THANK YOU SO MUCH! You have no idea how long I've been looking for this... a year, I believe. I heard it at a concert at a neighboring high school and was brought to tears by this piece, and I couldn't find it, but now I did and it's every bit as wonderful when I heard it the first time! This, my friends, is love. Never fades. Ah. Thank you thank you thank you so so sooo sooooo much! You just made the world a better place :)
Truly, astonishingly beautiful. Just the purest sound of spacious human harmonics. Brings a tear to my eyes for the joy of knowing my fellow countrymen are capable of such beauty.
ich liebe diese unglaubliche Fülle von Klängen im Zusammenspiel miteinander, das ist ein echtes Klangerlebnis...einfach himmlisch...bitte den Text reinstellen...
First I thought it´s a piece of Eric Whitacre, some harmonies sound so similar to the amazing music of Eric Whitacre, it was really the most beautiful piece at the wedding!
@orgelistin Believe it or not, there were composers before Whitacre that used clustered harmonies, and there are a lot more out there that write beautiful music like this! (I do enjoy Whitacre's music, though :) )
Just discovered a John Rutter piece. I believe it's quite comparable to the one performed Friday, however it's acapello but still quite lovely and soul stirring though. This posting has the lyrics which are. I suspect Mr. Rutter has a very deep faith.
Alone for having "found" this transcendental piece I am glad that I watched the royal wedding... thank god I did not stick to my prior decision not to watch it!
If you love his music, send Paul Mealor an email to tell him so! Such a young composer could use all of our thanks and encouragement. His email address is posted publicly at his University of Aberdeen faculty site. To find it, Google 'Dr Paul Mealor Aberdeen'.
@BarbaraGVE A somewhat similar piece, 'Song for Athene' by John Tavener, was sung at Diana's funeral, which also took place in Westminster Abbey. It is also a beautiful piece of music, but more plodding and gradual-- more mournful, too. Search "Song for Athene - Westminster Abbey Choir".
Grand. Like something from another world. I was stunned by the sound of the boys joining in at 1:40, and by that solo line - wow! That kid doesn't even look nervous at all! :)
Wow..I was moved by this piece. I woke up at 3 AM to watch the wedding and when this piece started I turned on my 5.1 audio system and was just so wowed by how beautiful this music was.
When can I buy the sheet music for this incredible piece by Paul Mealor? When will I be able to buy a hard-copy of a CD of his music on Amazon? When is his next commission? When will the Tallis Scholars record him for the first time? When will he receive his MBE? I am so, so excited to watch the career of this staggeringly promising young composer, and to enjoy his music for the rest of my life. I pray that God will continue to bless Paul Mealor, and to bless all of us through his great works.
I must have the score! I need this on paper!

Translation:Where charity and love are, there God is.
The love of Christ has gathered us into one flock.
Let us exult, and in Him be joyful.
Let us fear and let us love the living God.
And from a sincere heart let us love each other (and Him).
