  • Omg I used to love this game and Rocky!

  • oh, they're exploding arrows. that makes more sense.

  • Damn i still remember the open stage music like it was a hour ago.

  • OK, first let me start with a predisclaimer, I am old enough to have received PONG for christmas, then the Atari, so, I have had many systems, all the way to my 360. Rambo was one of my favorite SMS games, but what I always found funny was that the POW's gave him all the neccessary weapons and explosives...Huh??? Why didn't they break themselves out years ago then??? The other thing that was great, bullets that only go 15 feet or so before dissappearing like a fart into thin air?

  • @ninjasaki1969 ROTFL "disappearing like a fart into thin air" hahaha

  • @345nsg4945g Thats Official!!!

  • hehe a lot of people hated the NES version of rambo.. i actually enjoyed it.. ( well only later on when i got an emulator and was able to save/load states.. other than that the game was a fucking pain in the ass...)

  • me n my cuz summer late nites boy 0 boy playin till r thumbs were sore

  • Secret Commando - European Release / Rambo - U.S Release. Copyright Law issue.

  • @mechahalcon Ashura - Japan Release

  • IDIOT FUCKING BITCH!

  • THIS GAME RULEZ

  • Damn I so remember playing this whemn I was little..

    Haha good times..

  • Commando was good this one was better but Ikari warriors was a very long game! It took hours to complete! I love them all!

  • This looks like a great game to me. It reminds me of Ikari Warriors and Who Dares Wins II.

  • I like those older games better than the newer ones. I think the former were more oriented to having fun.

Not that today's games aren't fun or good, but I think there's too much attention to making them look real, like realistic graphics.

Of course, it was easier to be creative and do original stuff in the past.

  • Holy shit, Secret Commando! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!

  • This game looks awesome.......I had the Master System but not this game. I had Merc's for the Genesis which is pretty similiar.

  • Rambo SMS > Ikari Warriors NES

Ohh the hours I put in on this game...

I Love the epic music. Now I gotta look up Black Belt and Outrun

  • cool memories

  • god master system was so much better than NES, its realy a shame that people always like what sucks ass, like i pod for example.

  • ha ha save the black people

  • looks like the movie expendables

  • Its soundtrack is awesome!!

  • what a F-in game!!! old school!!!

  • Never tought i'de ever see this game again!

    Takes me back....

  • I remember playing this as little kids with my bro. Those were the good times.

  • This video game lives up to the blood and gore of the movies

  • I cant get by the first leval on this one XD

  • there was a rambo 4 sega?

  • LOL when i was small always thought they were monkeys (when you destroy the huts)

  • my favorite game of all

  • lol, didn't Sega release this game as "Commando"? Apart from the title screen, it's exactly the same game :-S

  • @CrazyShacklez

You're right, SEGA could'nt get the proper licensing for the game over here in the UK and Europe, so over here, this was known as "Secret Command", intro aside, its the exact same game.

  • @CrazyShacklez Yes, they did. In fact, it was called "Secret Commando" for the European market. It was also called "Ashura" for the Japanese market. There was no Rambo license for those regions. I have this game as "Secret Commando" as a Virtual Console title on my Wii system.

  • OMG, this game is epic. this was the first game i ever played on sega master. These are games which should be coming out. I miss the 90's & 80's.

  • This was far better than that side-scroller on the NES.

  • remind me of commando lol

  • Playing this game on my sega master system right now

  • A Rambo game that doesn't suck... I never knew about this.

  • Wonder if there's a Rambo 2 for Sega.

  • this a verry dope 8 bit game of 86' damn sweet..nice sounds ,.graphics,.cool vid thks

  • This is so much better than the NES Rambo game.

  • @TehOffensiveSpeaker getting punched in the dick is better than the NES rambo game.

  • I had this but for some reason it was called secret command in Australia and didn't have Rambo on the title screen

  • He is using a code or cheat, you can tell 2 ways one on the top left of the screen when he fires the arrows the amount never decreases, and if you get hit by the sparks the exploding arrows shoot out they kill you and i saw several clearly hit him and he did not die...Fake.

  • They decrease from 5 to 3 from 0:13 to 0:20. The thing is, he has more than 9, and 9 is the highest number it will display, so when he fires, the digit is still 9 until he has less than 9 arrows left. As for the sparks, that may be true. Can you point out a time where this happens?

  • Well I think the guy is only just wanting to show us the game ect, and not how much of a pro vintage gamer with mad skills he is, right? either way fuckin cool game, and it's really cool to see it again, brings back old memories of my sega master system, Afterburner, Kings Quest ect ect. Awsome vid, Cheers, IC.

  • my very first video game...those were the days

  • Rambo was similar to Ikari Warriors in the arcade

  • hahaha cool, reminds me to another game , similar to rambo, lool it was on the comodore

  • Man Ive played this game millions of times on the dreamcast emulator i had, up until about 2 years ago, I love this game. I wish I got to enjoy rambo 3, it didnt work on my disk.

  • And if you see a tent with a POW inside, blow it up with a Rocket Launcher!

  • Stay away from the ping pong balls Rambo! Stay away from the Ping Ping balls!

  • Man I could listen to that stage clear dingle all day. Awesome.

  • oooh the nostalgia

  • is it just me or does rambo look mexican..

  • I did not own a SMS (owned NES), but I did play Rambo, Rocky, Choplifter, Shinobi, and of course, Out Run. Those were the first line of games, which they had. Don't ya'll just miss the 80's? If you did not get a chance to enjoy the 80's, don't respond to the question.

  • Those were the best times There was something special about those games in that era...I still have my SMS and play these games often...i recently introduced my little cousins to the SMS they are PS2 fanatics ...they are totally hooked now on the SMS and believe it or not hav stopped playing on PS2 altogether

  • 2d is just better for gaming.

  • @SDSen

Those were the days, when enemy soldiers would shoot at you with low powered ping pong ball guns, and you could serpentine through enemy fire.

  • @SDSen

I agree with you, although I never owned a SMS and only played one game for it, California Games if I remember correctly... not the best game by far. I always had the impression that the SMS was not a good system, after seeing Sonic, MK2 and this version of Rambo this is really good. I love the swamps and camouflage nets. But you can only hold nine arrows or it only shows nine? I see when maxed and used it stays at nine some times. But do not throw the PS2 away, Katamari is still good

  • @Jerrid3

The reason why a lot of people thought the SMS was bad was because Nintendo locked in all the good game developers to exclusive contracts. If there had been more companies making games for SMS, it would have done a lot better. The technical specs were actually better than NES in many ways. It was the same problem that Atari had with the 7800. They had to go around and get a lot of home computer games ported over because they couldn't get many good arcade games because of Nintendo.

  • @SDSen You are a true believer of the Golden Age of Gaming..Teach the younglings the magic of Old Ways.. 2D refuses to die!

  • @sybnios thats the spirit my friend

  • This game brings me very good moments over all its music !

  • even just the music brings back memories

  • brings back memories i use to stay up late to try and beat the game love this game

  • man just listen the music, is like an hymn of the golden era that the 80s were

  • I have this game but it is called Secret Commando :S

  • I only knew the Secred Commando Version! But it looks exactly the same...Hell yeah!!! This was my favourite game!!! :)

  • wow this shit is ancient.

i used to play this a lot.thanx for posting it :D

  • Thanks for putting these up, I loved this game so much.

  • Wow I miss playing this with my cousin Matt for hours on end, the Co-op mode was awesome he would take the left side I would take the right all the way to the end, good times.

  • I remember playing this as secret command with my bro in co-op mode. just like being in "platoon" ! :D

  • I loved this game!

  • I loved this game, it was better than Capcoms commando.

  • Love the music for this game then and still love it now. I remeber beating this game when I was like 10. Are you playing an actual SMS or emulator?

  • Comment removed

  • fuck... I've never beat this game!

    you ARE rambo... ha

  • I never got past 2nd level! but wait is this rambo or secret comamndo as I remember it?

  • im thinkin that aswell. But on secret comando you could have 2 players. But it looks exactly the same game to me.

  • hell yeaah ive finish this game cool miss tha time huh

  • Man this brings back many memories. i use to play this game before i even started first grade. i use to get very far but i dont think i actually beat it. i nearly cried watching this again.

  • i used to play the shit out of that game as a kid. i never beat it though. that music is forever stuck in my head.

  • I'm recording some old sega musics these days, and this one is part of the project...gonna post the myspace link right here hehe !

  • wow that looks tough

  • this game was soooo hard... i have finished it as a kid one time... ._.

    but i love it :D

  • MAD YO

  • There is a glitch in the game. First you need to get the special arrows. Then, do not burn the houses. Move slowly up until the houses are just below the screen. Fire a special arrow at the corner of the screen where the house would be. The spark of the arrow should hit the hidden house. You should get more special arrows by doing this.

  • the version i had was called secret command too. absolutely loved that game, brings back fond memories watching this. simple plot and gameplay, would still rather play games like this than the over the top stuff they bring out today.

  • The music's surpringly.... awesome

  • lol i know, no wonder ive grown up really liking my funk, theser SMS games have crazyly groovy soundtracks beneath that sound chip.

  • I think the name of the game was "secret command" ?

  • yep, i know it as secret command as well. probably the european title or something.

  • this game was hard !

  • what a great game, best ikari clone ever.......long live the master system

  • when i saw the flamethrower guys in the third level i almost soiled my pants... i don't think i ever beat that level

  • yes

  • Why the hell was this called "Secret Commando" in the UK? At least thats what i remember it was called when i was a kid...

  • Licensing issues i tink.. also "Secret Commando" was a 2 player Co-op. Was "Rambo"??

  • Rambo was also 2 players, but to make it 2 player, Sega added the second character named Zane (who is an original character which never appeared in the movies)

  • Probably because it was a rip off of commando.

  • hmmm looks very similar but not as good as ikari warriors

  • SMS, and Rambo were my favorite game/systems as a kid! First owned an NES with ROBI the Robot but tripped over the chord, nes dropped and broke. Our friend who managed a Toys "R" Us told us that Nintendo was in trouble and was no longer manufacturing the nes, and offered us a Sega MS in replacement. So glad she did!!!

  • From what I hear, Sega Master System games will be coming to the Wii Virtual Console this month. We probably won't see this game there, due to licensing issues -- rather, we might see "Secret Command", the Eastern version of this game (which has no licensed content).

  • The master system graphics were so much better than the NES

  • i Missed Sega ):

  • You can now emulate ole consoles and ole PCs like the Amiga or C64 via emulator. w w w. r o m g u y. c o m

  • this is how rambo for the NES should have been.

  • never knew rambo was rocky

  • Much better than the NES

  • wow this makes me mwat to buy a sms from ebay and relive my childhood all over again

  • luckily you can relive your childhood via emulator, look for MEKA.

  • One of the very first games I've played!

  • wait.. weren't there 2-3 more levels? one a desert type of level and finally the city?

  • never mind.. i didnt see you uploaded the 2nd half! LOL
