  • This video should be mandatory in public schools.

  • However you got permission to show a bunch of kids factory farm footage....you people, are winners lol Going after the kids, LIKE A BOSS! go veg!

  • great video, thanks! I eat less and less meat, great message in your video! we should make meat more and more and even more expensive, that would be a start!

  • So where does our food come from?

  • Yes, the banning of gestation crates is a noble attempt at making the pigs' life as a food animal more comfortable.

Well, sort of. Instead of crates separating them and not allowing them to lie down, they're now merely piled atop one another. Still have no room, still breed disease, still miserable and enslaved.

The cages are the physical problem. The enslavement of sentient beings is the real problem. Let's ban that.

  • Bacon is baby.

  • I am VEGAN.

    It is ..Sanctuary.. wonderful. :P

  • I tried to be vegan to the best I could. Then I got sick because I didn't digest some of the veggies well. I have always hunted and fished- respecting nature I used every part of the animal and what part's I could not use such some organs my father's dogs would eat. I would rather hunt an animal that has never know a factory farm condition than to eat a cheep "Big mac". I hope laws change for the animals. From now on I will only eat what I hunt or fish- knowing it was free and healthy.

  • VEGAN FOREVER ! let's save all the animals!

  • Very disturbing! Just Wrong!

    Go Vegan please!

  • Sanctuary farms are the best things that happened to Farm Animals. Factory Farms should all Be burned down along with the people (:

  • well, isn't gypjet just a sweet slice of pie. pie made with deep insanity, hatred, uselessness, and a heap of fat fuck on top. have fun with your mental illness, and please never reproduce, although i'm sure the tragedy has already happened, multiple times (and most likely to mask his raging homosexuality and self hatred to the other americans. yee haw).

  • @ dfholton: Yes.

  • This is wonderful! I hope to intern for farm sanctuary in the summer!

  • I would love to visit this farm!!!!

  • What the fuck do you do with a bunch of animals you cant eat? You cant pay the feed bill unless you have donations. So you have people give you money to feed a bunch of animals that you belive you are saving?

  • Plant and vegetable cruelty has to be a joke right? Do your research please

  • This is something I would definitely show to my child if I had kids, so long as they were old enough to understand it.

  • the idea of animal cruelty is half-baked.... is there no plant cruelty? if the vegetarians say and believe so... then, they're bias... there no reasoned discussions here... 'plant and vegetables cruelty' think it over...

  • That's ridiculous, plants dont have a nervous system like animals and humans. Go study some biology.

  • Fantastic vid one of the best I have come across in a long time - go vegan cause the voiceless don't need your excuses

  • Save them... they need you.... they can't do it alone... you need to have feelings and ask yourself, " how would I feel?"

  • This is such an amazing video.

  • "This is such an amazing video."

You think this is amazing, you ought to check out "The Birth of a Nation", and "Triumph of the Will". These are also famous propaganda films designed to represent extreme views by sick people.

  • sheesh! what a angry meat-eater

  • It's so sad to see how angry some meat-eaters can be. Gypjet, you need to tone it down a little and even if you don't agree with a cruelty-free lifestyle, don't condemn those of us who wish to live compassionately. Eating animals and their by-products is cruel, contributes to air and water pollution, and gives us myriad diseases.

    Peace!

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Gandhi

  • Who are you effing kidding? It is you and your like who are trying to push your beliefs on others. You are the group with such voids to fill, that you must impose your silly lifestyle onto other people. For you to even speak the word "comdemn" is a joke. I don't remember any "meat eaters" insisting that you have "meat filled mondays" or any other silly and stupid bullshit. You are just a bunch of liberals who want to tell others how to live. Meat is evil, but cocaine is cool. FU

  • Get help- anger management classes come to mind. I'm not trying to impose my will on you or anyone. I just wanted to comment on the video.I have no voids; my vegan life is incredibly fulfilling. Yes, I'm liberal - so sue me, I'm in good company. And btw, I've never tried cocaine and never will - at 62, I'm living life to the fullest and have no need for mind-bending chemicals.I won't read anymore of your posts. Please open your heart a little - for the animals.

  • You might as well all yourselves the Homosexual Vegans. You all have such empty lives, that you have to create a cause to make yourself feel better. Instead of just living your lives, you feel a sick need to chastise others who don't follow your illness. Mankind would not be here if it were not for the domestication of animals. All you blind mice are rediculous, and so are your homosexual representatives. You should be ashamed using kids for your pleasures.

  • thank you! i feel like im the only one fighting against this guy! he wont shut up and he is not informed obviously.

  • Comment removed

  • It's called "supply and demand." You don't need to have a degree in economics to have a basic understanding of "supply and demand."

You buy it then they will continue to supply it. If you don't buy it they won't continue to supply it. Meat is the number 1 cause of global warming.

And the number of people who could be adequately fed using land freed if Americans reduced their intake of meat by 10%: 100 million

  • "Meat is the number 1 cause of global warming"

And people like you that believe that are the number 1 cause of laughter in the real world by normal people. Ha, you is funny.

  • it IS the number one cause of global warming. every educated person knows that. just google "factory farms" and you'll get your answers easy enough.

  • 1) I guess the 19-21th century industrial complex and unimpeded third world manufacturing industry are not as big a pollutant as cow farts huh? idiot.

    2) Global warming is bullshit and more and more of Al Gore's buddys are saying so now, and that is why the whole movement is running from it and now calling it "climate change".

    3) People with just causes don't need to prostitute kids into create a vegan hitler youth.

  • dum suck

  • Excellent video. To teach the younger ones how to treat animals will surely enlighten them for the future care of these animals. Thanks.

  • "Excellent video. To teach the younger ones how to treat animals will surely enlighten them for the future care of these animals. Thanks."

I just showed this video to 9 junior high school kids who are from a farming community and most them laughed. Even 13-14 year olds can smell bull dookey. The all agreed that they would start eating more bacon.

  • do you really have to quote everything nice anyone says and make fun of it? seriously, get a life.

  • they certainly live closer to the real world then you do. so eating fatty pork until we die of heart attacks is the "real world" to you?

  • So everyone who "eats fatty pork" is going to die of a heart attack? That is what you use to justify your beliefs? How shallow and stupid.

  • this is amazing! i did a march for this! there were shirts for $20 to go to the farm and save a lot of animals! this is so awsome!

  • You are living proof that fringe groups often recruit half wits and souless people to carry out their work. You can't even spell, but you are out front in the fight for veganism. Priceless

  • dude you dont wanna screw with me. first of all im not vegan, im vegitarian and second of all you dont need to know how to spell to know whats right or wrong. anyone knows that harming any form of living creature is horrible and inhumane.

why are you even watching this video if you dont support it?! get a life!

  • How about this Mr. Vegan/Vegie head. You are nothing but a idiot. If you live in a dwelling, you are living on land that was once animal habitat. You are responsible for displacing animals just by being alive. Your salad was delivered by a vehicle on a road that killed animals. And, I am sure if you have cancer that you will refuse all treatments since the drugs were tested on animals first. The only way for you to not be a hypocrite is to kill yourself nimrod. You are illiterate dummy.

  • No wonder, you are an idiot child who makes decisions based on emotions. FYI, global warming is such bullshit that the people getting rich off of it are now calling it climate change dummy. DO some reserch and you won't look like such a jackoff.

  • you really need to shut up cause it is very clear that you have no idea what you are talking about and it seems that your one of those people that doesnt give a shit as to whether the earth and its creatures are totally destroyed and are suffering. the best advice i can give you is to shut the hell up cause your not persuading me any time soon...

  • I think you should do some research and quit popping zits. Peta kills thousands of animals every year by puting them to sleep. Look it up genius, and then you will see how hypoctical you do gooders are. I hunt and fish and eat it all. How many animals do you think die so you can have a salad? Tons, trust me.

  • @gypjet you dumbass there are appauling conditions the animals are found in! sometimes they need to be euthanized cause of people not taking care of them, you make me sick and one of the reasons why I hate people.

  • Fabulous video, and well-suited for young viewers!

    Brilliantly narrarated!

  • The children of today are future champions and guardians of animals. We must teach them well.

Animals are our friends. We do not eat our friends.

  • "Animals are our friends. We do not eat our friends"

Not one of you stupid animals-equal-with-man idiots has a home that was not built on former animal habitat, therefore, displacing wild animals. If you really want to save the animals, kill yourselves. That is the only honorable thing to do. Now shut up while I eat my veal. Yum yum

  • The thing that i don't like about this is that the name factory farm is giving all farms a bad name. These are really not farms their slaughter houses they are not farms at all.

  • why do we allow this??

why do we buy these products??

    it has to stop !!!!

    it is crime against creation

    thanks for this vid

    winny

  • I love Farm Sanctuary so much. I would live there forever, if I could.

  • This should be compulsory viewing in all schools and how about playing it in all supermarkets once a year. Thank you, this was an extremely well put together video.

  • if some of all the meat eaters out there saw for themselves in person the horrors. just imagine your pet in their place and you may have the real story! go tour a factory farm, Abattoir or kill floor, and then you tell me, so hows that steak taste? GO VEG!

  • So you're happy to have a life based on cruelty?

  • You're an idiot and can't even spell correctly.

  • your intelligence has never been "proven" either. what gives YOU the right to live? Every creature deserves life...even YOU with your lack of compassiona and ignorance.

  • that is exactly what I said. I agree that you have a right to live and so does that chicken you ate for dinner. All lives are equal. If someone ate your family member and said it was delicious, wouldn't you be offended?

  • Higher IQ at age 10 years was associated with an increased likelihood of being vegetarian at age 30 (odds ratio for one standard deviation increase in childhood IQ score 1.38, 95% confidence interval 1.24 to 1.53). IQ remained a statistically significant predictor of being vegetarian as an adult after adjustment for social class (both in childhood and currently), academic or vocational qualifications, and sex BMJ. 2007 Feb 3;334(7587):245.

  • powerturkey1 "How are you going to raise 100,000,000 pigs?" How are you going to avoid cancer?

  • That's just it: we shouldn't BE raising a hundred million pigs. It's ridiculous how much animal flesh Americans eat... all in direct proportion to marketing and advertising from big business.) When you consider that humans do just fine without eating ANY nonhuman flesh at all, there's absolutely no sane reason for cramming so damn many of those poor fellow animals into cages. It's time to stop the insanity!

  • "It's ridiculous how much animal flesh Americans eat"

And yet, none of us would be here if it were not for the domestication of animals. Another retarded statement by you. Do you even live in the real world?

  • Did you not read the rest of my comment? It's mindless morons who continue to eat flesh because they've been conditioned like lab rats to do so, and obey advertisers.

I and some others like me refuse to buy into the myth that we need to eat meat.... and yet you call US retarded?

Think a bit more, my friend, before making angry statements.

Oh, and we have never needed to domesticate animals, we just did so out of convenience... in other words, "because we could".

  • FYI moron, mankind would never have become civilized without the domestication of animals. What part of that do you disagree with? I suggest you start learning some history. I hunt and eat venison and wild turkey, there are no "advertisers" pressuring me to do that numbnutz, so that excuse is no good. I suppose you are against fishing too?

  • Oh, so now you are so all-powerful you can see the entire civilization of mankind as it would have been without the domestication of animals? Wow, I wish I could have that power.

I think humans would have been MORE civilized if we hadn't based a lot of our industry and economy on the exploitation of animals.

The reason you eat meat is because of large companies (read: McDonald's) conditioning you to like it as a child.

And yes, I am against fishing too, although I do eat shellfish.

  • "And yes, I am against fishing too, although I do eat shellfish"

Than you are a hypocrite and a murderer by your own standards. Shellfish have families too. Haven't you seen a train of Lobsters walking on the ocean floor holding hands? Do you see how stupid you people are?

  • Wrong again. I don't eat crustaceans, just clams and mussels. They have no brain, unlike lobsters.

What do you have against vegetarians, anyway? Why does it bother you so much that we don't eat animals? What possible difference could it make to you?

Or is there something else going on here? Perhaps you are attempting to justify your own food choices. Well, sorry, but you have to live with your own conscience. Every bite of your fellow animals tells of your ethics and morals.

  • You are hypocrites and zealots. You don't eat animals, but you support peta killing thousands of animals. You prop yourselves up as superior, but you all still use leather, have wood homes, use medicine and cosmetics that were not possible if not for the torture of animals and you you have the stupid nerve to convince yourselves that you don't do any harm to animals.

  • You are wrong in so many ways, I don't even know where to start.

I live in a concrete apartment. I don't buy leather.

"medicines and cosmetics that were not possible except for the torture of animals"? Right. I'm sure Revlon would have never developed eye liner without testing it first on rabbits. Give me a break..

I can tell you one thing, I sure as hell don't use cosmetics.

Again: why are you so angry? How do our dietary choices affect you?

  • well said dude

  • Thanks! You too!

  • oh shut up moron like you know everything

  • Did you now that cattle are the main supply for insulin for diabetics? 26 cow pancreases can keep a full blown diabetic alive for a year. Do you know anything about cattle and the tons of things they are used for? You obviously don't, so blow it out your ass if you think you are doing the world a favor by not eating meat. You people are idiots and you have no idea how many cow by-products you use every day.

  • Wow, what an angry meat-eater. I still don't understand why you hate vegetarians so much.

Perhaps it's because you are getting frustrated in trying to come up with excuses as to why you help factory farms cruelly exploit and abuse animals, and we don't have to?

  • I will bet you a million dollars that you rely on factory farm animal parts for your everyday life dumbshit. DO you really think because you don't eat meat that you are not supporting the farming of animals? I don't hate anyone, I hate your hipocrisy. You are like a bible thumping Christian telling everyone they are going to hell unless they believe what you believe.

  • Actually, I never preach to people that THEY should not eat meat. I don't even tell people that I don't when I meet them. I only point out here in reply to (whatever it was, I forget now) the obvious fact that those who eat meat, help factory farms. I only brought up the fact that I'm a vegetarian to state that I do not give factory farms my money.

And yes, there are probably some ways that a bit of animal parts wind up in my purchases, but I do my best to avoid them. It's not easy.

  • @gypjet Don't do nothing, because you can't do everything, just do something. Not eating meat, or dairy, or eggs, is a huge difference. No one is perfect.

    Now go away.

  • So what? Do you know why those people have diabetes? BECAUSE THEY EAT FATTY FOODS FROM FACTORY FARM RAISED ANIMALS! I never said cow by-products weren't important, but there's no excuse for keeping animals in those conditions. We CERTAINLY do not need so many cows just for insulin and such. If every american family cut their meat consumption in half we'd be shutting down half the factory farms in America! Factory farms don't raise meat to help people, they raise it to feed fat asses like you!

  • Beautifully spoken. Way to go.

I especially like the way you point out that the reason there are so many diabetics in the U.S. is because there are so many meat-eaters!

  • Wrong, gypjet. Animal insulin was replaced in 1986 with synthetic insulin.

In the PAST, insulin was an animal-based therapy, which had many life-threatening side effects, such as muscle mass loss and injection site infections.

TODAY, synthetic humulin is generated by a process that replicates insulin without the use of non-animal cells.

People die using animal insulins, that's why Insulin hasn't been an animal-derived product for over 20 years.

  • You are doing great job, keep up! Love your farm

  • The clip of the baby chicks thrown down the chute is so sad and moving. This is one of the best informative documentaries I've seen on FF.

  • Good video. Casey is awesome too

  • Now I love Casey Affleck!

  • Well thats the thing, family farms have been put out of business by a mass industrial complex called factory farming. They treat workers badly, torture the animals, and pass on diseased meat to the public just to make money. They are the epitome of all that people hate about big business. If you care about family farms you should find one and buy from them, not the super market and the factory farming industry. They are bad for people, the environment, and animals.

  • Well i dont need to buy from one because i live on one

  • This is not concerning FAMILY farms, it's focused on FACTORY farms... there's a difference.

  • Yeah, the difference is factory farms supply virtually all of the available meat in grocery stores in developed nations while family farms provide infinitesmally less if at all available.

  • There's not many "family farms" left. Most have been sucked up by Big Agribusiness and turned into factory farms. Do some reading while you're eating your fellow animals.

  • Sorry don't need to do any reading i live on a family farm and there are plenty of them left. It may take some time to look for them if people want food from family farms go to a local meat locker. All of the animals their come from family farms this is a fact i know because that is who buys my cattle. So i think that i am a bit more knowledgeable on this topic than you.

  • Ok, glad to hear there are some family farms left. But I don't think I'll be going to any "meat locker" to buy parts of my fellow animals to eat, thank you.

And perhaps you should still do some reading, to improve your spelling and punctuation, if nothing else.

  • Im just saying that for anyone that wants to avoid factory farm foods go to a local meat locker they get their meat from family farms. If you want to avoid buying from factories don't buy your food from your local walmart or grocery store.

  • Ok, sounds like good advice, thanks.

  • "But I don't think I'll be going to any "meat locker" to buy parts of my fellow animals to eat,"

Are you supposed to be some sophisticated intellectual or something? You must be an idiot. When visiting friends, doctor offices, or ride in cars, do you refuse to sit onleather seats? I bet not. Was your home NOT built on land that was former animal habitat? Nope. Do you kill harmless plants for your eating pleasure? I bet so. Find another way to fil your voids.

  • gyp: no, lodlush is not an idiot; in fact quite the opposite. He/she sounds like a person who's thinking has gone beyond today's normal modes of thought and is already ahead in how we deal with our food sources. Some day I believe no fellow animals will be eaten; lodlush is already there.

Oh, and your other objections are ridiculous and have nothing to do with consuming meat.

  • Oh, so because someone chooses not to eat meat, that means that tehy are forward thinkers and of superior mind? IS that what you are saying?

  • I didn't say "superior mind", but yes, they are forward-thinkers.

  • This is a fine video. Thanks from the Basque country...

  • This is a great vid for kids (and adults) people need to know the truth! GO VEGAN!

  • End factory farming - Go Vegan!

  • Casey Affleck is great.

  • Good video. Thanks. :)

  • thanks, good video

  • I remember when I was little and my friend stayed over night, we saw a show on a cable access type channel.I felt like NO ONE except for a few people running that show, were speaking about it at all. I remember feeling helpless. In my lifetime thus far I have seen how HUGE a difference a few people can make.

  • very educational, glad you posted this

  • this is a wonderful video. it's so touching to be able to see rescued animals living out their lives in peace at sanctuaries like these. i also was very touched by the pictured childrens' reactions to the cruelty exposed in the meat industry. i can only hope that the human race will eventually evolve past our own greed and cruelty, and admit that other beings have value and deserve to be treated as such!!

  • GREAT!!!!

  • people thats doing this should think with their head and not acting this way with animals..

  • call me what ever but those animals go thru hell

give me a free range chicken

  • and for goodness' sake, next time, say abortion, not "sucking the brains out of babies." i had no idea in hell what you were talking about.

  • and by the way, i think it is great that you are concerned with a baby's right to exist. you sound like a compassionate person. imagine how far you can take that if you stop trying to negate other people's compassion. you might realize how much you have in common with some animal advocates. like their concern for the environment and people.

  • by the way, there is a link between people who routinely abuse animals or who have no problem abusing animals also treating other humans abusively. So I think as long as you are on the topic of abortion and the rights of a baby human being, you might consider the rights of all living things.

  • i actually think people can believe in and fight for more than one thing at once.

  • thirdly, XxxTulkasxxX, using your dislike of one animal rights group, PETA, (or your opinion that they like animals more than people) as reasons to discount the concerns that people have about how these animals are treated makes for a weak argument. Fourth, committing one atrocity (sucking the brains out of babies-?) does not negate another atrocity. You know, you CAN have more than one moral.

  • Your right my argument was weak. I used the atrocity of abortion to say that the proctection of animals is not important, but it is. I wish every pig had his own 100 acres to frolic with the butterflies and play with the chickens. You're right by saying people can have more than one moral. My point is, people are more important than animals. So if you're going to fight for a cause don't you think the important ones should come first?

  • but think about it by fighting the main prolbem then u can move on to another the main prolbem is that ppl dont see that abusing animals may lead to soon abusing humans so by protecting animals then there is a less % of humans being totured or so!

  • why would people be more important than animals? Just because we as humans think so??

  • Correction: you should say, "more important than OTHER animals", as we are also animals, a species of primate, but have been accustomed by society to not think of much.

  • thirdly, XxxTulkasxxX, using your dislike of one animal rights group, PETA, (or your opinion that they like animals more than people) as a reason to discount the concerns that people have about how these animals make for a weak argument. Fourth, committing one atrocity (sucking the brains out of babies-?) does not negate another atrocity. You know, you CAN have more than one moral.

  • the way animals are treated in these places is horrible.

  • (most) people from PETA make me sick. they care more about animals then people. doctors commit mass genocide by sucking the brains out of babies and nothing happens to them but all hell breaks out if a poor pig has to live in a pen. don't get me wrong i'm against animal abuse, I just think people need to get their priorities straight. the2ndflood, you're freakin crazy!

  • so, let me get this straight. you sum up what happens to pigs in factory farms as "a poor pig has to live in a pen?" first of all, that does not sum up factory farms--rather, it sugar coats what goes on inside. second of all, you then contradict yourself by saying you are against animal abuse.

  • Um, or just don't buy meat. Ever thought of that?

  • That will never happen. Meat is far too tasty to be ignored. Therefore, my solution of the consumer paying more for food is a more suitable solution.

  • you're very right

  • but easy as it is u would get more profits if u gave freedom to animals and it would only cost 3 cents more or so !

  • The consumer will always have more disposable income to pay for animal welfare than the producer will.

  • I wish that students were shown this.

  • thats how farm animals are treated, that is animal cruelty

  • Do you really wanna go the "meat is natural BS" ? Do you go into a field and tear your teeth into the hide of a cow, or do you buy your carcus wrapped in plastic and then cook + smother it in sauces ?

There is nothing "natural" about the way animals are made to suffer THEIR ENTIRE LIVES IN PAIN so you can put them on your plate. There are meat substitutes now that taste identical if that's what worries you, but theres no killing involved.

  • You ignorant dumbass, it's part of my biological drive to eat meat.Humans are biologically omnivores. Eating meat is as natural as animals eating other animals in the wildlife.

Have ever been to the FDA and researched their facilities to make sure that animals are treated right?

No, you haven't because obviously you're just pulling shit out of your ass.

  • dude stfu if it was natural we wouldnt have herbivorous teeth and it is not natural because genetically and biologically we have herbivore genes and we arent omnivores because how so if we have factories for animals to be killedd rather than we eat all the flesh of an animals right then and there that is ignorant for u to say u assanine!

  • they always have to bring up the "dont eat animals" argument

its not gonna happen, its nature

when you can get a shark, lion, eagle, and an alligator to start eating vegetables, then ill become vegitarian

  • Humans are pure garbage! They are So-Called Christians, who kill and torment animals and each other. They kills animals for every single stupid reason, like God created only them! I hope humans die out soon, because they have shed enough blood!

  • Poor ignorant person.

  • why i wonder what "vegetarism" is u assanine i think u got too much chemicals in your meat u assanine!

  • i like how you dont take the people against this, and casey into consideration

  • Great job Casey.. Well-done..

  • u fuckers have know idea how farms work. i dont mind peta people not eating animals the part that ticks me off is your bullshit about how mean farmers are. so fuck u bitch

  • stop being mean to animals and we'll stop talking about it...meanie :P

  • wow this is awesome, can you imagine the conflict this would case in schools? I'm so proud that this movie was sucessfully showed!

  • God thanks there are little places like paradise

  • I love this! Pigs are my favorite animals, well I love them all. I'm definately going vegan, oh I already did!

  • this was so moveing thank god for good old Irish farms! I hate the way people can do this!

  • I like how those animals are treated as a friend to kids and then it goes to my belly.

  • wow. This is so important. And despite the horror of the reality, it's shared in a way that's gentle enough for the whole family. I'm def sharing it around. help bring the change - hop on the wagon! Thanks for all you do, farm sanctuary.

  • Really great. This is exactly why I am vegan.

  • Before I go any further in the video I'm just gonna say this is an amazing video!

  • this is sooo good no matter how old you are!

  • This one's definately going in my faves. This is an awesome video! Thanks for posting!

Kids are so smart, they have such a strong connection with animals. It's sad that most lose this as they grow up.
