Well, i just asked my instructor (Matt Altmire), why they don't score as high and its probably because they practice a lot less than the other corps do. instead of 9-9 everyday they go 2-8 on some days and even less on others, so if they get more time to work, they should score WAY higher

i'd disagree because Blue Devils practice a lot less then most other drum corps and look at them, they've won 13 Titles and haven't scored lower then 5th place in the last like 3 decades (i think).

the thing is when it comes to scoring, they score you on even the littles things but its the techy stuff like intonation and as much GE as possible and whatnot.

i base mine 50% on how they score it and the other 50% with who's show was most entertaining.

for example, look at the 2009 Blue Devils show. it wasn't very entertaining at all, in fact most people found it rather boring yet they won this years First Place position, while Boston Crusaders, who i think had the best show this year was rated 7th place because they lacked in musical and visual effect by less then 3% under the Blue Devils. but their show was the best in BC history (well 09 and 2000).

if you took entertainment to the factor, i think Pacific Crest would do pretty good as corp

i know pacific crest isn't the best drum corp on the planet, but they're far from bad. i hate it when people say corps like pacific crest and mandarins or pioneer. they get fairly decent scores anywhere from an a 77-85 which is the range some drum corps like madison scouts who get scores like 93 and 94 at times too.

its not like they don't entertain the crowd, they still do regardless. scores are based off the technical stuff.
