  • Seeing somebody of her generation singing an old Carter Family song with this degree of faithfulness is very encouraging! I do miss hearing just a couple of crucial melody notes "Lulu Walls" has, which make it "Lulu Walls"...but aside from that, her vocal delivery is original and fine. BTW this certainly does sound like a 12-string and her guitar's bridge can accommodate 12 although we never see the complete headstock. As so often happens with youtube, I wish the synchronization was better....

  • yes it is a 12 string. :-)

    thanks for all the comments!

  • good job, especially the guitar playing.

  • Very nice voice. Anita Carter used a 12 string more often than a 6 but she finger picked on slower songs e.g., "I'll be all smiles tonight", one of the few where she played lead instrument (Helen and Maybelle would take the lead on most). "Lulu Walls" was recorded Feb 14, 1929, in Camden, NJ. by the Original Carter Family (A.P., Sara, and Maybelle)

  • Very nice !

  • your voice is too squeaky, you aren't getting the melody quite right, and you really ought to learn to play like Maybelle Carter

  • leave her be, she's being herself. that's why she sounds good

  • cool

  • Fantastic, hot damn I start to melt when I see, let alone hear, a female play Carter Family songs. More! Don't stop! I'd like to hear you perform You've Got to Walk That Lonesome Valley, or perhaps John Hardy!
