you've made some good points. ataturk may have brought turkey into modernisation by making it a westernised nation, but he neglects and even prohibits some islamic values that people in the country have made as part of their daily lives - such as forcing women not to wear the hijab (instead than giving them a choice) at universities, schools and parliament, and at one time tried to force people into accepting the turkish azan - of which i think are appaulling and totally ridiculous.
