If you are saying that BB was sore because of his exercise rider you are more than likely wrong. Exercise riders that are heavier than race weight are actually better(in my opinion) since the weight requires the horse to build stamina and strength to be fast. but then after building that stamina you put a little guy on there thats only 115 pounds to race the horse, the horse can run faster since he has built more stamina and strength from the heavier exercise rider.

In Secretariat's first race, he got mugged big time in the race as BB did, but Sec never gave up and became the greatest. If that is an excuse that BB couldn't handle being bumped or not enough time between races, then give it up that BB was a great horse.Nothing aginst BB, but Dutrow can kiss off. Dutrow stated BB was in the same class as Secretariat.Still today Sec has the Derby record, many say the Preakness as well (time clock issue withstanding) and has the belmont record.All 3 races ran in same time frame.Dutrow comented Denis of Cork(Belmont, 2nd place) was a pile of shit, which after the race, trainer of DOC loved the outcome.Sorry BB you deserved more, your trainer is making you a big loser.

Winner and still Champion" Secretariat"!!!! Big Brown was suppose to be faster,unbeaten,and a better horse than Big Red. Well folks who crying in there beer today!!!???? The winner, was in fact almost 5 sec. behind the time Big Red had of (2:24in that race! Secretariat was in fact beaten in his career BUT ,never came in LAST. Goes to show ,"You can leade a horse to the racetrack,but,ya can't make him run" Or you know what I mean!!!!

and for the jockey i have a ton of respect for him. he did what was best for the horse. and when it all comes down you have to throw out all the media and money and focus on what is best for the horse. big brown ran out of gas so instead of pushing and risking serious injury he decided to save the horse for another day and just get him home safe.

Big Brown is an amazing horse... all of the horses are. Asking a horse to give that much in 5 weeks is a lot. It is like a human running the 3 hardest marathons in just over a month. Anyone who is a horse person and understands them knows that they have bad days, just like anyone else. Dutrow needs to remeber not to count your chickens before they hatch...

Dutrow said BB had not received his monthly winstrol since mid-April. Thought it wouldn't make any difference. Apparently IT DID! April dose took BB through mid-May KD & Preakness. Then BB was totally off steroids by Belmont (withdrawal symptoms?).

Put BB back on steroids (like most American racers), win Breeder's Cup, get named horse of the year. 2009 will be no more steroids.

I agree that this years 3 year olds were weak. Big Brown was the best of the pack. what I don't understand is Dutrow's "logic". Steroids are legal in New York. BB has raced with Steroids in all of his early races. why change your strategy in the biggest race of his career? This was Dutrow's once in a lifetime. He will never get another BB. Especially after this fiasco. And, I think that Desormeaux gave him a bad ride.

And for the comment only they were only 5 seconds off of Secretariat, no they were actually closer to almost 6 seconds off of him and that only translates into about 30 lengths, that's all on a track which was very fast.

The Belmont is often very hot this time of year, 93 is hot but it is nothing outrageous. The Derby was a very slow race for the track conditions, same in the Preakness and this race was very very slow! Patterns of races do not lie only liars do. The Derby prep races this year along with the TC races all point to one thing = SLOW!

Today, the 1st time BB ever encountered some traffic problems in his career he spit the bit. He was done after 1/4 mile and the weather did not cause that!

Desormeauxs ride may have lost a close finish but did not cause him to be eased. This horse isn't that great and this is a slow weak class of 3 year olds. This Belmont was run in almost 2:30 over a very lively track = SLOW,gee what a surprise? NOT!

Who has he faced? Icibad Crane,Gayego,Capt John,Racecar Rhapsody,Dennis of Cork,Hey Byrne.. The Derby, Preakness and Belmont were ALL very slow run races versus par. Curlin would destroy this horse, reality! He's a faster animal by open lengths!

It was also the hottest Belmont ever. 93 and humid. Ever go jogging in high heat and humidity? Your time will suffer. 2:29 is only 5 seconds off Secretariat.

Ok I saw the race, i'm not mad but kinda at the jockey in my mind if you guys would notice he was pulling on him way too hard from the start and to me it messed him up in the head, he bolted outta the start like he wanted to run like hell, if I was the jockey i would have let him run and win the thing, i believe in my mind that the jockey was trying to pace but pulled way too hard and dismaned him. I maybe wrong but that's what it looked like in my point of view.

poor guy, I hope there was no foul play involved... it's just strange how the horse with one of the worse odds wins the belmont, and the horse that's 1-4, won the kentucky derby and preakness by more than several lengths (and Kent was struggling to hold him back!!), and normally runs like a bat out of hell would not only loose, but come in last! maybe by tomorrow we'll know about something.

Hey, D'Tara had a lot of class. Wire to wire? Come on! Brown was just falling apart. He just couldn't take the heat (literally) and may have gotten kicked...no problems so far, walked off cleaning. He just had a bad day, like all do.

I'm not going to give away the mathematical formula--but it goes like this. Take each horse's G2 races (1 1/8th Mile and greater) and G1 races. Adjust them for distance (requires cross-multiplication) and weight or grade breaks that result in position being held as well as reward their close over the last 1/4 Mile. Only a win by Big Brown could deliver the Triple Crown, however.

Its just like boxers mouthing off that they will win before they know. It's Dutrow, and the rest's business to keep their backers happy. Sportsmen always say their team will win, regardless of whether they have a chance or not. As far as the comment about Edgar Prado-- jocks get hired by anyone, and ride for anyone who pays, they're no one's special friend. Don't matter who they road for before, or after. This is not a sport for humble people. Big Brown will win if his quarter cracks hold out.
