  • Say you didn't want to cry. Say it!

  • @TheCrackedBrick I didn't want to cry ;)

  • MANGAS VERDES!!!!

  • 427,000 views and you still haven't had the decency to change the atrocious spelling in the title sequence????

  • i'll be singing this song in my school's play.

    great song- great version <3

  • This is one of those songs you have heard before, you enjoy a lot, but don't know its name. Actually I know this song since umm... i don't even know =) but I used to sing it to myself, just the melody. Maybe you've grown up knowing this song, just like me, but now I know its name and story, i'm listening to every version, I found an awesome one, by some celtic woman. I'll try to sing it too =), Nox Arcana version is awesome too, you should listen to it, since it's because of them I know this now

  • The normal version is way better. This is crap. And she spells night nihgt!!!

  • @IVYESG I really hope you're talking about the person who uploaded this, because Blackmore is amazing.

  • @IVYESG Please point me to the normal version of greensleeves.

  • Ritchie please grow back your balls and reform Rainbow. You owe at least this to DIO who made your project the band it had become.

  • Ja endlich wunderbares Lied

  • Yes, I think radio has had its day. I like this band but despair of ever hearing this music on radio. I'm naming no names, but hearing certain artists daily only makes me mad at the lack of imagination and taste on radio. I have heard BN only once on radio. I loved the song and could never understand why it was never played again. It's obvious that radio just goes for a passive audience of big numbers. The internet has allowed us to reclaim music from those who would impose taste. This is good.

  • Oh my goshl they made Ghost of a Rose didn't they?! And now this beautiful song with this?! TOO MUCH AMAZINGNESS!!

  • In my opinion this version of Green sleeves is The Best

  • every version of green sleeves are wonderful..

  • from 1590 or something but not "retro". And i know that Rittchie Blackmore has played heavy, melodical heavy. Rainbow and Deep Purple are great. I dont disagree. But anyway, he really can play guitar and Candice can sing, she has very nice voice (: )

  • Love this. Very true to the style it was intended

  • Yes, this version of the song is very good! Honestly there was no good music after 1590 if you go by this =P . There is still good metal being made. I get upset at the comments saying no good music is being made now-- that is not true. You just have to dig a little deeper. And now that we have the net, we don't need radio stations. So go forth, and find good, new music.

  • ERM, GREENSLEEVES? OMG, S´OEPRCEBI AGORA.

  • nice version

  • very nice

  • ....

I've just confused myself. Come Christmas time, I'm not going to be able to sing What Child is This.

  • This is the one o f the oldest cover of the all times;) Originaly song was create by... Henry VIII for Ann Boleyn :) BUT IT'S GREAT!! :)

  • i look at this video

    *blackmores ngiht*

    i leave

    xD

  • Beautiful!

  • GRAN GENIO BLACKMORE

  • Wow. Ya know what? I'm gonna learn guitar JUST to play these guys songs.

  • @Darkfeather21 wish you the best! i'm playing guitar for 8 years and can't play the song this way (never tried to be honest) Richie is one of the best!

  • Voice of an Angel

  • Wow what a wonderful version! =D

  • Greensleeves was all my joy, Greensleeves was my delight....

  • 22 personas no tienen oidos¡¡¡

  • She is gorgeous with the voice of an Angel and he is a Legend!

  • ALAS MY LOVE, YOU DO ME WRONG TO CAST ME OUT DISCOURTEOUSLY

  • Ritchie's fav' tune ever. He played it so many times all along the road. I’m 11 years old and did some BN guitar covers. If you wanna check ‘em out…. Greetings from France.

  • estupenda musica!!

  • love this band!

  • this song is really beautiful!!!! I love celta music....but this band is a lot better than other bands.....the melody and voice of the singer are angelical!!!! from Argentina!! with all my love for all the fans!

  • @SyrenniaLestrange

    A " Never " album ?

There is a new album out called Autumn Sky, I guess that's what you mean.

  • Nghit.

  • yeah boyeee sickness i love it

  • I was lucky to see richie blackmore years ago ,the days he smashed his guitar up , what a guitarist

  • My first love (who rejected me) wore a shirt with lime green sleeves.

  • @TheLueii You're not the only one who were rejected.....

  • There is good music to be found today it just takes a little more looking. I have found I am drawn to european metal, but my tastes in music vary greatly...none of it is "Popular" music but all of it speaks to my heart. I love a lot of old school metal and rock as well, there is a lot of passionate musicians out there, you just have to surf around. But I agree Ritchie seems like he is more passionate and belongs here more than anywhere else. Thanks for posting the song.

  • Uh... this is not actually on Ghost of a Rose, is it?

    *confused*

  • @Qwerty101170

No it's on Shadow Of The Moon ( 1st album )

  • @QueenReigns1

Oh, ok. I have Secret Voyage, Ghost of a Rose, and Fires at Midnight, so I was confused.

    Thanks!

  • class all you can say blackmore

  • The intro is the song "Anya" is it?

  • gotta say, i prefer this a lot over their songs that sound like straight from a middle age feast. but from what i've heard so far from them it seems i should give up on the thought of an album with mostly less peppy songs. if anybody knows better, please tell me about it!

  • Depends of the country... in France, nobody knows them

  • Yep ... forgotten the title though, something to do with Autumn though :P

  • Your gown was of the grassy green

Your sleeves of satin were hanging by

Which made you be a harvest queen

Yet you would not love me

  • pareceria una version de hawai..jaja

  • The best version of the classic song ever.

  • ♡♪ !♡♥♬♡ If only they could play this for Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding !!! ♡♪ !♡♥♬♡

  • This is a very hard song to sing properly. Wonderful

  • Blackmore's "Ngiht"?

  • @smithsonik93 "Night" is the last name of the singer, Candice Night

  • @LTM32893

If you look at the beginning credits, the video's creator spelled it as "Ngiht".

  • @smithsonik93 who care's if someone made a stupid typo?

  • @TearisShatteredMoon

It's amusing that it wasn't fixed before it was uploaded.

  • I love it! Richies playing has become so sharp and precise.

  • i love this sonq!

  • This is a beautiful song.

It makes me kinda think of some Christmas song, but I cant remember the name of it...

  • @DaBakaShinobi "What Child is This?" is the same tune as the original Green Sleeves. The tune for this version's been tweaked a bit and is a little faster, but it's still not far off.

  • the best song ever made in world.

  • very nice

  • hm... is there any blackmore's night song that can be played well on a guitar solo? i've only looked at tabs for "shadow of the moon" and this so far and both seem like the various guitar melodies can't be combined well into one.

  • nice to look at for 30 seconds - but this is an excellent updated version of an old song - love it

  • Ironically, rock died with the advent of 'big hair' bands that were spawned as a result of DP and other great hard rock bands.

And MTV had a big part in that.

  • The best of the best!!!

  • This music sounds so dreamy, makes you want to imagine the nature's wonders and just relax.

  • @missdragonish

WHAT ABOUT THE WONDERS OF MY ASS!?

  • @NormbrettaMod your mind is only filled with poop, and i bet it never thought about what music is.

  • My mystic dream...

  • this is not a music

    this must be dream

  • @prostecap

I totally disagree. There are many different versions by artists that I enjoy but hey thats your opinion for what it's worth.

  • one word: EPIC

  • My best teenage memories... <3

  • love it

  • Beautiful.

  • o muzica care te mobilizează şi ţi induce un optimism plăcut

  • You fail at spelling night.

  • Nice Video, but you typed Night wrong in the intro;)

  • I dig the Blackmore's Night stuff without the singing much better

  • That's a beautiful song!

  • Alas my love, ye do me wrong to cast me out discourteously,

And I have loved you for so long delighting in your company...

    Greensleeves was all my joy,

    Greensleeves was my delight,

Greensleeves was my heart of gold

    And who but Lady Greensleeves...

  • Just one fantastic version of one of my favorite songs...one great group !!!!

    Raymond.....Pittsburgh, PA.

  • Ngiht? Really?

  • best rendition

  • Old song back from the Rainbow days, but the Blackmore's Night arrangement makes it even better! :)

  • @Wajlonis

sorry, this is not a new interpretation of "old Rainbow". This is a traditional Folk Song. Maybe you mean Sixtheenth Century Greensleeves (1976) on first Blackmore´s Album Rainbow. Greensleeves was an old Part of the Scotish Army back in the 16 Century. This are the Routs of this song. (sorry for my broken english.) All the best for you.

  • plus am i certain that there is a riff from a dee purple song in there

    certain...

  • DUH!!!!

  • there is, you're right.

  • wow, my brother told me about ritchie B's new band, he sad it was dark gloomy music, but it's not i am really impressed, and i love the woman singing!!

  • El mio es el 100 jeeje

Gran interpretacion, me gusta mucho esta cancion!

    RITCHIE ERES MAGNIFICO!!!!

  • Ritchie i Candy: dziękuję za tę piosenkę!!!

  • Magic... the same for me, one of my all time favorites... Thanks for the video

  • super )

  • Hi everyone, Nice music thank you. : )

  • nghit xD

  • My favourite from Blackmore's Knight

  • soumyaaymous

Ritchie never did anything as good as Blackmore's night with Deep Purple or Rainbow, the licks are awesome and the music is unique.

Rock died with MTV, it's all show now and the music is secondary, the best rock is still late 60's early 70's.

Blackmore's Night is where Ritchie belongs, making beautiful music.

You'll notice he looks happier too.

  • @Blackislefan You are right.

  • @Blackislefan he does seem happier and I agree best rock 60 and 70s

  • @Blackislefan

especially with someone like candice. not only because of her beauty, but her soothing voice and her great personality

  • @Blackislefan

speaking of good music, dont forget the mighty 80s,when some of the best heavy metal records and bands came out..

    oh yeah,,,screw the 90s^^

  • @bossinator666

    What's wrong with the 90's?

  • @bossinator666 I think the 90s was mostly good for pop LOL. I honestly do NOT listen to pop, but it was far better in the 90s than it is now. ....I think there were some good metal bands that came around in that time too.

  • @bossinator666 Although the 90's did give birth to Power Metal, Symphonic Metal and Folk Metal ;). It's just a fact that the best music you hardly ever see on tv or hear or mainstream radio.

  • @bossinator666 Tool came out in the 90`s, probably the best band to come out in the past 20 years

  • @bossinator666 screw the 80's. Bloody Disco Music. If you cannot rock to it, then it ain't Rock n Roll. Rock back and forth and Roll with the Music. Give us our Heroes of the Sixties and Seventies. The Greatest Blues Based Rock n Roll Bands in the World came from that era.

  • @bossinator666 yeah fuck nirvana

  • @bossinator666 I suppose the obligatory "skrew the 20oughts" goes unsaid?

  • @AnonomysPerson

no,the 2k´s are better,a lot of the old bands reuinted or found back to the roots, and oldschool metal is coming back....^^me like \m/

  • @Blackislefan

I agree with the fact, that Blackmores Night is great, but Ritchie was awesome with DP. And rock didn't die, rock just got terribly raped by the mtvbastards.

And offcourse Ritchie looks happier, he plays with the women of his heart :)

  • @Blackislefan "You'll notice he looks happier too."

I have yet to go and listen/watch Deep Purple or Rainbow, but it does not surprise me that he would look happier.

He is making music with his wife. A deep connection happens when two people so close make magic together. Magic in silliness or seriousness. Magic kept between the two, shared with close friends or shared with the world. And in their case, magic in beautiful music shared with the world. :)

  • @Blackislefan I'd be happy if I was shagging Candice too.

  • @Blackislefan

Oh please ! i can admit that Ritchie had never done anything as good as BN , but don't you dare say that rock died in the early 70's ... It's an offense to all those band ( like Queen , AcDc , scorpions , ... ) who gave us incredible song during the last 3 decades ... .

  • @Blackislefan couldnt agree more.

  • @Blackislefan Rainbow and Purple are just as good as this to me, but fore completely different reasons

  • @Blackislefan couldn't agree more with you!

  • @Blackislefan him looking happier may have something to do with being married to the singer and enjoying a much slower renaissance lifestyle.. don't disagree with a word of your post BTW

  • @Blackislefan Agreed with you.

    Indeed MTV KILLED Rock.

I really miss the real rock, when the bands put the lyrics and the felling as primaries.

Now there are a lot of posers...

  • @Blackislefan have you tried looking to the underground bands? personal favorites for me are Nightwish, Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, and Epica

  • @flameuriel Lol, if that's what you call "underground". They are quite very popular...

  • @nenus123

Popular, sure, but not quite mainstream.

  • @nenus123 i'm sorry to say that they are less popular than i would like, i saw Nightwish and Sonata Arctica in a small local venue a couple years ago, it was a great show but nothing compared to what Muse called in for their show last year.

  • @Blackislefan I totally agree that the best of anything was the 60's and 70's. Ritchie has out done himself here.

  • too bad he retiredfrom rock...atleast he didnt retire from music

  • this version aint that good....people have a habit of over rating...check out the piano version...

  • Green Sleeves, One of my all time favorites. Thanks for posting.

  • love it ;]

  • This lovely rendering of an old classic demonstrates far better than any words may describe how truly timeless some music can be. Bravo Ritchie & Candice, and the whole retinue of musicians involved!

  • i wish it had all the verses

  • Comment removed

  • Well it's not completely unrelated but it's not rock. It's folkloric rock which isn't really rock but rather folk music with some rock influences.

  • This was off the 1st Blackmore's Night album "Shadow of the Moon" . Great guitar fills from Ritchie!

  • Quite nice. With Blackmore it wouldn't be different.

  • You're right Harlekin1957. Thx for correcting me. She's beautiful!! I will lash myself a hundred times for this bourgeois mistake.

  • Ritchie, if you decide to leave Carmen, let me know. She's sooooo beautiful. Her soft voice is so alluring and sweet. Great Track!!

  • @BigDaddyDTA

    Her name is Candice

  • Wonderful ... I hunted this theme pieces many years ... and i find that now ...this is beauty and i love it .... it's superb

  • COOL!!!!!!

  • wonderful song and artists

  • great song!Ritchie is the best....

  • love ritchie's folk rock magical style

  • Ducaralho! * * * * *

  • I thought I had heard this some where and then I remembered

that in one of the episodes of Road to Avonlea, a girl sang this song. I have never been able to hear all of what she sang though. Instead of Green sleeves, I thought she sang something like, my lady greets me. Lol But now I know! Nice!

  • angel - poltics made him have have her beheaded, he couldn´t help it - but he made her immortal by that song.

  • This is fucking Cool .

  • No..it's just...cool.

  • genial

  • lovely candice and great ritchie!

  • The song isn't bad at all... But they transformed it into some Country/Flamenco/Gypsy song...

  • Who's the singer ? She remains me of french Marie Laforêt. Interesting and original but the 6/8 or 3/4 fits to the song better than this 4/4.

  • Candice Night is the singer :). I think she's great...

  • Comment removed

  • this song was my original favorite from BN's first alblum, "Shadow of the Moon" not sure why ghost of a rose is portrayed here though.

  • This music is epic. End of story.

  • @LadyOfTheFae So allow me to bore you stiff with history. "My Lady Greensleeves" translates as "My lady in the green dress" and my old friend Henry VIII had her portrayed by Holbein wearing a dress in her favourite colour. Anne Boleyn.

  • @Pitfossil

    wrong
