get me wrong im a guard player and i love them but my regiment does not worship the emperor :D
@resowo Regardless The Emperor never wanted that and to go against his word is heresy is it not? Even if it has been clouded by thousands of years. His word was law and he said that noone shall worship him as a God. Stated quite firmly when he Exterminated the planet (whos name i now forget) in First Heretic. @Banzay27 You should read the Imperial Guards Uplifting primers. They have prayers for everything, a prayer for pulling a grenade pin, another for throwing it. A prayer for cleaning, unloading, reloading and firing your weapon. A prayer if you get shot, another if your friend gets shot. In other words they pray a lot.
Very good man, I like the video alot. My thought is though if you read the official back story and canon on the Emperor, it says he is the physical manifestation of mankind's spirituality after the ritual that went into his conception. So in a sense he is God in the 40k universe but he denied his true nature during the foundation of the Imperium in order to unite humanity as he saw organized religion as the cause for much of humanity's wars against itself.
Reciting litanies to Emperor for around a minute while being shot at is almost as logical as mumbling "Litany of Stealth" while trying to sneak undetected.

One thing most people dont know is that the Death Korps have no fear to die. They believe that in order to wash away their sins they must die in battle to regain the honour that was lost when their world left the Imperium. Every soldier from Kreig is willing to lay his life down for the Emporer, as do all guardsmen, but the Death Korps expect death and do not run. There are many examples of this in the book, Dead Men Walking by Steve Lyons.
The irony is that the Emperor for all intent and purposes IS a god but pushes for atheism so the ruinious powers would not gain more power from humanity

I say this from personal experience. I've been in a number of fire-fights before.....
I think what they were trying to do was a scene reminiscent of those "calm before the storm" scenes in other war movies 'Saving Private Ryan' every scene Tom Hanks goes deaf for a minute or so is one such scene.

The Death Korps should have their own official codex. GW already decided to break up the Space Marines, why not the Guard as well, the DK are certainly different enough from the rest.
You guys should read Dead Men Walking by Steve Lyons! you get some insight into the Death Korps structure! They believe they owe their lives to the Emperor because of there planets civil war a milenia before! Lots more but i wont spoil

@ShroudFilm the fact that they do not pray does not mean they do not believe, in fact, they believe the only way to honour the emperor is to fight and inevitably die in his service. praying does not appear in their modus operandi. they are born, learn to fight, fight, die. no time or use for prayers. ever wondered why there are no priests in the krieg lists? they have no need for encouraging speeches and prayers, they are already motivated enough to give their lives gleefully.

Besides, the words from this prayer come from an official Imperial Guard manual. Don't shoot the messenger (or he'll likely start praying to the Emperor as well...)

@Banzay27 You should read the Imperial Guards Uplifting primers. They have prayers for everything, a prayer for pulling a grenade pin, another for throwing it. A prayer for cleaning, unloading, reloading and firing your weapon. A prayer if you get shot, another if your friend gets shot. In other words they pray a lot.

Very good man, I like the video alot. My thought is though if you read the official back story and canon on the Emperor, it says he is the physical manifestation of mankind's spirituality after the ritual that went into his conception. So in a sense he is God in the 40k universe but he denied his true nature during the foundation of the Imperium in order to unite humanity as he saw organized religion as the cause for much of humanity's wars against itself.

One thing most people dont know is that the Death Korps have no fear to die. They believe that in order to wash away their sins they must die in battle to regain the honour that was lost when their world left the Imperium. Every soldier from Kreig is willing to lay his life down for the Emporer, as do all guardsmen, but the Death Korps expect death and do not run. There are many examples of this in the book, Dead Men Walking by Steve Lyons.

@nopoet406 You'd be surprised how calm a person can be in a firefight.... Were they real, this would be more true for soldiers that are devout servants of the God-Emperor of mankind.
I say this from personal experience. I've been in a number of fire-fights before.....
I think what they were trying to do was a scene reminiscent of those "calm before the storm" scenes in other war movies 'Saving Private Ryan' every scene Tom Hanks goes deaf for a minute or so is one such scene.

The Death Korps should have their own official codex. GW already decided to break up the Space Marines, why not the Guard as well, the DK are certainly different enough from the rest.

@ShroudFilm the fact that they do not pray does not mean they do not believe, in fact, they believe the only way to honour the emperor is to fight and inevitably die in his service. praying does not appear in their modus operandi. they are born, learn to fight, fight, die. no time or use for prayers. ever wondered why there are no priests in the krieg lists? they have no need for encouraging speeches and prayers, they are already motivated enough to give their lives gleefully.

@K4inan You should read beyond the Horus Heresy series - he said that 10,000 years ago, when he was still alive. Yes, he abhorred the idea of religion and did not want to become a god in the eyes of his followers, but he couldn't do much about it when the whole Imperium adopted him as a deity.
Besides, the words from this prayer come from an official Imperial Guard manual. Don't shoot the messenger (or he'll likely start praying to the Emperor as well...)

@jesse6788 Even though the vast majority of Krieg troopers are in a sense 'clones' born out of the vitae womb process, they are still drilled and indoctrinated nearly from birth to become the most selfless, devoted and fearsome of soldier to serve the Emperor of Man next to the Astartes themselves. Sure they may be fatalistic beyond belief, but it's to show their devotion and to pay penance for their past generations transgressions.

You really would think that after reading the Dead Men Walking novel, but I think that they do still pray to him. As for this prayer asking for protection, it could just be so that their men could keep fighting to get that one enemy kill so that their lives would be worthy in the eyes of the Emperor.

@ShroudFilm Also bears remembering that while the living Emperor wanted a secular (atheist) mankind, his incarceration in the Golden Throne turned him into a psychic receptacle and conduit for all of the Imperium's prayers.... so the Emperor quite literally does receive and harness the powers of mindless mumbling and uses it do various things. The brutal regime of the Inquisition has made it like this, probably on purpose, and probably with the best of intentions.
