@Thunderhour Not necessarily, if you have a tube amp that is. Turn all the dials up on your DS2 and WH10 and get as much overdrive as you can from your amp. Shit can get pretty fucked up when doing that.

Maybe he is using an Electro Harmonix Muffin or English Muff'n as well though.

@Thunderhour well its a combo of the effects u listed, his vintage marshal amps, his 1968? (really vintage) fender strat and MOST of all his PLAYING!... i read some interview were johns tech was talking about him saying that sound has HEAPS do do with playing and that he has heard other people playing johns rig and it sounds nothin alike and also that john sounds like john no matter what guitar, amp, or effects he is using.
