  • This just blows my mind...why would he tape this conversation? She has no idea, and probably never knew this WAS taped.

  • Never should have taped her. Never.

  • Very interesting!! where did you get that from??

  • very nice !! I like this movie .. its old but its so wonderfull movie for the kids

  • I wonder if he reversed the charges.

  • I was also wondering how many people actually tried to "call TOM GREENE" lmao

  • 2:40-2:44 two adorable pics!! Judy......was/STILL IS AMAZing. NO ONE will EVER surpass her, her talent, her beauty and her personality. I love everything about her. Great lady. True gift.

  • This guy is disgusting. why is he taping the phone call?

  • WHAT A JERK!

poor judy! she had such a life of struggle that was in no way her fault!

but it does make ehr seem more real, if you get what i'm saying. and it was nice to hear her voice :) it always is :)

  • exploitive,scumsucking leech>WAYNE THE PAIN

  • I assume Wayne was one of the men that Lorna talked about in her book "Me And My Shadows: A Family Memoir". She mentions numerous gay men that talked about how much they "loved" her. Fan men so to speak. This guy is a sicko to record this but it's interesting to listen to.

  • 4:11 what a wonderful picture!

  • When was this recorded?

  • This should be PRIVATE! Very very rude!

  • A trouble maker -- never liked the man - refused to speak with him.... I won't even mention his name in polite conversation.

  • I wonder if Judy ever found out about this bastard and his recordings? If she did,she must have been heart sick that she was taken in by this bum.

  • @sissillian1 I totally agree with your assessment of this bottom feeder. Judy was taken in because she really must have been impressed with Wayne's 'devotion". It's goodthat Judy tells him she didnt want to hear him complain because she had her own issues going on. I wish I lived back then & could've helped her with these guttersnipes. She really needed friends & hoped that she could have trusted them & by these calls, she really was unaware of these calls. Wayne should have been arrested

  • He's a scum bag. Stalking then!

  • He's a scum bag!

  • was this wayne martin person just a guy? a fan follower? seems a little strange doesn't it?

  • I knew Mr. Wayne Martin as a teenager and young adult in Los Angeles. I too was a huge Judy Garland fan and he was a kind friend to all of us. Perhaps he never grew up himself. If you loved Judy, he was the man to know! I still have photos of me as a teen where I'm actually wearing Judy's clothes! She had GIVEN him so many things! They were both true friends. I'm convinced he was harmless and sincerely cared for Judy. They were both in need of so much, both so alone & unhappy. Be kind, folks.

  • Wasting Judy's time with useless gossip - this guy seems stalker material..

  • I don't understand.

  • did she say TOM HANKS AT 2:49?????

  • It's really cool that a 'fan' can have a phone conversation with a star but sad that all it would be repetting bad mouth and belitteing.

  • "mr. wayne" is creeping me out.

  • Hell, if I'd ever had the chance to talk to Judy, I'd document it too! But, Jesus Christ! This shit is fucking creepy as hell. He sounds like a murderer. I hope someone tapped into his phone at one time. Damn.

  • he sounds like a stirring shit

  • You know it wasn't right, but there it is. For posterity.

Judy is the sweet soul that she was. What you saw on stage or even screen was the REAL Judy.

  • Terrible that a fan had access to Judy like this. He is a CREEP. Recording the phone conversation without her knowing is a low act.

  • Wayne Martin was really a big douche-bag.

  • His delivery reminds me of the pouty Bryant Gumbel.... You hear it, too?

  • Fans back in those days had more access to celebrities for some reason. Garland was too trusting of people like her manager who swindled so much from her or her mother. Too bad! I don't know about this guy. Kind of creepy, his involvement with Judy if ya ask me.

  • Thank you for sharing this...so sad to listen to this...disgusting how people took advantage of Judy. I just realized I was contacted by Nancy Barr years ago...she sells celebrity photos that she has taken...right? Luckily, I never bought anything from her. I also always thought Wayne was a good guy, but I guess I was wrong. I wrote to him years ago, and got a letter back from him, I still have it somewhere...guess I should find it and destroy it. :)

  • seems like she knows he is playing games, but also knows he has alot of stuff that she could use.

  • I'm afraid to listen to this.. God Judy did not deserve having theese piece's of shits around her. my heart bleeds everytime I think of all the misery she went through

  • This man is disgusting. [2]

  • This man is disgusting. And I can't believe she stayed on with him for so long; he's insipid, noncommittal and weak. He didn't know if he should say anything when he heard others bad-mouthing her? He really threw his loyalty in question with that stupid remark, and you can practically HEAR Miss Judy take it in when he said it.... Whatta woos....

  • how does a douch bag like wayne even become friends with JUDY! lol

  • @mmdillons Thank you for this post. He sounds like a real user.

  • First, he upsets Miss Judy by saying that this Nancy character has been saying things about her, and he even states that it upset her (JG's) fans; but when she asks him what kind of things were said, he responded, "Oh, nothing.... just gossipy kinds of things.... She should have hung up on him, then and there. But she was too polite and sweet to people who treated her (or SEEMED to treat her) decently.

  • It says in a book about her that someone had tapped the calls she made from her house too :@

this wayne martins a cunt :|

  • wow i thought the way phone operaters talked in the 60's were all british. Also when Lorna awnsers the phone i never expected it to be all um yah hold on

  • Why does he call to complain about his life? At least she cut him off before he could get too started on it. But then he gets into it again, with this 'Nancy' stuff, and telling Ms. Garland how Nancy was treating fans badly & upset them and was saying bad things about Ms. Garland. Was this an attempt to divide Ms. Garland and this Nancy person -- spreading poison for some reason?

  • What the hell!!! sounds like she's talking to an old friend. omg. But he sounds scary omg he's gossiping about somebody a tell her about what this woman sed about her wtf

  • oh my gosh, is that Liza who answers the phone??

  • no, it was Lorna who answers the phone! :)

  • This is soooooooo creepy. Who the fuck records a phone call?? Too bad the audio is kind of hard to hear. It's kind of cool (in an odd way) hearing Judy Garland as her uncensored, normal self. Sends shivers down my spine. I almost feel dirty favoriting it... Oh well.

  • Oh my God I've just realised it's 40 years today since Judy died!!! RIP, Judy...

  • What a scumbag Wayne Martin was - I wish he was still alive so I could write and tell him what I think of him. Judy trusted him and he taped the call...how low can a person get.

  • thats true, Judy obviously considered him a friend. lets hunt down his relatives lol.

  • This is where Nancy is, now:

    Nancy Barr-Brandon

    871 Lakewood Farmingdale Rd

    Howell, NJ 07731

    (732) 730-3924

  • nancy barr is a lieing sack of shit ! and every judy fan should do their reasearch and give this lady a piece of their mind...for judy!

  • Ew! This Wayne sounds creepy. Calling her "my dear" with his freaky voice. This guy's a freako

  • It seems like he's baiting her. The poor woman. Happy belated birthday, Judy. We love you, sweetheart.

  • Can someone tell me what this is all about? I'm not so sure why this is so creepy or whatever.

  • This is boring and it's hard to understand what they are saying. This guy is an ingratiating slug. Judy Garland, for all her troubles, was so kind and gentle and incredibly talented. Poor thing. It's bad when you can't even answer your phone without being exploited.

  • a book of Judy with Wayne Martin's name all of it. hey, he's got pictures stored up in his shack. hey he just talked to Nancy Barr. he hasn't made any judgment calls on her yet. hey, she's sayin nasty things to the fans. hey Judy, you need me.

  • I know that both Liza &Lorna have said that Judy did not want her life to be remembered as tragic, but that is the best word that comes to mind when i think of Judy. I have been reading one of the bios on her &I have been near tears several times with the way she was treated as well as the way she treated others. All she really wanted was someone to love her for who she is, not what she is, and she wanted this so desperately that it ended up being her downfall. &listening to this & makes me sad.

  • Ive read one of her bios also and i feel the same. Although Liza has said many times that her mother was a wonderfully happy woman and had a great life, I can't help getting a lump in my throat when i think of the way she was mistreated by so many: her mother, Mr Mayer, Sid Luft, etc....She deserved so much better and I just somebody had given that to her before...

  • judy may have had some tragic things happen 2 her in her life, but i am sure she had many amazing things too! and i am sure the good outwieghed the bad! she was a MOVIE STAR! who hasn't had tragic things happen to them in life? it's like judy said "anything to make a good story" of course they are gonna tell you the bad, because the good usually doesn't make a good story!you can't believ everything that is written or said! i would believe what is comming from her family! they really knew her! :)

  • I'm not sure if this was directed at my comment or the comment after mine, but i will respond anyways.... the reason that i think that Judy's life can be regarded as tragic is because she lost so many possible incredible years with her inabiltiy to cope with her illness and those around her unwilingness to let her heal... i know people tried but still just not enough! And I read Lorna's bio, there are some incredibly tragic stories in there.. and those are first hand stories from Judy' daughter!

  • she doesn't sound like herself. it was all the drugs and depression that killed her.

  • What. a. filthy. pig.

Wayne Martin must be burning in hell, to fool this vulnerable, flawed-but-genius woman. Let's face it: Judy couldn't help her gullible quality because of her lifelong, well-documented addictions at that point...but this skunk scraped the bottom. Listen to Judy--even at her lowest, she has more dignity in her most meager thought than this scum in his entire life.

Sick. Tawdry. Proof that have always people sucked, generally.

  • I have to agree..this is not the type of phone conversation

that I would want to hear and this is not the way that I want

    to remember Miss.Garland..Damn You Mr.Martin!

  • I'm pleased that Wayne Martin didn't show up during an internet search. Taking advantage of Judy didn't make him famous. What a jerk to take advantage of someone's problems to further your own career.

  • Where is this guy today? Seems like a regular snake in the grass, and snakes don't change!

  • I love Judy Garland to pieces, but I hope I never get nutty like that guy. I do wish I could talk to her though. Heheheh.

  • this sounds like a really mundane ok boring conversation, what's this all about. so he taped her. he was a fan.

  • I haven't listened to any of these parts of the conversation- I wanted to see what the comments said, and I've decided that I won't listen to them. If this guy was a good person or a "friend" then he wouldn't have taped this conversation. I would personally never speak to my friends again if they did that. And that Nancy Barr character was as blood sucking as the rest. Judy Garland made a lot of money but everyone around her bled her dry. She was a lovely person surrounded by creeps.

  • What movie is the pic at 2:21 from?

  • QUESTION:

Was the "controversy" in 1967 that Judy Garland was replaced by Susan Hayward for the movie, Valley of the Dolls?

Is that what Judy was feeling down about at the time of this call? (other than the obvious fan drama).

Even going through so much, she was really good counsel, so intelligent. <3

  • You can never really trust anyone! What a horrible thing to do to such a beautiful person. I love Judy Garland and I can relate to her. What a shame that the media drove her to her death. I won't say what I believe because it's rude and I have respect for her!

  • Poor Judy. This brings comfort that I can hear her out of character and herself.

  • At the beginning, when they're talking about her daughter, is that Lorna on the phone?

  • I agree. I think it's very disrespectful to all Judy fans, but most importantly to her family.

  • aww.. i really love Judy, and this is so sad. may she rest in peace, away from all the drama

  • i think judy sounds normal

  • At this time in Judy's life there were several professed number one fans who got close and show her affection, because it was what she needed and then robbed her blind and left her with nothing. I can't stand to think of what she went through in her later years. Lonely and broke, just looking for someone who REALLY cared to take care of her becausse it was the right thing to do. This creep just took advantage of her telling her people talked about her so she would trust him and he betrayed her.

  • He is mentioned in several books about Judy, pictures of him too. I can hear that it's Lorna that answeres the phone. He was sneaky to record this.. but I love hearing the process of the call. The operator saying her name etc.. makes hear real to me.. and not just the LEGEND> bigger than life and un-touchable.

  • Whatever this Nancy said is long forgotten. This guy's garbage is still alive forty years later.

  • This phone call and video is jus scary...

I can`t belive, I am hearing a private phone of my idol, Judy Garland... I dont cant belive it! This Martin guys seems like a creep and they sound a bit like lovers...

  • I know that she did have friendships with many of her fans esp. late in her life.

  • Asswhole!

  • i wonder if you were able to have judy garlands phone# if maybe you might do the same thing? i also wonder if anyone would believe you. i cant believe the biggest star in the world was so desperate for food and money! thats what is so terrible! just my opinion.

  • It's quite obvious that Mr. Wayne Martin was a little "money hungry" .

People like him don't have any purpose in life.

  • the nerve of some people!!!!! this such an invasion of privacy. poor judy, i really get now why she had to question a lot of her friends. but the one thing i'm asking myself is that if one person did this did others do it as well? who ever recorded this is scum

  • she doesn't come off bad. it's the nutcase guy who seems like a failed abortion. why would you tell someone you love that someone is saying horrid things? who is this clown? i digerss.

  • Please take this down. It's a serious invasion of Judy Garland's privacy (and her family's). I know you might think it's showing what a rotten person Wayne was for taping her, and he was, but you have the whole call up for anyone to listen to on here. It isn't right for you to do. She's been exploited enough already.

  • its kind of odd listening to these calls its like we shouldnt be listening to them wasnt she so sweet though bless her heart

  • This is a serious invasion of privacy. Is nothing about this woman sacred anymore?

  • Even though this is really personal, it is kind of nice to have a little insight into Judy's world.

  • isn't this a bit personal

but i'm still a judy fan

  • He should never have told Judy that someone had spoken bad about her..... What was the use???? twisted guy hanging on to a star. Judy was too nice. Also too lonely.

  • Such an invation of privacy ! I'd hate it if someone was recording my phone conversations..........

  • mmmmm what was the purpose of the LONG DISTANCE phone call just to let Judy know about Nancy (thingy jiggs) about slagging her off after all as Judy said she lived with Liza and Peter so wouldn't Liza have said something to HER MOTHER.

  • Why wou;ld u even put on youtube that is so creepy and i am a fan too.

  • TOO weird. TOO personal. Big fan of Judy, but sounds like this guy did it for personal gain. Call himself a fan?

  • It's hard to tell if this guy is a well-intentioned fan club president trying to help Judy or a leech trying to grab 15 minutes of fame.

  • It is amazing for me lo listen to judy garland, may she rest in peace forever, great artsit, great woman and human being

  • Lorna would be pissed with this guy.. yeah, they all probally know already though.

    MMmm..

  • i don't think i want to hear this...im a huge Judy fan but this is alittle werid.....

  • Yes this is real. Wayne Martin was a fan and so called friend who was obcessed with collection Garland memrobilia. These phone calls were simply adding to his collection at the time. Judy had no idea about these calls and she was in a position to grab onto anyone that showed her friendship at this time of her life.

Garland fans have the same veiw about these recordings as they do about her personal recordings. They should be kept private.

  • Is this real?? Who is Wayne Martin?? Defundthewar are you out there - surely youwill know about this?!?

  • Wayne was Judy's self-professed number one fan, who had a shrine of memorabilia, much of which judy herself had given him. I heard rumors that at times he would even organize other fans to help her out a bit financially...
