Jerks that come and say nasty things about these garage rockers or young musicians who are trying to keep blues alive piss me off ; why don't you go listen to your fake, auto tuned crap?
@Johnnytwain1 and you know what? no one wanted your sorry ass here anyway. good riddance douche bag. the music scene is awesome here. what kind of scene is in tallahassee Fla? nothing. fuck off Detroit rocks.
I'll have to try and get a hold of this doco when it comes out. I've only started listening to some underground bands I wouldn't of even heard of if not through documentaries like 'It Might Get Loud', so far i've managed to get some songs by Soledad Brothers, Link Wray and Flat Duo Jets... Oh and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (which I must say are all great bands/artists!). I'll have to check this out for some good Detroit garage rock bands.

Did we resent the Ramones when they got some success? I saw them in 75 at CBGB's and loved them. When they got bigger, I still loved them. They were simple but unique. The bands in this movie are interchangeable with no identity.
It doesn't matter if they are interchangeable, they play because it's what they do. Starting a band or playing rock music is hardly original. It's just fun, especially when times are hard and the city around you is falling apart. You come off like a bitter, failed, dino-douche. Think about what you're saying.

Oh I get it allright. A bunch of shit that has all been done before, but WAY better back when Detroit had a great local scene in the late 70s and 80s with clubs like Bookies and Traxx. There are other bands now who are way better than the crap in this movie, but those venues and bands don't get much publicity.

"All these bands playing in that scene. What do you call that scene"? Most of it? Crap. A bunch of no talent hacks like Jack White, The Muggs, and The Hard Lessons who can't play for shit and couldn't come up with something original sounding to save their lives. The really talented local bands get almost no coverage at all.
Garage rock isn't meant to be good or original. It's meant to be catchy and stupid and dance-able and fun. Its the universally accepted truth that really "talented" bands are meant to lurk in the shadows to be appreciated by a select pretentious few who would resent the band if they did get exposure.

I am a drummer that has played all over the world and I am here to tell you that I am not proud of being a Detroit area native.
The place is a slum and the music scene is a joke.
I live in beautiful, sunny Tallahassee, Fla. and it's great.
