They would have made such a lovely married couple if theyd've stayed together. After she died he had 6 red roses put on her grave 3 times a week until he died. Which is more then any of her other husbands ever did for her.
Not to mention he claimed her body after death and arranged and paid for her funeral. He also never talked about her to the press afterward or exploited her (unlike her first husband and Miller, who even wrote a play AFTER THE FALL which puts her in a bad light) nor did Dimaggio ever remarry. It was said up to his death in 1999 that he always carried a torch for her long after her candle had blown out. So poetic.
