  • that has got to be just about the best looking turkey i have ever seen, apart from my mothers that is- although she didn't brine just basted..-can't get such a beautiful bird like that in the UK don't know why--but they are too lean and the skin to thin so overall hard to get the same results, sorry to say.. at least i can see yours, and remember happily.. thank you for sharing, sky

  • @skyliz1 Sky! Thank you so much for your comment! I am happy you like this. Happy New Year to you! I appreciate you stopping by.

  • Thank You for getting back to me..will you be doing a video on leftover turkey?....I love your videos, so easy to follow,

  • @LorrPatMorr I have 5 or 6 recipes with left over turkey. If you search 'turkey' on the right hand side top of the website it will bring you to all of my recipes. Thanks again!

  • I was wondering if there was a video for turkey soup?

  • @LorrPatMorr I only have one for turkey tortilla soup. You can find it on the website. Thank you for coming by. Happy 2012!

  • The dog is thinking, gimme some turkey! :o)

  • @pinkmacprincess Thank you very much for coming by!

  • Hahahaha She said breast! xDDD

  • @xXxL0V3Y0uxXx Thank you for watching.

  • This truly is the perfect turkey...made it last year and it was so good! Same recipe this year! Thanks soooo much for this!

  • @Stephenie0327 You are so welcome! I am very happy it worked for you! Thank you very much for giving this a try!

  • Gonna try this!!! Have you tried using those oven bags to cook your turkey or chicken??

  • @ForeverGandJ No I have never used the bags. However, my mother has and swears by them! Thank you for coming by!

  • I roasted a chicken breast side down on accident one time and it turned out to be the best most moist chicken I ever ate.

  • @svc221 It really does work! Thanks for coming by!

  • im sorry your hand in the skin really freaked me out lol but the rest of the video was helpful.

  • @luvbites23 Thanks for coming by! Have a wonderful day!

  • 1:02 LMAO!!!

  • Rub the insight of my breast? lol

  • I'm not the best at determining what flavors go together. I was a little skeptical about the garlic and apple cider but garlic was one of the ingredients for the apple cider brine I found. Then I wasn't sure about how the herbs would go with the fruit and how the fruit would go with the onion. I'll let you know how it turns out. I am following Alton Brown's roasting method and that guy is The Man!

  • This is my plan. I just made a brine out of 1 gallon of apple cider, 1 gallon of water, 1 cup salt, 1 cup brown sugar, pepper corns, cloves, bay leaves and some whole garlic cloves. I am going to throw the turkey in at midnight so I can pull it out at noon tomorrow. Before I roast it I'm going to fill the cavity with fresh rosemary, sage, thyme, half an onion, quartered apple and a quartered orange. Any suggestions of what to add or more importantly, what of those things NOT to add.

  • @lusher00 This sounds great to me! Good plan! I would love to hear how it comes out! Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Can i make a herbed butter out of the rub you used for the inside of the skin?

  • @goldenchildslove321 Yes you can. Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Hi maryann can i inject some butter and herbs/spices to the turkey after brine it? And can i use beer, white wine or apple juice with the brine solution???

  • @kagomeshygirl Hi there! I don't think you need to inject a brined turkey as the meat is already quite moist. I guess if you wanted to it would be fine. As for the beer, wine or apple juice - yes! You can go ahead and add any of them to the brine for a different flavor. Thanks for coming by and happy Thanksgiving!

  • I have been reading about how to brine and roast a turkey for the past two days and I have read so much conflicting information. One person said to brine the turkey for 72 hours, another said for no longer than 12 hours. Some people say cook it till its 165, you say 175 and one person said 161. I hear breast side down, breast side up, start it at 500 for 30 minutes and then 350 for another 1.5 - 2.5 hours depending on size, cover it, don't cover it ect ect ect... Im so confused.

  • @lusher00 Everyone has a different method, obviously! I cook mine like this and end up with some very moist and flavorful meat! Good luck with whichever one you decide to follow. Thanks for coming by!

  • @pastryparrot1hey mary ann! i was wondering if you could do a stuffing vid for thanksgiving if you haven't alreaydy, see im helping my grandma cook the feast this year and i'm on stuffing duty. thank you!

  • @goedertlord234 I have a video on apple sausage stuffing that is great. Happy cooking! Take care and have a great Thanksgiving!

  • @lusher00 Hi Lusher, I have always had great luck w/ Mary Ann's recipes & this turkey looks amazing too! Here's a hint to add to your 'turkey knowledge"...When you take a turkey out of the oven at (say for example) 165, it continues to cook for 15 mins. For those 15 minutes it rises in temp at the rate of 1 degree per minute. So you will be actually eating your bird at 180 degrees...which is fine. & Holding it for 40 mins like Mary Ann did give the cook a chance to use her oven for other things!

  • i;m gonna try this

    thanks

    this is my first turkey

  • @realloreal Good luck! I hope it comes out great!

  • rub the inside of my breast hahaha

  • Hi, Happy Thanksgiving. Thanks for the great

video. I love Turkey with mash potatoes, and

candy yams. I like how you put in the apple.

and other things in the turkey that' a great

idea. I like the dressing on the side too.

    The turkey looks so delicious.

  • Thanks for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it! I love candied yams myself! Have a great night!

  • That really is one fine looking bird.......

  • I'm not a Turkey person, But this looks DELICIOUS!!

  • I was not much of a turkey eater myself. I always found the meat to be dry and tasteless - that is until I started brining, dry rubbing and deep frying my birds. Big difference in taste and moisture! Thanks for watching! Have a great day!

  • Mary Ann, you're the best! That is one amazing looking bird. Your videos should make me a turkey expert this thanksgiving. I'll be both deep frying and roasting a turkey at some point before the end of the year =]

  • Thanks Fez! I truly hope these videos convert you into a turkey cooking guru! Happy cooking!

  • i cant wait for thanksgiving I have to but a turkey this weekend for the test run for the real Thanksgiving . I love your videos...................
