  • I posted this video 4 years ago, wow. Both didgeridoos are pitched bewteen C and B. Ryka and Jeremy are doing high (falsetto) vocals to emulate birds and dingo howls, but also mid-range and low vocals which create a variety of otherworldy sounds.

By the way, I'm having my biggest didgeridoo sale of the year right now at LAOutback . com so start making your on didgeridoo riddims!

  • what key are both of your didgeridoos playing? i like the sound effect that rika ali is playing after 3:00, wut is it called?

  • Really amazing. It's almost a drug listening to this!

  • The jawharp: A portable Didgeridoo?

  • pot-smoking music

  • How is the 'frog' vocalization/sound done just after 3:00 ? Doing 'ribbit' stops the air flow...or I am not doing this right...yet.

  • @UpcomingJedi You're literally just creating the ribbit sound with your voice, same as any other that you might want to produce on the instrument. Kind of light making a high pitch squeal and then applying it to the didge.

  • thats really hot.. i dont know if i would want to have sex listening too it but i would put it up there with sitting on back porch sipping on gin and juice

  • dam if i was sleeping i would think its some wild ass alien creature

  • That's easy when you eat the whole jungle...

  • one word AMAZING

  • WOW! Love that sound of the duet...

  • awesome!!!!

    9.9 outa 10

i took a bit off coz the white guy was sniffin in a bit loud.

    haha

    totally loved it !

  • I want one!

  • wow!

  • wow!

  • I have spent the last hour looking up circular breathing and kept coming up with stuff about a didgeridoo - whatever that is!

Someone, please - enlighten me - what in the world is a didgeridoo?!

    D:

  • @hugtrees1331 Hey there. A lot of people have the same question. They may know the sound of a didgeridoo, but have no idea what the instrument is that creates what they've heard.

Didgeridoos are instruments from the indigenous people of Australia, crafted from termite hollowed eucalyptus saplings. They're played by vibrating your lips and expelling air through the mouthpiece end, and you can create any combination of sounds limited only by your imagination.

  • @hugtrees1331 There aren't any holes on the sides, and the instrument only comes in one key. It's basically just a big tube, with a smaller hole at the mouth end so you can cover it with your lips. The length of the didgeridoo determines what key it is in, and you can actually make one of these out of one simple piece of PVC pipe and some beeswax for the mouthpiece.

  • It's nice to hear a Didgeridoo played the way it's supposed to

  • GOD!!

Teach how to play like this!!

  • sweet

  • i love it!!!! Makes my sub dumb too :)

  • fab!!

  • This is amazing! Thanks for posting it!

  • that noise at 6:07 is very insecty. love it. can't wait to learn more animal noises on the didge!

  • If this went for one hour I could meditate to this.

    great stuff.

  • niiiiiiiiice !

  • this is in my sleep/relax playlist and I've probably heard it a few hundred times and still love it.

  • It's so natural... just like meditation.

  • didgeriduet. I like it chunk

  • just amazing ;)

  • fuckin sick. love this right here

  • ha ha totally sweet, guyes!! :) I play didger too, but im still learning. just got circular breathing down. u guyes ROCK hard core! :)

  • This is how I like to hear the digeridoo played! In contrast to the quick and repetitive fart sounds many vids of didg players...

  • Man that sounds creepy!!! Love it!! You guys are great!

  • Incredible job guys!!

    I have a question though:

Are there 2 Jeremy Donovan's? I thought he was aborigine, but looks pretty white in this video, lol. Other videos, he is painted and looks very much dark skinned. Not that it matters much to me, just curious. Again, incredible work to the both of you, keep it goin!!

  • @Didgalotus Nope, just the one Jeremy Donovan in the didj community.

  • 3:00 and on is truly amazing

  • it sounds like stuff insinuating itself into existence. awesome xD

  • its a didgeriduet

  • These guys know what they're doing.... absolutely fantastic.

The best 7 minutes i've spent on youtube...

  • wish i had the scratch for a prime didge like one of those

  • BEASTS

  • yeah how do they make the EEEEEEEEE?

  • MAESTROS

  • Neato! How DO they make the EEEEEE sounds?

  • anyone know how to make the"EEEEEE" sound??

  • shape of cheeks and tounge when the lips vibrate.

  • If you are talking about the eeee sound I am thinking, it is your vocal chords, not your cheek and tongue shape that create the sound. You can "sing" as you are playing. Short quick yells produce a bark, long vibrations can create melody. If you find it awkward, you can start by almost just humming while you are playing, and then focus on raising and lowering the pitch. The other eeee sound you might be talking about is produced by rolling your tongue while making a tone with your voice.

  • @unapparatus so to be good at the didgey one must have a very coordinated mouth?

  • looking to make one myself...any pointers ??

  • today i just choped eykalyptus!!!it's 3 meters long!!!i'll start making it from next week!!!i'l upload a vid or something!!! you guys are great congratulations!!! 5*

  • 5/5

    So inspiring and creative.

    I need a wooden didj.

mine is pvc. Tone is still excellent

  • Yup, they are both between C and B in pitch.

  • what key are these two didges? C?

  • this is so dope.

  • best ever seen...

  • I shot this duet with the camera on a tripod, then had them play extra so I could edit in close-ups and new angles (which is why their shoes appear and disappear). So in final video cut you are watching both live, and before, and after the audio take. Soundwise I only added some reverb on the original audio. Oh, and about the acoustics, we live in a canyon and it's very quiet and well insulated by trees up here. Luckily no planes from Burbank airport flew over during the shoot!

  • hey what are the names of all the animal calls that they make in this duet. and how do they do them! post a video on how they make those sounds! (advanced sounds that arent just dingo and kukubaras.)

  • @outbackbazza You guys just have too much fun. By the way I love the Kristan Benton Yidaki I bought from you that time I paid a visit. I still have not been able to get the video that Fosters Beer made with. If you have a copy is there anyway I could get a copy from you. Just wished I could have stayed a little longet to catch Lewis Bv's visit.

  • best didge video i have ever seen.

    5*

  • this definitely had my house shaking. great vid!

  • All this kind of noises.... very awesome.

Dude... I need to practice more...OO

  • YES YOU DO PRACTICE MORE

  • Firkin' awesome. Makes the hairs on my arms stand up every time I hear this!!

  • me too

  • wonderfull. i love didgeridoo. greats singers-

    From Spain. Malaga

  • the best i have ever seen!

  • Thats perfect.

  • Truly inspiring to this appdidgerentice=) thanks!

  • this made parts of my drumset shake. never happend befor at a youtube-clip;)

  • inspirador!!!! ahora me comprare mi didgeridoo de una vez por todas! :)

  • Amazing duet. Wow... the sounds are so natural.

    Thanks.

  • Wow. I got a didgeridoo, but it was a cheap one and sounds like a donkey with a sore throat compared to this! Magic

  • a digeriduet.

  • This vid has been an inspiration as in expanding my vocal sounds and making them more resonate and articulate. Thank you for sharing it!

  • You two can not only give Ash Dargan a good run, I seriously think you need to get to a studio and get some long meditations and fast dances together for a cd...for SURE I'd buy one!

  • ditto.

  • STILL my fav. wish i could rate more than 5*

Keep it up. show us more!

    your music OWNS!!

  • You two could give Ash Dargan a good run! WONDERFUL!

  • WOW! That is so cool. It's in my favorites. Thank You.

  • Absolutely, freakin awsome!!!! I loved it. No words an really exress it. Just listen to it.

  • One the of the best duets I've heard...definitely gives a true sense of what the didge is all about.

  • they sound sooooo good i rekon bagpipes and the didg would be so good

  • wery nice played, seems both of them understands that its all about telling a story, long time ive heard a didge tell this much:)

  • i love the way you guys play, the long drones and the occasional animal sound, its like your out in the wilderness Listening to the nature. im fairly new to the didgeridoo playing thing, but practising everyday( working lots on getting the circular breathing down!) peace!

  • fair play boys that was truely awesome i am still getin the hang of the circlar breathing thing atm 5*

  • What tune does you/the didgeridoo's have?

looking for a didgeridoo with the same, as those you play on.

Nice one. One of the best, seen yet.

  • Very Very Cool

    Great Job!! I gave you a 5

  • 500

  • how exactly do you play one of these?

  • you buzz your lips like youre playing a tuba, then make various other sounds with your tongue, lips, and voice. Also, to continue playing, you do something called "circular breathing" where you exhale through the mouth and inhale through the nose... at the same time.

  • I like this type of playing, much slower long sweeping drones and the occasional animal noise. It makes me feel like I am in nature hearing the wilderness speak. I'm not super fond of the fast paced techno sounding crap with the new aged sounds behind them.

  • @gothicjinnlax17

    Absolutely right

  • those things are hardcore, i love the sound they make. i've been playing for a day now, and i can't wait till i get anywhere near these two.

  • That sound fantastic

  • those sounds really make you feel like you are in a jungle rounded by the vegetation and the hidden animals around you ...watching you . kinda spooky ..

  • what is the particular type of breathing called required for playing a didgeridoo?

  • respiracion "circular" en español I dont know in english "circle" breathing

  • circulation breathing

  • well thats where the sounds that predator makes come from :P. pretty awesome stuff

  • That's awesome! Great talent! Keep it up guys!

  • the sound is amazing!

  • I think if I listened to this before I went to sleep, I'd have prophetic dreams.

This is just amazing. A very haunting sound that grabs the imagination.

I find the didg so spiritual, so uplifting.

Thank you so much for this experience!

  • thats the best didge playin ive seen in a wile.......good stuff lads........

  • Thanks to Dustin for showing me this video!!

  • amazing...

  • Astounding work!!!

    very inspiring.

i hope to be as good one day.

  • Nice...but to voltakid's comment, authentic sounds take many forms, fast fluttering rythms to deep slow drones, the mood of the player has a lot to do with it...

  • yahoo it makes a man feel alive!!!!

    (or woman,of course)

very natural!!! i love it to

  • Oh man this is awesome! I've only seen a few vids of Jeremey and I can already see how good he is....love it!

  • Jeremey is the polar oppposite of the Europeon machine gun didge players.

  • and 10 times better too! his style is so much more authentic, so much more spiritual and natural. the best.

  • Man thats scary... but in a good way !

    *****

  • im blown away by these two. a real fan of donovan, the few videos ive seen.

im just starting out playing the didgeridoo actually.

i need to know how these wild sounds are made. they sound like animals, i love it, it terrifies me.

anyone have anything to recomend? sites, tips, etc?

  • those overtones being hit sound so haunting its amazing

  • I bought a didge called "Solar Storm" from LAoutback about two months ago. It sounds AMAZING! There will hopefully be videos of my playing up soon :)

  • Got so funky at 3:00, awesome

  • it feels like summer when i hear this music.

  • the guy on the right is playing a tree trunk xD that didge is huuuuuuuge, in a fat way xP, but it sounds really really good, and that diameter helps give it that really nice bassy-ness, i have a short didge in the key of C# and it is second in my favorite instruments only to my djembe

  • Sweet.

  • Some of the sweetest playing I have heard in a long time. I think to many of us forget the haunting sounds that drew us in the first place and constantly race off trying to be the fastest and baddest player on the planet!! A lesson in vocals here. Beautiful. Can I ask, are the didj's tuned to C?

  • You reminded me something important. Thanks. :)

  • The best i have seen.

  • Beautiful instrument. Own 1 just bought another one cant wait till it comes in. Only wish I could play at their level

  • This IS Earth Music!! Power incarnate!

  • Amazing didgeridoo duet, a real headache curer. The website is really good

  • Awesome.

  • Beautiful sound! Are these eucalyptus didgeridoos?

    Ceki =========) ~.oOO

  • Top Quality Sound, Amazing website.

  • My Son Plays the Diderido....Really Awesome!!!

  • VERY good for there first time playing together. I loved it

  • What fun, great video! I guess a Didge player can always find a kindred soul in another Didge player.

  • Great Video.

  • Barry from L.A.Outback Didgeridoos here... on a technical note I did put a slight amount of reverb on the original audio. Having said that, the audio is completely unedited or looped in any way. These two fellas had never played together before. Not even a quick rehearsal.
