Greetings from the U.S. I have this mba and love it. BTW - the I/O plate is useless. So useless I left it off. I have the AMD 955 with mine and am finally getting around to try and overclock it. P.S. the TurboV overclock software that comes with this mb is fun but bios seems more stable for overclocking.
@Machiavelli1513 My I/O shield just fits lol. I wouldn't touch any CPU overclocking software, I only use the bios. Got my 955 @4GHz 1.45V. Been rock solid for like 8 Months, passed 24hrs of Prime 95 and some mega gaming sessions. Great motherboard.
@macman2256 Very nice! Since I'm new to OCing, I notice it's unstable when I increase the CPU ratio/multiplier past 3.8. Do you recommend lowering the multiplier and raising the FSB instead? Also, which voltage setting do you change to 1.45V, is it the one the setting in AI Tweaker that says "Processor Speed" (i.e. V-Core)? Thanks for the info!
@Machiavelli1513 Yeah, V-Core, I would do it in the bios though, I think I got lucky with my 955 since its had no issues at 4GHz while I have read some people can't get past 3.8. I've got a geekbench score at 4.5GHz. I'm sure with better cooling I could get stable well past 4GHz.
I cant mount the stock cpu cooler and i have an aftermarker one and it just about fitted but couldn't turn the lever. im goning to return that one as cant fit my ram in.
@deadly1010P Assuming you have the original backplate/mount the stock cpu cooler should fit perfectly. I've had several AMD systems in the past 5-6 years and the mount has been the same on all of them.
@macman2256 - I figured it out. I had to take out the whole plastic bracket thing and i cliped it on to see if it worked and it did. I then put it back without screwing it all the way and cliped it on and tightened the scews slowly. I am using my stock amd cooler and goind to "try" and send back my corsair a50 as is too big and covers dual channel ram slots. Or I might try and sell my corsair vengence 2x4GB later to get a ram with no stupid long heatsink
@mrjacksepticeye Nice! I get about the same idle temp (Can't use Cool & Quiet) with the V6GT @4Ghz load is around 54ish at about 22 Degrees in the room.
@mrjacksepticeye Sweet, have you tried overclocking the CPU? I got mine to 4.5GHz stable enough to run Geekbench. I leave it at 4GHz for 24/7 stability.
@nicotugz The backplate for the I/O is terrible, you will most likely have to bend some of the pins around to stop them poking into the ports, and it doesn't line up terribly well. But this board has been rock solid so far, overclocks pretty well too :)
@macman2256 hmmm... hopefully thats not much of a hassle for me.
what about memory i bought it where it says it supports 1600 mhz ddr3 but ive been looking around and i only see ppl running it at 1333mhz.... any info on such?
@macman2256 oh so i guess i would have to manually change it as well for my kingston hyper x 1600MHz... but... i hope in the long run after i fully put the pieces together its worth it!!!
@nicotugz No, I have the Cooler Master V6GT, I doubt the stock cooler could handle a 4Ghz overclock, although the 955 came with a real beefy stock cooler.

Is the I/O plate useless? I am planning on getting this motherboard..... I dont want anything fancy... But does the I/O plate get the job done?
ryan4888 7 months ago
@ryan4888 It gets the job done, its just flimsy and you sometimes have to bend some of the contacts to make it fit properly
macman2256 7 months ago
@TheHugeTuber Sounds good dude! I would have gotten the 6 core but I decided on the 955 and a decent psu & case.
macman2256 7 months ago
@TheHugeTuber I will be upgrading to a 8Core Bulldozer from AMD sometime this year, so the quad is fine for now, and cheap too!

hey.... where I put the ram "dual channel 4gb "? in blue or black?or in any place?
XPTOPOWER 9 months ago
@XPTOPOWER Shouldn't matter, but use the 1st & 3rd Slot for your 2 sticks of ram. Then if or when you upgrade you install the ram in the other slots.

it the mounting bracket messed up on mine?

@IGameSomeTimez Intel core needs an intel board.... amd "core" needs an amd board
nicotugz 10 months ago
@IGameSomeTimez Yes, It says on the Spec sheet for that board that it will accept 2nd Gen Core i7 Processors that use the 1155 Socket
macman2256 10 months ago
@IGameSomeTimez No, this is an AMD Board, you need an Intel board with the appropriate socket for the Core i7

@KoochosDubStep Should be fine.
macman2256 10 months ago
bought this board hopefully i have no problems with it... You said the main problem with that board is the faceplate for the connections. How so?

@nicotugz I'm running Corsair XMS3 1600MHz ram, I had to set the voltage and tell it to run at 1600MHz in the bios

@nicotugz I currently use a AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2Ghz Quad Core overclocked to 4Ghz.

hartk5353 10 months ago
@hartk5353 Wouldn't have a clue.
macman2256 10 months ago
@macman2256 lol could it be a USB 3.0 Header??
hartk5353 10 months ago
@hartk5353 Don't think so, USB headers on M/Boards are very new, Might be a com port of FW header
