  • I just seen you live in london at the KOKO club and you were awesome I actually discovered you through this interview with JB your awesome dude!!

  • Sweet as bro(s)!

  • Damien Rice just-a-jammin' in the background :))

  • ahh, two of my favorite people =] so down to earth, love these guys

  • damien rice! in the background

    nice interview

  • Hehem hes fuckin high!

  • Where are all the men like these guys?

  • Very cool, two very conscious people. Both are awesome musicians with a lot of love!

  • it aint cannonbal in the backrougnd...

  • You can't compare two completely different bands like GGD and JBT. Both have influenced their fair share of people with original songs and different styles. Iris is huge, but I also love Funky Tonight. You guys can't argue worth shit on this damn site.

My two cents: I love JBT but who the fuck names their kid Banjo?

  • googoodoll1...your boys wore makeup...fingernails, makeup? what's the difference and why do you have so much time to be berating Franti, Butler and their fans? apparently you are not workingo on your PhD in politics either? and since when is popularity a reason that someone should be silent on his/her views. freedom of speech is not only for nimrods like yourself...

  • To judge is to be very ignorant. It holds one back in anger and fear.

Butler has long finger nails for guitar plaing without a pick. Franti is beyond a phd. He doesnt need to be taught, The guy has good genes!

  • Parihaka 2010,

    Bring it!

  • I think music is the most powerful and influential form of bringing about change and peace. Sure, John Butler and Michael Franti aren't politicians and don't have PHD's, but people can relate to them. An amazing song paired with a great message -- that turns heads AND ignites change. It is entirely appropriate and wonderful for musicians to be activists and spokespersons. Peace and love :-)

  • damien rice : cannonball in the background

    JOHN BUTLER ROCKS!

  • Love these guys :] went to their concert in New Mexico... one word amazing. keep on rockin.

  • Hehe, can you hear Damien Rice playing one of his new songa in the background :P

  • Dennis Kucinich for Peace President! Dennis4President dot com

    See the Franti- Kucinich interview!

  • They are not using their fame as a forum to express opinions they rose to fame as a consequence of their thoughts and opinions and musical talent , a lot of pplz have equal talent and nothing to say.

  • fuck up all you cunts who think you're better than other people, who cares what someones name is? we're all iindividuals...

  • when someone uses their fame as a forum to express opinions that reach and influence the masses of people who are just stupid enough to listen to them and not educated enough to make choices for themselves. many people are plastic and eaisly formed to fit the opinions of someone else just because they're hip at the moment. When JB shows the credentials and has published a few best selling books on political thought, he might be worth listining to but until then, he's just a musician.

  • 1. It happens. And it will continue to happen with both positive and negative consequences. Complaining and crying about it will not change it.

    2. Listening to PHD's in political thoughts without being educated or plastic is no different than listening to musicians in the same way.

Which brings us to the same point which is that people should think for themselves, should be discriminating with the type of beliefs and ideas that they subscribe to regardless of the source

  • People should do a lot of things for themselves and not be influenced by the ideas of others who use the stage for a soapbox to express their own personal views but...like the saying, "a sucker is born every minute"

  • HE is not soapboxing any information i wnet to see roger waters and even he brang up the war and how it needs to stop. you need to be more open to listen to others man.you dont know everything.

  • GGD, don't be a prick. John Rzeznik is nowhere near the musician John Butler is and I've been a goo goo fan since their 'first' name. John Butler helps out so many people through his music it's unbelievable. He isn't selfish at all with his money and supports small musicians and global charities.

  • He's been all over the middle east and talked to people from all walks of life. The same people who tell musicians they're not qualified to have an opinion tell PHDs they're overqualified to have an opinion. If music isn't a form of expression of opinion, what IS? The idea that musicians shouldn't express political opinion through their music is BS. Nobody has a gun to your head, telling you what to listen to. You clicked the link.

  • Googoodoll1 you are a prick, i think someones jealous of how famous he is and how amazing he is at what he does, so what if he calls his daughter banjo he can do what he wants he is john butler.

  • Banjo Butler, has a nice ring to it don't you think?

  • If you subscribe to someone, then unsubscribe, subscribe again (their count won't increase), unsubscribe again (their count WILL decrease), you can make that person's subscriber count go down. You can repeat indefinitely until 0....use wisely, hehe

  • John Butler is a good dude, gives back alot of what he receives, and if you don't know why his nails are long you shouldn't be watching this as you clearly have no clue.

Great artist and to me it looked like an interview with a very humbled human being, appreciative of the fact he's living his dream. Need more like him.

  • DOT lost DOT eu SLASH 55d41

    YOU ARE INVITED... GET LOST!

  • a little scary how much he rubs that kids head

  • congratulation on being pick of the day.

  • JB, you must not be a workin man, you finger nails are too long. Also, you didn't really say anything did you, ramble talker. you named your little girl Banjo? didn't think that one through too either did you.

  • Maybe... but at trhe end of the day hes a great dude and guitarist and gives most of his dosh away to charity something only a handful of people would do.

  • those nails are FOR playing his various instruments, i think specifically the 12 string (for songs like ocean). without them he couldnt do his job, which is a musician.

  • you need to get a life and relize that people around the world right now. especially americans like you dont relize all of the true issues that need to be seen and just because he wants others to remeber that and be inspired doent make him a spokesman it makes him a person who likes to relate to others and banjo is an awsome name i want a girl name madolin

  • when was the last time ANYONE had an original thought?

  • the big bang...everything since then has been a development that came out of that first thought that made existence manifest

  • whats up with your nails dude

  • finger-picking

  • very cool...

    support thegigantic.blogspot dot com

  • So awesome!

  • aaaah damien rice thats who it was i couldnt pick it!

this is epic. my favourite musician interviewing my other favourite musician.

focus on the positive and it will grow! beautiful.

  • And the Damien Rice in the background set for good background music.

  • two of the most amazing men hanging together what more could be better!?

  • Freakin' love Micheal!
