Not too well, maybe better than nothing. We used tomato juice the first time our dog got sprayed, then went out and got the stuff that does work at the pet store so we were ready for the next time. It's called, "Skunk-Off" made by Thornell Corp, Penfield, NY. It worked!
ALERT! Armed and dangerous! I can't believe you had the guts to get *anywhere* near that troop! Fresh skunk is the most oderiffic, permeating smell in the universe - gah!
Hi, it's me, Elmer. I got sprayed by one of them critters once. I took myself a tomato juice bath...and while I was at it, I added some vodka, lemon juice and a dash of Worcestershire Sauce and then drowned myself in a Bloody Mary....*hiccup*
Yep, it's interesting how quickly the cats knew and respected their place in the new pecking order once the skunks were on the scene. Cats are so smart! Note: I didn't say the cats liked it.
aww so cute they are. I'm not a big fan of cat but I like them way better than skunks baby skunks or not. lol Yeah babies don't have the umph the parents do, but they will soon enough. Poor kitties are hungry!
You are certainly braver than I am! Growing up it was my responsibility the bath the dog whenever she was sprayed by a visitor. Be careful. It would be terrible to get in the line of fire!!
When I first moved to Bend 9 years ago, the woods behind my house was full of starving cats (neanderthal Oregonians dumped inconvenient cats there...? Humane Society and local vets collected and fixed them, adopted out their babies--thank God!). I put food out for the cats, but 3 skunks would come through each night, separately, checking for the food. MEAN, SCARY, huge long nails...the cats never went within sight of the skunks! I never saw anything like your cats just sitting there! WOW!
Oy beejeebers, Edith! Skunks dining on the patio with the cats? I've had racoons and possums, but thankfully skunks have kept their distance. Sure, they're cute, but one pfffffffffttttttt and you'll be smelling it for a month. I know. I got too close ONCE. JUST once. Loooooong ago. That's all it takes. LOL
very brave woman, you are. I LOVE the cats. They seemed to be unphased also. Loved the video title and uh...much more tasteful than a '2 girls-1 cup reaction' vid. Susan
My husband, son and I passed by a dead skunk once on the highway that smelled so bad that none of us even mentioned until about 48 hours later. It was too horrifying to talk about. YUCK. They are cute, tho.
man we have a ton of those too here..they get hit by cars all the time and I wanna yak everytime I smell them lol. I remember a friend of mine as a kid having one as a pet..she took it to the vet to have it descented. Wierd...
wow, that's amazing! i've never had the guts to get that close to a skunk before.. my goodness, woman! you are unshakable! you stayed even AFTER they sprayed?!? lol cool video, thanks for posting :)
Believe it or not, we're only about 3 miles from the heart of Downtown Los Angeles in Silver Lake. We also have opossums and raccoons and even an occasional coyote!
Thank you, dear. They've passed away now, I took this video a few years ago. Since then our little dog, Maltz, has joined our pack and the wild critters give a wider berth. It's funny how even the raccoons would tolerated and be tolerated by the cats. The dog's another story.
lets get to the point about the skunk

Actually, it's worse.

It reminded me of when I was in the Poconos as a little boy, we were driving buy a movie theatre and saw a skunk walk in to give its review.
I always imagine a screaming mob running out of the theatre. ;-{)

They smell like 1,000 times worse than a lost easter egg in August. So bad that some folks vomit from just a whiff.
DameEdithDivine 4 years ago
haha you wouldnt want to eat one!

I had no idea there was that much wildlife in CA! I used to live near Temescal Canyon and only ever heard about it.. like an urban myth. ;)
