  • I came here actually interested in an explanation of time dilation, when im caught off guard by a pretty well played Aphex Twin song. One of my favorites.

  • wtf is this?

  • what a stupid vid

  • Ratings have been disabled for this video. Why?

  • @ApollonianKing cause nobody liked the drums

  • It is odd we have time dilation but in physics we have no understanding of what time is.

  • WEEEEDDDD....oh... no...just brocoli :/

  • as a artist i felt as if the schematic notion of time as a costant alleinates me from society but as a human being watching the video i feel linked and pleased to have seen it thank you.

a dream can summarise our previouse day and seem to go on for hours but in reality it will last only minutes.

  • It's brilliant. At first, as many others are, I wondered about this video, and was completely baffled, but after a few check overs and re-watches, speculations, and all that good stuff, I found that it is a very brilliant piece of artwork!

  • the original song, "Film" is by Aphex Twin, much better!

  • ooh now i understand :) thx for the video dumbass

  • i cant say i really understood that but i liked the music, was intreaging to watch too

  • that was a random ass video, work on the aesthetics plz

  • Tachyons travel faster than speed of light, as far I remember my physics classes.

  • The speed of light is constant and it is the fastest known. we will come to the black hole part. Gravity is an energy or force , we can take it either way.we have to compare the energy of the light source and the gravity of black whole. since gravity has larger energy it pulls it.Remember light has mass but no mass at rest, in the sense the mass is been converted fully to movement. hence it is the fastest.

  • my question is..is light speed constant?and is it the fastest thing known in the univers?

now why is it that ppl say black holes are so powerful that even light cant escape?now this can cause a bend in light speed.can this alter our perspective of the way we mesure great distance in the univers.

  • if ur in a car going 10 mph and a car passes u going 20mph to u it seems like the passing car is going at 10mph. if im standing still outside the passing car appears to be going 20mph.if ur in a rocket ship going half the speed of light and im standing still and a light beam passes both us at the same time, it will appear to be traveling at c for both of us. it is the fastest thing in the universe. and blackholes bend light cuz they have an infinite density and have such a strong gravity field

  • actually black holes have a gravitational pull faster than the speed of light. as im sure you know that for example earth has gravity of 9.8 m/s. light travels at 3e+8 m/s but the reason it gets sucked into a black hole is because a black hole has a gravitational pull of higher than 3e+8 thats why it gets sucked in so you could say a black holes speed of gravitational pull is faster than the speed of light

  • Light IS FUCKING constant, for God's sake. Some objects will reflect a percentage of the photons back and allow the rest to go through (No man on Earth knows the discrimination rule). The refletion will be weaker when some of the light is reflected, that's just that. period. But the photons allowed to go through will continue it's journey at the same speed (identical speed of the reflected ones on their journey back). Don't mix spectrum breakdown with "photon breakdown" (wich doesn't exist).

  • so why does the light get sucked in the gravity of massive black holes as its passing by? i know light has a constant speed in all mediums but i always found it interesting of what happens to it in black holes. u know i read something about this that if u develop a machine to go near a black hole and somehow make it back to earth. by the time your back, hundreds or even thousands of years may have passed because light moves slower near black holes therefore aging slows down. pretty cool huh!

  • 73337,

light have not constant speed in all mediums. E.g. electrons are faster then light while passing the water - Cherenkov light.

Not only at black hole. Time dilates in accelerated frames of reference - meaning also near gravitational sources. Doesn't matter whether black hole or Earth. To make it clear: the time on Earth goes slower then time on orbit.

With extremes like black holes - the time actually (almost) stops near it.

  • Black holes have the same gravity as the star that formed it (at distances greater than the star's radius). Therefore, the gravity of a black hole varies on how big the star was and how close you are to it.

  • light is never constant, you see it change every day. light travels faster in a vacuum(space), than it does in jello(thick). this is why light splits when it travels through a prism. and yes, light is the fastest thing that we know of

  • yes,you look like clever one, light IS the fastest thing in a universe (not known or unknown, just fastest) but black holes bend light so there comes a thing = "The gravity of black holes is faster then light." but its not true.nothing can be faster then light. This is one paradox, that einstein didnt solve,he died before he solved it.thing we need is gravity waves.

  • you mean a SECOND by the definition of the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium-133 atom. This definition refers to a caesium atom at rest at a temperature of 0 K (absolute zero).

  • dont understand at all

  • What you are saying is there is no such thing as "proper" time. I see a variety of "times", where the niche you inhabit determines your time relationship to reality.

  • u do have a point on this

    time is a constant

making it infinite or 0 proving that time does not exist

and is just an illusion that the brain creates, because we see everything in a linear way past present future

or present past future or whatever

    good work!!

  • time is by no means constant!!! not to the brain; not to any other event. at first i though time was something we humans created as a way of organising ourselfs I suppose - but then when I heard of time dilation - which is very real (at high velocities) i.e it slows down??? how can something that we imagine (time) slow down - so then it muts not be in our imaginations at all!!!!!!!!!!

  • so ur telling me that times exist, we can go past by past

present future with no linear events

happening between them, like as far as i know yeah we are living on a three dimentional world, we dont understant a lot of things, we think we do but, there is a long way before the human race can understant how its universe really works

  • I cannot quite understand what your saying but i will try to agrue. are u saying that time does not exist so that it cannot be stopped so liners event cannot be haulted or freezed in time??? but all i am saying is if time is something we created as an asbtraction, which should, for e.g. we age less (twin paprdox) we at hid speed, surely time cannot slow because it does not exists so what going on. by the way time dilation is a rudimentary way of going into future I suppose.

  • below "which should" should be "why should." anyway read the below and continuning here - your right i think saying that time travel (going in to the past now) it self takes time - which therefore is a liner event as you said, but if it could be done at the speed of light, then time is completely haulted and the trasition of going into the past takes no time at all until you arrive in some past time.

  • what a waste of time
