"Fess" is in the room and "Cool" is in the room. The room is "Cool" and everyone in the room is "Cool" and when "Fess" walks out some "Cool" is left on the ground where his feet have tread.
Joining Fess, that is Art Neville(Aaron's brother) of the Meters on the other keyboards, Leo Nocentelli of the Meters on lead guitar, and Alfredo Roberts, Fess' longtime Conga player. I saw these guys play many times having grown up in New Orleans...
When i was a kid in 1979, maybe 10 or 11, we went to the Endymion ball after their parade, and the music for the event included Ernie K-Doe and Professor Longhair. I'll never forget seeing Fess and hearing the music. I was so jazzed to actually hear the man himself perform "Go To the Mardi Gras", I song I grew up with in N.O. and heard countless times. This clip is amazing.
My favourite musician ever! I discovered his music when my Ma ended up being given a load of the photographer David Redfern's old albums. I found his album 'Live on the Queen Mary', it had two signed photos of 'Fess.. Love all kinds of music, but this is the guy I always come back to. Wish I coulda met him.. Thanks for postin!
Aw Yeah! People's they ax me if I grew up in New Awlinz but I says," not yet!"
Fess wuz DA MAN! We used to rock to him at the AlLigator Ball on Prytania St. and luved the Mardi gras ball down in St. Bernard parrish.
I'm da guy that painted the murals at Rock n' Bowl. Fess's in that 2!
