Viewing this video now in 2011, it's interesting to see that some features on this car are actually in use today. The colour coded tacho and the LED lights for instance, touch screens and the more retro look on some cars especially around the front and mudguards. Thankfully airbag suspension is not widely used outside of luxury models as it's reliablity after 5 years is somewhat dubious.
all of you shut the fuck up. by all of your fucking principle, are you saying that a Lamborghini should be labeled as a German and an Audi? or that a Pagani should be labeled as a German Mercedes because of its AMG engine? or that a ford isn't australian because it has an american engine? all cars these days use bits from other manufacturers. its called trade and exchange. shut the fuck up and appreciate this marvel of Australian engineering. how come you yanks couldn't make this? dicks.
@tjk259 - Mate, concepted, designed and built in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia means the bloody car is Australian, why do yanks feel they need to lay claim to everyone elses shit, keep your nose out of our business or we might teach you a hard lesson shithead.
This is an awesome car! You know, I was thinking that maybe in the future cars will back to be like the cars of 1950s or 1960s, but with modern curve. It could be really nice!
@PlayActiv no its not. three separate companies that are basically cousins. use each others concepts and parts but sell in different regions in the world. retard.
Take a hint American motor manufactures restyle the cars to the older American designs not these no body line asian POS cars and theyd sell ie the camaro and mustang production lines cant keep up with demand I first saw this car with three others and all of us were dissapointed to read that its not a production model Id love an Efijy if I could afford one
As an Aussie, it gives me the shits when other Aussies have a go at the Yanks.
It seems many don't realise that even though we have many great muscle cars they nearly always have American parts, including the Efijy, which has that wonderful Corvette motor.
Give credit where credit is due and stop your bitchin!
@cyfnos44.....Umm...I hate to tell you....BUT Holden have always had connections with GM as far back as 1914 and finally came part of the GM umbrella in 1931 to become General Motors-Holden.....I suggest you do some studying on Holden, Boyo!
This is exactly what is wrong with (expletive deleted) auto makers. They make an outstanding car that would make them tons of money if they produced it, but they don't. They continue to make cars like the Chevy Cobalt and Ford Focus. Hey GM How about an electric version of this baby. I would buy one.
exactly what i said. if they made this how could you not buy it just look at it. when i saw it in the detroit auto 05 show in person my jaw just dropped its so beautiful.. but i knew that they would not make it
Damn...I thought the retro look on the outside of the car was outstanding, but then he shows the modern/retro features on the inside and it just blew me away!! That car is amazing!
Beautiful car, I cant help but think that this car is completely inspired by the famous Barris built Matranga Custom 1940 Mercury.
The window lines are exactly the same, they even copied the caddilac sombrero hubcaps and even the unique eggplant color. That said, its still a beautiful car!
Beautiful car! It is a blend of old-fashioned (1950's shark teeth grill, fenders, GPS menus) and futuristic stylings. My only question : Does it come in black?
I am the proud owner of an FJ Holden Panel Van and I've always been dreaming about putting up to date tech beneith the body shell. Hell! Why don't they put that Efijy into minor series production - let's say 500? It would easily compete with cars like the BMW Z8. There must be quite a bunch of car buffs around who have already made incredible offers to make that beauty theirs...

on the contrary, the company is owned by americans, the only thing american about 70% of new holdens (commodore) are in fact australian designed, funded, assembled in australia, with exceptions of the bottom end of engines and the gear boxes/drive line
This Concept CAR is what HOLDEN should put into production and mix it with the big boys Ferrari.
All it needs is a Hydrogen Fuel System, that will allow it to be not just Australia's BEST Car, but the BEST Car in the World.
I am sure that if Holden announced to but 1,000 into a limited production that they would fill the full order before the last rolled of the line, Elizabeth SA Plant could be extended to the soon to be old Mitsubishi Plant and the JOB losses from that plant could be fixed
Holden have been designing car's right back to the 30s with chev gear in them you nob before that they made horse drawn carriages and saddles. All OZ.
She's a nice set of wheels. And contrary to comments it is built in Aussie. And holden is an aussie brand. Ford (Falcon) is also a aussie brand. Perhaps they could do a remake XYGT?
