Pink Floyd reform for a gig at Knebworth. First time they've seen each other for a year. This couldnt have anything to do with trying to steal Roger Waters' thunder for his forthcoming mega-gig in Berlin two weeks later could it? It couldn't be them saying 'we are Pink Floyd and you're not', could it? Of course not. Ahem.
I've been listening to this badass song ever since this live cd came out in 1990 & I still can't understand a damn word that comes out of the bass player's (Guy Pratt) mouth. LOL
the stadium rocker to end all stadium rockers!!!!anyone who knows pink floyd.......anyone who cares about pink floyd......knows that this concludes any gig by the BEST EVER ROCK BAND........strunning,absolutely stunning
,come on dave and roger give your long suffering fans what they want... a "fairwell to the world" final tour in loving memory of rick and sid..........we want it............the watching world deserves it......................."is there anybody out there"....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roger waters "run like hell" IN THE WALL 1990 better than this??? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ur a joke mate...... it was the poorest concert featuring Pink Floyds music.. you know why? coz it had 2nd hand bad musicians!
I just know I'm going to get flamed for this, but it's what I think. I agree that some of the songs were horrible (the worst was another brick in the wall part two), but many songs were awesome. Run Like Hell from Berlin was awesome, as was Comfortably Numb, Young Lust, and In The Flesh. All the songs were perfomed the way they originally were, (as a story) and while the original concerts from 1980-1981 were the best of all, Berlin ranks right behind the originals.
@enzo2enzo2enzo When you call Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Van Morrison, The Scorpions, Paul Carrack, Cyndi Lauper, Thomas Dolby, and even Sinead O'Connor "second-hand bad musicians", you are the the joke, pal. This Knebworth gig is better than The Wall In Berlin, yes - but not because of the "second-hand" musicians who were part of the band. Go back to your hair metal, and leave this to the people who actually KNOW music.
I am sure they genuinely cared for the music charity this gig was raising money for but the main reason the 3-piece Pink Floyd reformed for this show was to steal Roger Waters' thunder as his 'The Wall: Live In Berlin' gig that was taking place the same month. The 3-piece Floyd had done nothing for 2 years then reformed for this. Waters' gig in Berlin was the biggest show ever, and was getting huge amounts of publicity. This performance here was to tell the world 'we are Pink Floyd, not him'.
@EnglishChannel1 DUDE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOUR ON ABOUT !!!!!!! Reformed for this gig ? they had been on tour since late 87 with momentary tour and had agreed to this along time ago as thats why there wer given headline above McCartney and the likes as they were the first band to agree to play knebworth 90 !!! And Waters gig in Berlin was shit and i went it was a good spectacle but some of the bands singing was a joke i was also at this and many other floyd shows including Versailles,
@NOODLES38 The tour ended one year before this in Marseilles, France. These big bands tour, then end the band for that phase until they reform again some years later. This is true of the Rolling Stones aswell as Floyd. You dont get the Stones doing one-off gigs, nor do you with Pink Floyd (except here). They reformed to steal the thunder from their former colleague Mr R Waters. This was 30 June 1990, Roger's gig was 21 July 1990 - just three weeks later. Too much of a co-incidence otherwise.
@EnglishChannel1 Wembley ,Werchter and Maine rd and know which i'm glad i went to and i'm not a waters hater either i'm goin the wall tour and have seen him many times but please don't talk shit bout things you've no idea about !!!
Love this dvd, many great bands and artists for a good cause. I wish Floyd's entire set was included though. It was great, fucking great...apart from original 'Great Gig In The Sky' vocalist, Clare Torry, singing it almost 2 decades later, not so good, they should have done 'On The Turning Away' instead of that.
@aderham6 He's employed by them mostly because he is Richard Wright's son-in-law. He is also a loooooooong-time acquaintance of Mr. Gilmour.-----just sayin :)

For me, I just cant get Pink Floyd, they seem so dull, turgid, formulaic and boring. It is just me I know, because I know they have a huge following. I wasnt there, couldnt get tickets, they were sold out so quickly we hung on the phone all darn day lol, but, bloody hell this brings back memories! Thank you!!
ah happy memories....i was there very near the front.....the only reason i went was for the Floyd.......i mean you wouldnt stand in a field all day to watch the likes of Cliff Richard and Status Quo for any other reason!!! lmao
The whole song is awsome but the first two minutes are probably the best moment in music history...this is definitely the best version of this song, much better than Pulse and a few points ahead Delicate Sound of Thunder.
I have this performance on VHS. The set list includes 5 songs
Shine on
Sorrow
WYWH
Comfortably Numb
Run Like Hell
The DVD only contains 2 of those songs, from what I hear. I know that in reality they performed more then just those 5, any Idea on how I can hear any of those extra songs?.

I think there are a few references to Syd on the Wish You Were Here album too.Somwhere in the songs Wish You Were Here and Shine On You Crazy Diamond which were written about Gilmour.Wish You Were Here was written about David? He was already there. Why would he help write a song about himself not being in the group anymore when he was in the studio with the same group writing the music to the song about himself not being in the group anymore?Do any of you idiots even think before you start typing?

Every time I see a Pink Floyd concert video I want to call an old friend who bought his groomsmen Floyd tickets the weekend of his bachelor party and say "Thank you". It was the Division Bell tour, documented on the Pulse dvd. If I had never seen them live, these videos would be too painful to watch.
I also remember listening to this live on the radio as well. I was growing up in the US and with the time zones this was on in the middle of the afternoon as my mother was trying to get me to cut the lawn or something outside. haha! I actually stuck a tape in and recorded PF's set while I was outside. I found that cassette today while cleaning some stuff out and then came to see if anyone had the video. Thanks to carrasclost for posting this!!!
