5 to 8 years? I think this is not the average age those birds can reach.
My parakeet is almost 15 years now and stil VERY vital, curious and playful.
Besides that I know many people whose birds get really old.

Most Parakeets end up getting tumour (cancer). Yours is very lucky meaning than you ared for it properly. Most people just give it seeds, that is why
