  • nice videos mac! thanks.

  • Interstate 80 goes through my town also! Saw the sign in the video...I think that's what it said...

  • That car seems to ride, shift, run, brake, and handle so smooth! Very quiet, like a new car. Did you have the yellow parking lights on for this? It looks so cool coming at you with them on. What kind of mileage does it get?

  • About 15-16 in the city (with a VERY light foot), 22 on the highway. Better than the 13 mpg city mileage we used to get with our '68 Impala with a 307 V8.

  • I guess that's not too bad for most cars of that era. I remember seeing an add from 1978 for the new Delta 88 Olds, which got 17 city/25 hwy. And it's not bad if you don't drive it much, like you said, once a week. If I come to Chicago, maybe we can hook up and you can show me around...if it's no bother. I'd really like to visit the city someday.

  • Thanks for the tour! I have always wanted to see what Chicago looks like, but now I can watchit from my computer! I would still like to visit someday, anyway. Gotta love the Caprice! Runs very quiet, love the sound upon acceleration!

  • How did you keep the camera so still?

  • It was mounted on a tripod that was strapped to the seat frame with bungee cords.

  • nice, smooth video. thanks.

  • the highway looks pretty empty. i wish it was like that here in new jersey.

  • This was about 8:00 on a Saturday morning. I assure you, neither the Dan Ryan or Lake Shore Drive are places you would want to be driving on a weekday. Or a Sunday, for that matter. Especially this year, with the local lanes of the Ryan being rebuilt;-)

  • I always thought sunday was a nice day to drive. I live in Park Ridge and when I do venture into the city it's usually on sundays =P.

  • Whoever set the speed limit to 45 on the freeway MUST raise it to 50 or 55 mph.

  • Hopefully they can, now that they've reconfigured things. But if the accident rate stays where it was before the rebuilding, they might have to lower it again. The uphill curve near 47th Street was the worst; 3-6 accidents a month (a haz-mat truck overturned in 2001), and I could hear the collisions when I was home.

  • Go film down stony i. or cottage grove and see the slums im talking about. I love the soutside but man (grew up on 66th/kedzie), it's crap compared to the north.

Crusing on lake shore up to south shore is a beautiful ride though and often there's little to no traffic past rush hour. props on that.

  • First of all, I live on the south side, and if you've keet your eyes open during my videos, you've undoubtedly noticed it's not all a slum.

Second, there's enough videos of the north side on YouTube already, none of them yours. You like the north side so much, get out your camcorder, shoot your first video and show us what you like about it!

  • I miss Chicago. Driving on I-55 past the Campbell's Soup factory, going to the International Amphitheater. The original Sox park. And who can forget the rlectic Magikist Sign on the Dan Ryan. (the big red lips)

  • And the big neon Sinclair gasoline sign at (I think) 79th St., with the dinosaur that tipped its hat and wagged its tail:-)

  • this guy likes the south side, get outta the slum and go to the north side

  • I don't like the north side anymore. Too many damn teenyboppers that have ruined everything (specifically Lakeview and Lincoln Park). They should all go to CA where they belong. The south side is pretty nice because it still has reminders of Chicago's past.

  • You guys have problems with teenagers over there in Lakeview too? And I thought Avondale (the neighborhood I live in) had problems, and this is coming from a teenager!

  • I had a 1977 Caprice that went from Ohio to Chicago many times to Sox games via IN Toll Road, Skyway,Ryan to 43rd to Halsted and parked near 37th Place on Halsted and walked to the games...stopped at Ramova Grill for great cheap food before games and Schaller's Pump for butt steak after, and always got some Old Style at Brennan's Liquors for the passengers.
