The animation design was, in fact, done by the same guy who drew Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT. Akira Toriyama, (He's labeled as the artist on the Wikipedia page), So you might see some design similarities in the art. This becomes especially obvious when you see the characters casting spells, they glow gold and their hair starts going upwards.

As much as Crono has good weapons and the best light magic spell, Luminaire, Magus' Dark matter is just as powerful, and his magic and attack stats are through the roof. He's basically a one man wrecking crew. The thing I don't like about him is that he's not a team player. He has a grand total of zero dual techs and all his triple techs require items to activate. However, he does about as much damage alone as most pairs do together, so if you don't mind that, use him all you like.

Ahh well I am a huge magus fan myself, but unfortunately your wrong. Sort of. Magus has more modifiers for his level 2 elemental spells. However if you max out everyones magic stat you will find that not only is illuminaire more powerful than dakmatter, but so is flare :( It kinda pisses me off.

@ScttDynamite220 I usually fight lavos (all three stages) with Chrono magus and Marle. All I do is confuse luminare dark matter aura whirl exlixr mega elixr when needed and marle has life 2 which revives to full health which is great considering lavos can kill you in one shot sometimes

@ScttDynamite220 As much as I want to agree with you that Magus is awesome, Dark Matter isn't as powerful as Luminaire, and not even the same as Shock. Both Shock and Luminaire are more powerful.. you just need to even Magus, Chrono and Robo's Magic stat to ** (99) and you'll see. In my opinion, the one man crew character is Robo, who's great with physical and magical attacks, has many elements, and also heals greatly.

tbh, the "best" team is actually Crono, Ayla, and Robo (this is generally considered to be the best team). If you give Magic Tabs to Robo, his all heal tech can fully heal everying, plus he leanrs a fire tech and a light tech.  Ayla because she is the strongest physically, plus she has charm. Crono because....well because he's the best character period (the only think he lacks is healing and you don't really need two white mages).

That "best" team is NOT the best. As I stated in my other response, there's no point for Robo to use magic at ALL; the Crisis Arm is more than sufficient with Rocket Punch. Ayla does very little compared to Robo with the Crisis Arm, so just get Marle to Haste Robo so he can do it twice as often. As for Crono, his Luminaire is good for damaging both pods and Lavos simultaneously, plus he can deal a decent amount of damage to a single target.

No. The best team is Robo (once his max HP is 999 wearing the Crisis Arm), Marle and Crono. Use Marle to Haste Robo and keep his HP at 999 at all times while using Rocket Punch, which makes him hit 9999 damage every hit. Have Crono use Luminaire constantly to deal damage to all the monsters, and when your whole party's HP drops low, use his and Marle's dual-tech to heal your whole team.

surely frog would be better, because he has a full party healing spell, and magic caps are abundant, so just give him a few and that way you have 3 competant damage dealers, and full group healing without requiring duel techs

Than who? Better than Marle? The reason Marle is better than Frog is because of her Haste spell. Plus, Chrono and Marle's dual-tech will heal 500-600 per person, which will only have to be used every few rounds.

Marle is widely considered the WORST character (and for good reason). If you give Magic Tabs to Robo, he'll end up being a better healer (plus he knows three different element techs; one shadow, one fire, one light). As for Haste, later in the game your speed will be plenty high because of SPD Tabs. And being that fast is not important unless you're trying to beat Zeal Lavos in first playthrough.

The higher your base speed, the better Haste affects you, so that argument did nothing but bolster my own. Why the hell would you even want to use any elemental techs with Robo? Just equip the Crisis Arm and then spam Rocket Punch; you'll deal max damage EVERY hit, so long as his HP ends in a 9 every time he attacks.

Having Robo do 9999 damage twice as often is far better than having someone else dealing like 2-3k damage, max, and having Robo do that same damage half the time, plus him healing.

well if you have haste helms, she can be replaced, and if you are going for the best team, you would be expected to have good items by endgame/newgame. and heal beam/heal always healed about 400 or more for me, and I'd prefer to have another luminaire than waste a turn using two characters to heal.

It's true that Haste Helms can replace Haste with Marle, but to get enough for all characters takes a couple runs through, at least. Still, I find her and Chrono's healing to be the best, as it heals all party members to full while Robo can keep pummeling with Rocket Punch.

trying out aura spin compared to heal, I've found they heal roughly the same, maybe spin aura a little less, and I used Marle a lot more than Frog or Robo which doesn't help her case. I still think Frog as healer suffices much more than Marle.
