If you believe in purgatory then that means that Jesus' death in the cross was not enough so Jesus died in vain and the teachings of Christianity are futile. Jesus' death covers of all of our sins if we repent and accept him so no suffering is required from us.

Jesus died for our sins, but that does not mean that we need not be purified and repent and confess our sins, as the bible commands us to do these things as well. Our relationship with God is a covenant, we need to keep our part of the deal too.

If it helps you to improve your faith, go ahead to admire apparition. But the church will not easily recognize apparition without reliable proofs. Even the Vatican has only recognized a very small number of appiritions inspite of the strong influence by witnesses.

I was raised Catholic and admit, I never consciously gave much thought to these appraritons. These days, I am very skeptical. As for people claiming this is the activity of the "anti christ"....I don't buy that either. During the Middle Ages and earlier, there was an antic christ under every rock and behind every tree. If you didn't someone, especially someone in power, you declared them to be the anti christ.

In fact the bible says "for there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" 1 timothy 2:5. In the bible virgin Mary has no role other than being the vessel through which Jesus would form man. Jesus already existed before she started ot exist. John 1:1. There is no verse from the bible which suggests rising Mary to a deity.

If virgin Mary was necessary for our salvation, dont you think Jesus would have said that in the bible, but he doesnt right? No passage suggests that so there is no reason for us to believe something Jesus doesnt mention. When it comes to purgatory, then if we were still to suffer, then that means that Jesus' death in the cross was not enough.

By the way, purgatory was a way on how priests charged people money. THe people would pay money for masses to take their relatives out of purgatory. We have scriptural refferences for Mary's intercession and of purgatory. However, I totally understand why some dont believe it, and have no problem with those who do not believe it, as long as they respect the catholic beliefs.

If you believe in purgatory then that means that Jesus' death in the cross was not enough so Jesus died in vain and the teachings of Christianity are futile. Jesus' death covers of all of our sins if we repent and accept him so no suffering is required from us.

@sarah03ful These are not my personal interpritaions, but the official interpritations of the Roman Catholic Church, of which I am a part of. Jesus died for our sins, but that does not mean that we need not be purified and repent and confess our sins, as the bible commands us to do these things as well. Our relationship with God is a covenant, we need to keep our part of the deal too.

@sarah03ful communion is practiced by most christians...and anglicans and lutherans also have confession. Communion and confession can both be found in the bible my friend, as we, as catholics, have verses for purgatory as well, although protestants interpret them in a different way.

Agree...don't worry, you're not the only one who thinks so. I was raised Catholic and never had any problem with a Christian Brother or Priest. Some have fallen as they are human but the Church remains, as God said it would, for all time. He (and Our Lady) also said there would be ridicule, scandal and persecution which we are seeing now in the Church, but we must be strong, pray and have faith, simple :)
