  • Never used to like the front end but now its grone on me & I like it, the rest of the body is attractive anyway & the magnas engine is the best V6 built in Aus by far.

  • They really are a great car full stop. liked them so much i bought the next TW version

  • Seriously shit ad....If it wasn't for the heading I would have thought it was someones home video of a wedding.

  • yes ! just to be different and its actually the fully optioned ugly verada xi one and blimey ! everything actually works still after the flogging I give it.seriously, it may not appeal to many including yourself but it is one of the better cars made in aus.

  • "apl1960" - Just to repeat myself again, because clearly I need to: I have no doubt everything still works & that it's super duper reliable & all that, it just looks gay. ie: I was criticising its DESIGN, from an aesthetic pov. NOTHING ELSE. Hideous cunt of a car....

  • reliability is still the key factor. My TL /KL Verada has taken me trouble free for well over 350000 kilometres. Yes I wasnt sure about the appearance as well at first, but I lowered it a little and now it just looks mean ! At least they all know whats coming up behind them or at them . At least I dont have to look for badges on common platformed falcodores and MazHondas these days !

  • "apl1960" - So you managed to transform a hideous gorblimey ghost-face of a car into a stunner by "lowering" it.... jesus.

  • @JohnoEAL its different , The gap in wheel arches enhanced your opinion of it.. I did something about it and it worked for me . Dont stress ! they stopped making them for you anyway

  • What a great car this was. I still have my TL and am not going to part with it any time soon. It's just a shame there will be no more Aussie made Mitsubishi's. Even at the mine is it still drives and performs better than anything else built in Oz. As for those ugly Camery things yuk!oh what a feeling yeh it kills my back getting in and out of one. No comparison to my magna. Love This Car

  • The TL is good value for money. I love driving my folks TL on the highway, because it is fast and comfortable.

  • the front seems like the eclipse one

  • I bought a 2003 TL VRX recently. Definitely makes a great second hand buy. Reliable, quiet and that tiptronic 3.5 V6 is oh so sweet!

  • i like how they body coloured the head lights on the series 2.

  • We have the TL - just got it a few weeks ago, and I can see the smiley shaped bumper from here - I love the tiptronic!

  • YAY, awesome car! What model TL did you get?

  • The ES - and I love it. Really happy with it! Sure has some grunt on the freeways

  • Yeah, highways are good fun, I have a 3.5 manual Sports and they're great. I got from Liverpool to Seymour on a full tank last year (810kms I think I squeezed out of it). Hope you have many happy years of motoring there :D

  • It didnt take long for the looks grew on me, but for the ad, they did use the best looking model, the VR-X. I have a TH and think the shape still looks good ten years on.

  • The was TJ was a good car and just when I thought they could'nt get any better they brought this modal out. The TJ is a better looking car but how ever they truly packed this modal up with great extras

  • i have the TL vrx but yeah the TJ look awesome i want to get a ralliart TJ

  • I reckon it looks pretty good these days. When it first came out I thought it looked like crap, but now after a few years it's grown on me. Just like the TJ. I think Mitsu wanted to get rid of the conservative image they were getting with the slow as shit TR/TS models. At least from the TE onwards they started building decent gear boxes and engines that didn't rattle themselves to pieces.

  • I honestly didn't think they could create anything worse than this model's immediate predecessor, the TJ with it's stupid birdbeek bonnet (looks like it's sniffin for chicken feed!)... but they did, thanks to that French prick. He should be shot.

The older TE--> models weren't nearly as bad as these last 2, but even they weren't in the same universe as the masterpiece they replaced, the gorgeous TR/TS models. Next to them the TE was just a bland bricklike uninspiring design.

  • A monstrosity. No other word for it. Looks like a cross between a brick, a Renault & a ghost. It doesn't matter how good it is, nobody would buy a car this ugly on general principal.

Notice how in the ad, there's not one prolonged shot of the car... they show it for a split second, then quickly CUT away to flashback images... or kids sitting in the back seat...

They're ashamed of the way it looks! I don't blame them one bit. It's cars like this that killed Mitsubishi.

  • Indeed, and this is the revised front end. The earlier models in the series, if I recall correctly, had the bumper cut-out facing upward like a smile. If the price was right though, I'll admit I'd buy one, if anything for the 3.5L V6 and tiptronic.

  • Yes you're right the TL did indeed have a "smile-shaped" bumper intake, but that was only on the lower models, (like ES, LS, Solara etc.) and ran right thru to the end... But the VRX has the shape as in this ad (that's probably what it is).

  • @JohnoEAL you seem a little premature with your gasbag. I suppose it was 2 years ago, you didnt work at the adelaide factory before it shut did you ? quite a few happy owners out there judging by replies since yours

  • "apl1960" - Premature??? Have you even looked at the car in question???? I was criticising its DESIGN, from an aesthetic pov. nothing else.

  • @JohnoEAL UMAD!!
