I was in Iraq 2004 - 2005 as an Army Combat medic. I thought that we were redirecting terrorist rage towards ourselves and getting it away from our homeland. I think that is part of it. But, is that what our Constitution upholds? Policing the world? I think we've won over there. But does that make it right to go and make war on a people who did not attack us? Are we constitutionally permitted to go after every crazy dictator? If not, what are we doing there?

Thanks for this video. I am in the Army myself and have gone to Iraq twice and will go again soon and we are doing a good job over there with what we do. The problem is that we see no end in sight despite all that we do and there really isn't much else we can do there anymore. I feel like we are trapped. Every time I hear people in D.C. talk about a pullout, I just dismiss it as political rhetoric that never gets accomplished. Of course we will continue to stand strong and serve with honor.

Though the mother of sons serving in the military;I never supported the war in Iraq and this long before Bush sent our troops into that country. While saying we supports the troops but not the war sounds good on the surface, we should understand that many of the soldiers in Iraq are involved in crimes against the citizens of Iraq. I do not support these people at all, murder is still murder, whether you have a uniform on or not.

Virtually every soldier in Iraq has committed crimes against innocent civilians to one extent or another. That is not something we should support.

Well, if it is an obligation, then that means we should have a CONSIGN army and not a professional army. It is only the duty of American citizens to defend the 50 states. Iraq is not a US state, and the Iraqi military not only never planned to, but also could never logistically launch an invasion on the soil of any of the 50 US states.

It does not matter were you reside. What matters is your citizenship! If you are an American outside of the United States, you can still vote, have you ever heard of an absentee ballot. If you are outside of the United States, you still must file a tax report to the IRS and you still must be registered with the selective service if you are an adult male US citizen, no matter where you live. Its your citizenship that counts!

No, of course not. Iraq is not a US state, your only obligation is to defend the 50 US states. Outside of those fifty states, you don't need to worry. Quite frankly, we might have been able to get a better deal on oil prices if we just let Iraq take Kuwait in the first war.  Hell, we could have even made a bit of a profit selling tanks to Iraq if we wanted to. It is easier to control one puppet dictator or monarch than 1000 despots.
