@ninmutua you need to understand that the bus driver was just doing her job. if you obey your bus driver, there wont be a problem. if you disobey your bus driver, your making a stupid mistake, like in your case, "kicking the drivers fuckin ass" can sentence you up to 6 months of juvenile detention, and months on anger management that can potentially ruin your chances of getting to a good college / job.
think of it as this way: if you disobey a cop, he / she will make you eat shit.

live near seattle and at my school district, there r conduct reports. that's what my bus driver threatens the kids on. but she's pretty nice, at least 2 me. i think another student once said they wanted to get out, and driver said she wished she could have since that was what they wanted. but they can't! if this was at school, nobody can keep anybody in it's like hostage. if they want to leave, they can. guess on a bus ride it's different.

Wow, I can't believe so many of you are defending the girl. This is why kids nowadays have so many problems, the bus driver probably wanted more then anything for the kid to get off the bus but if she got hurt on the way too wherever she was going the bus driver would get prosecuted for negligence. Defending this is the reason kids today are becoming uncontrollabe. Kids do not know what is best for them, adults with 20 years experience and fully developed brains do.

@Druffmaul LOL the justification element is there for shop keepers and security gaurds not for bus drivers. This bus driver has no power to reject an individuals right to liberty. If this student wanted of the bus the bus driver has to let her off, she is meant to do her best to keep her either on the bus or wait with her until the parents come. However the driver has no power to do what she did in this video if the student wanted off ultimately the driver has to let her off.

You can argue the wording of the law all you want. Fact is, the court made their decision, and they sided with the driver. Not the uppity little brat.

This girl had no reasonable means of escape and WAS being detained as the driver was acting like a guard not letting her off and using force.All they need to do is appeal it to a higher court and get a jury.

I have children that are extremely respectful and obediant. They are kind and come to me about EVERYTHING, because they know, regardless of all else I've got their back, they can trust me to protect them. Whether the Adult was wrong or not the kid should have sat down, shut up and waited till she got home and her and her Parents taken it back to the school and have it dealt with. Unfortunately things have swung way to far in the other direction. Children have rights of coarse they do. So do parents.

from what I understand, Sammy Taylor wanted to get off the bus in order to show her power and be rebellious - she wasn't happy that the driver asked her to quiet down in front of her friends and felt that she had to do something defiant to keep her face.

Sammy Taylor was 15 years old in this video. I would say that a 15 year old person with a normal IQ should know that they're not supposed to get off the school bus when it is not her stop. But she chose to get into a conflict with an adult in order to look tough in front of her friends. It is not a maturity issue. It is a moral issue. The driver, on the other hand, probably shouldn't have touched her. Instead, she should have just explained to the student why she needed to stay seated and then call or help when she continue to refuse to sit down.
