Shame on Royal Oak. Back some months ago, Royal Oak police confiscated a medical marijuana patients medicine. The man that got busted was perfectly legal for what he had. The city seems to think that marijuana patients can only possess marijuana that came from their caregiver. The law allows for persons with a medical authorization, to possess marijuana. No if's,and's,or buts. The source of the marijuana is immaterial.
We like to remember the glory days, instead of making new days. There are still great local businesses in Royal Oak, especially on Washington. As a Royal Oak resident, I love these skyscrapers & lofts. We garner taxes from wealthy, young professionals who usually don't have kids or demand any services. They don't even need trash pick up! So keep the money coming in to make my kids' schools better. These same people eat out more & shop more thus supporting that culture so many of you people miss.
I have never seen another building look so out of place in my life. They couldn't have tried to make it look a little more authentic to the city? Really?
And the concrete wall that faces my home and allows those "penthouse" owners to see into my bedroom is horrendous.
As a resident of Royal Oak, I really like this, but I wish they would do something to the other sides of the building that are, I think concrete, Idk, but they should have decorated it. Maybe that whale mural that used to be in Detroit, I don't know just something.
oakroyal, your talking of "Royal Joke", yeah my dad grew up in that time!
Bringing in more people, businesses, and developments has increased the city's tax revenues (way better than a tax hike). Buildings like this are much more enviro-friendly than the old "sprawl". No filling in wetlands, energy efficient units, and no need to drive 30 miles to get ??? reducing dependency on foreign oil. The growth of Royal Oak is creating jobs! "Large structures" belong in a city, and add a new element to our existing culture - we're growing more diverse. I think more alluring!
royal oak used to be an incredible city, small town charm with edgy punk rock kids. huge chains and over development has really damaged the culture that once was royal oak. the "urban movement" is only about making money, rather than perserving culture. hand over fist.
Royal Oak was much more fun and the crowd that was hanging out in Royal Oak was much better when the new structures didn't exist. I wish Royal Oak stayed like it was in the 90's. Take your big buildings and move them to Birmingham. They would look better over there.
I think it's beautiful and ultra modern!!! Thanks for sharing this video. I always wondered what it looked like inside there.
I walked by it all the time.

It's just an odd looking building and as already mention it just doesn't fit in with the surrounding area.

I love that Washington is seeing such a significant development! Let's hope that it helps the terrific businesses along Washington!

I remember when Royal Oak was just Washington Theater, Royal Drugs, Klebbas, Nisners, Grinnels, and Wayne Oakland Bank.
