Interpreter for Online Speaking Presentation Course?

You could take course at other online course with ASL user friendly and then transfer your credit? or take 3 week summer course at Gallaudet, Ohlone, CSUN, or NTID which ever fits best for you and then transfer the credit? just my wild two cent thoughts.

Camtasia Studio is a shockwave video app you can use to upload videos (like this one) and add closed captions to them. The captions can be timed to correlate with your signs, to show the "flow" of your speech.

Hmmmm don't know if it's possible to somehow use VRI (not to be confused with VRS) but if the teacher and student have web cams then seems it should be doable for VRI to be set up...perhaps the college should contact some agencies that have VRI service.

However I will be using TypeWell, a transcription service in college.

In your case, I'm not sure if TypeWell would help any...

Is your interpreter a teacher? I don't quite understand your question. I do know that you if your using a interpreter they should have just as much knowledge or more than you, for you to use them. Does that make sense? Otherwise they are only translating and the meanings are lost both ways.

No, I'm attending an online college and I am rquired to take SPK201 and SPK401 (public presentations) for my bachelor's degree. The courses are taught by hearing teachers with webcam.

Since it's not done in a formal classroom where I would typically have an interpreter, I was wondering how this could be done.

Baker is looking into this right now and will get back to me on how we could approach this. Not quite sure how we can get an interpreter for this course yet.

My suggestion would be to ask the college to have a teacher that is very versed in ASL teach you. Having an interpreter will not help if they don't know how to teach the material. Good Luck and I hope they find someone to help.

As I've said, the courses are taught by hearing teachers - as of now, there are no ASL instructors except for ASL classes on ground.

I did offer on teaching that course when I get my Master's degree. ;)

I would be almost sure that because of laws implemented ADA (?), they by law would have to supply you with a teacher versed in ASL, but only if you know your rights and request it.
