  • I remember being 12 or 13 back in 81' or 82'. When I first started getting high. I listened to Zeppelin, Styx, Foreigner, I heard this, loved it, then started listening to floyd. lol Billy Thorpe nailed it here...

  • its a gasser,this tune be!!!

  • music travels in orbit like the planets and atoms --- give is 50 to 100 years --- a life in the eye of a person --- but a blink to God (if there is one) ----music soothes the savage beast --- a great song

  • I grew up with some of the BEST music there has ever been. Including this one. The 50's, 60's, 70's and the 80's.I HATE today's music. Thank you for sharing! :-)

  • @fuggindoosh all he said was that he wishes that he grew up with decent music, why would you insult him for that? frankly I agree 99.9999% of music and entertainment as a whole sucks ass these days, and I too wish I could have grown up anytime before the 90's people were different as society then; they didn't have computers they could hide behind and lock themselves away like fucking recluses you actually had to go out an interact with people just to get music it ways wayyyyy fucking better tha

  • very good head music and ur right headphones do it justice or surround sound stereo. This is music not that crap we have now days. A lot of groups have lost touch with good music. U cant understand a damn word they say . Luv Karen Virginia

  • This is a great song we use to play this song at the beach.

  • This song was made for headphones

  • I was in grade 12 when this song came out, it was only on air for a short time before it was pulled. There's a documentary floating around about Billy Thorpe and is a good watch if you want to learn about him. Some good memories of cruising with buddies and listening to this.

  • i like it guess from my time

  • used ride around listening to this all night on my 8 track.... wow... old shit. TY

  • @whipzter2 OMGosh....I remember the 8track....SMH....:0)

  • Killer Stuff !!!! nuff said...........Warren B.

  • Excellent sound quality. Sounds just like my studio version. Great post! Love this song. I wasn't aware Billy Thorpe had passed away. At least we can still enjoy this song when he was young & lucky to be able to record it for us to enjoy!

  • @2cruiz4vr did not know he passed either.. bummer... the rat race got me and I am trying to come back home

  • A classic & great video. Billy may be gone but never forgoten !

  • Why do I have to be in the crappy hip hop era... that "music" is embarassing...

  • My penis has a sore on it.

  • so there are so many people who know nothing about Mr.Thorpe !!!!!!!! He was with Boston so get a little older before making statements about one hit wonders. It was wrote for the Heavy Metal sound track!

  • omg people who can sing and play intraments . :P

  • Great tune!!! It's a shame Billy was a one hit wonder. :-(

  • AGELESS & TIMELESS!

  • I was only 16 when I heard this. I thought it was a bad ass song, Which it is

  • this song's got a nice far out cosmic texture to it. sounds like a Heavy Metal magazine come to life.. .. ..

  • What a great fuckin song. Nuff said.

  • New music is for Punks... This song ROCKS... New music makes me PUKE. All new music is good for is for kids driving in their mommy and daddy's LEASED Domestic car cranking NIGGER MUSIC at stop lights...

    THIS Was Rock and Roll...

    Peace

  • gosh i wish i grew up with this music but being 13, i'm going to have to say i'm embarrassed with music from my era

  • @PensandSteelersrock Smart kid. AND YOU ARE CORRECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PENS AND STEELERS RULE BRO!!! PEACE!!!!

  • @StaalRulz2010 You are the MAN, dude! Hahaha, Go Steelers, and long live classic rock!

  • @PensandSteelersrock Right there with you

  • @PensandSteelersrock Buddy...if you're looking up this song, and know just how awful most of our generations music is then you should have some faith. Good music hasn't gone anywhere. It's just hard to find sometimes. =D

  • @PensandSteelersrock - Well, young guy, half the battle is admitting today's music doesn't rate. It's one marketing project after another. Even got American Idol and crap to emphasize that point... Keep rocking to stuff like this. You'll be better off.

  • @classic96g Ok. Comments like Pensandsteelersrock are common and usually by people much older than they claim to be. I don't know their motive but it's getting pretty old.

  • @PensandSteelersrock not your fault, but yea.. your era does suck for quality artists. Just go get some of your parents music out hunny

  • @PensandSteelersrock its embarrassed of u too. :O <3

  • @PensandSteelersrock Nobody cares you pathetic little freak! You should be embarrassed that you have to rely on stupid comments such as that one to gain your own personal satisfaction.

  • @PensandSteelersrock but...you're enjoying it now! that's very cool. :)

  • People of the earth can you hear me ?

  • This song takes me way back to my days right out of high school working on the loading docks at about 1:00 in the morning. Very cool.

  • 5*****, thank you,, peace brother

  • Kool song

  • I love it when young assholes tell me the music I grew up with sucks , I bet they could'nt even dial a phone

  • @kjmg65 Thats ok, most of them don't know what real music is anyway...rap...ha what a joke!, i raised my kids on pure rock and roll, and later one of them became a talented musician, who loves and understands real music! take care...and ...Rock On!

  • @angileek42 thanks.......... how about you?

  • @Cameronm55 Best answare EVER!!!

  • @angileek42 You deserve to be publicly burned at the stake before a crowd of your friends, family, and dozens of animals with a comprehension of the English language, all the while sexually molested by honey badgers...cause they don't give a shit

  • @angileek42 you suck fag nards

  • That song brings back a lot of memoires

  • @tnsodman God Bless You & thank you for your service.

  • This was one piece of side A of the Children of the Sun album. Side A was a 20+ minute song that included this song...a must to listen to thru headphones!!

  • those were the days boys

  • The first 30 seconds = Giygas? o.O

  • This was the alpha and omega!

A great song to kick off the 80's. This song came out in 1979 and rang in an era of music that the world had never seen and was a good buy to the classics. This was the "Good By" to the revolution of rock.

  • this WAS the time and sound for kids in their early teens during the 70's & 80's. I remember buying this odd looking LP. it was the LP that this song came from.

  • this WAS the time and sound for kids in their early teens during the 70's & 80's. I remember buying this odd looking LP. it was the LP that this song came from. Artificial Paradise.

  • @tnsodman Thank you for your service man.

  • The best of the 70s and 80s were those I knew who served this great country. The rock songs of that era served to inspire us and give us memories of the US when we returned from overseas. I believe this song is about hope for the future, not about trashing your brain on drugs.

  • I always stop what I'm doing when I hear this song. I work with 20 year olds who are digging it! Classic!

  • Mannnnnn..how could anyone click "dislike" on this? Song was a huge rock radio hit in the midwest, and still a staple on some stations that haven't sold out their souls. First time I heard it I think was on KY-102 ("We ROCK Kansas City"). Then I played it hundreds of times later in my own radio career. RIP Billy, and thanks for this priceless, timeless classic!

  • @tnsodman Welcome home Bro...

  • it came out in 79...and it was and still is DOPE!!!

  • "Everyone felt the sound of the heartbeat" and we hear four heart beats.

"through the door to a world of another time"

Sounds like Time Lords to me... ;)

  • this is just my interpretation, but doesnt the first 3:30 of this song seem to clearly talk about some kind of other wordly beings visiting the ppl of earth. what those beings actually are is unknown, the maya are known for being "children of the sun". "as the ships came one by one" beam of light hits the ground" seems to clearly talk about some kind of visitation doesnt it?

  • @caddyrolla123 i think it's much more overt than that even.

  • @caddyrolla123 Of course it does, hehe. I mean, it's not as if the lyrics are puzzling or confusing. Children of the Sun is all the life on Earth, particularly humanity. :)

  • This whole album had tons of bass on it! awesome to crank up in the car!

  • best thru head phones but you prob all ready knew that...

  • love this song!

  • Clearly -this is one of the best rock vocalists and one the best rock vocal track I have yet to hear-it has to be near the top of my top 10- Markrevival you are right-the early sound effects have a charm all of their own

  • Great song, it brings back memories.

  • as a young teenager surrounded in the new shit, I will proudly admit that i am jealous that you guys could say you liked this song in school without eeing looked at as a wierdo. what happened to experimental rock? these dudes took a chance and hit the jackpot!

  • @Mrcoolaidman72 get your friends stoned enough, and with luck they'll get into the good shit.

  • Awesome song!

  • Is everyone ready for four million Kelvin!? Tough shit bitches you should have paid attention!

  • Now this is fuckin kickass. Today's tweeters don't know shit about that.

  • The sound of too much studio time.... sounds badly dated.

  • @MarkRevival just as I enjoy pre-CGI special effects in movies, I enjoy the sound of dated music... to each their own, I guess.

  • Rest in peace brother... You will be greatly missed...

  • this is a classic... well crafted rock and roll

  • People of the Earth: 2012?

    youtube.com/watch?v=dpl9P0eVGYo

  • Did this cat do anything else noteworthy???

  • @PlanTonto He was big in Australia. He led a band in the 60's called Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, kinda Beatles-like. No other hits like this though...

  • Light your lighters.....Spark up that Doobie.....Take a mind altering chemical? Brings back memories!!!! You are truly missed...... Think of all the lyrics written about other beings...... Be prepared..... 2012...... Bright Blessings lol

  • All time great song! Love the guitar part @ 6:24 thru 6:27. As always I'm late finding out about things. Just found out that Billy Thorpe has passed away. What happened?

  • listened to this many years ago still a great song thanks for posting

  • very cool song. Long live the 80s.

  • Simply a wicked song, brings back great memories.

  • This sound takes you right back to those days, trapped under a blazing hot Sun, surrounded by far-out freaks who keep turning Purple and whisping off into space

like a slowly rising incense stick, wondering if they would ever return, or if you yourself was about to vanish as well. 6:46 minutes is only enough to serve as a travel brochure back , but certainly this little vacation was enjoyable. Thanks.

  • Fantastic song, I remember when my dad played it when I was a little girl.

  • this song gives me chills....ITS Def one of those songs you gotta CRANK UP!!!

  • amen....and in hebrew that means"so be it"!!!this is one of the best tunes ever made!!!!

    lmao

  • one of the best ever

  • Neat song gotta love the classics

  • Had on 8 track, whole album rocks. Not available on CD because of legal dispute.

  • @bostonjerk - I have it on CD

  • Absolute Masterpiece!

  • hell yah

  • blown my speakers several times jamming to this kickass tune!!!!

  • TKD, it WAS a song about beings from space. The album (which I had as a teenager) was a theme album about another race coming to Earth to save the remaining humans after their nuclear wars killed billions. All of the tracks on the LP were great. At the very end was a NON-related track that Thorpe did just for fun, called "In My Room." It too was kick-ass especially for an adolescent such as my (then) self.

  • P.S. I should have said at the end of the SECOND Album in the saga, "21st Century Man." I think though that when they re-released both albums, "In My Room" was omitted. Bastages.

  • I saw a UFO some years ago. That IS what the song is about. It was triangular with lights on two sides. Nearly silent but for 0:12 / 6:45. Not so loud but certainly the same buzz.

  • One of my all time favorite guitar entries. It starts all quiet and gets louder with the perfect amount of flange to make it fit.

  • Comment removed

  • i think this song is about E.Ts coming to earth just listen to the lyrics, it COULD be....

  • this song came out in 1979 or 80 i believe. i was still in h.s. back then. i wouldnt trade growing up in the 70'sand 80's for all of today's technology. school sucks way worse for my kids now then it did back then. music today dosent even compare, and todays generation may think they party but we partied hardy.

  • @pjbmrad ROCK ON, you are so exceptionally right.

  • @pjbmrad -" AMEN TO THT PAL! We KNEW how to do it and do it right. One phone ccall to one of our friends on a fir night and WHAM the whole gang showed at the spcified place ready to party and have fun. Those were the good times, fun times, enjoyable times for US the children of the 70' -80's."

  • @pjbmrad ...I feal your pain brother. We lived like fuckin ceaser. Today? Generation tampon? Poor bastards have been swallowed by the all mighty vagina, and the dissenters amongst them think sticking a cock in your ass is fun... helmets, seat belts, and japanese cars are to blame. CHEERS.

  • Good song.....

  • This song kicks ass... Us Children who came from our Home... The other Planet know that!

  • my old freinds in the 80s used to drop acid, turn off all the lights and lay on their backs while listening to this. I didn't do drugs but I was drunk by then...lol this was the first 45 record I bought! great song!

  • At this point in time simply Sublime. Great legacy Billy, Well done, you live on and I am so glad to hear you.
