  • i used to hate these guys but years later i go back and listen to them and its far better than almost any music coming out now that nickelback shit and breaking benjamin shit just suck this has a lot more musical talent to it

  • This song was one of the best endings ever.

  • Great song. Great band. Great album. Bad bad video. Why does Ian's shirt change back and forth from black to white every shot? Big stage, no audience. Such a product of the time period. I would have shot this in a small club with a real audience and no costume changes.

  • Best guitarist that ever lived.

  • 53 people had their loved removed

  • @UBERGEEKZILLA LOL!

  • Not so much his looks but he has the essence of Johnny Depp, Jim Morrison mixed with a lil bit of Tim Curry (rocky horror lol)

  • @ 0:52...gratuitous crotch-shot...dude definitely 'dresses to the right'. THe poor camera man musta gone home and taken a shower after this shoot...

  • Yes Travis....or the name of a divorce lawyer, lol. Great tune, great band!!

  • RIOT!!!

  • Ian Astbury has awesome skills both in singing and changing clothes in blink of an eye.

  • I like The Puffy Shirt.

  • @coketherealthing Seinfeld episode Haha

  • quem nao gosto vai da o cu

  • ei, google e youtube, VÃO TOMAR NO CÚ

  • Ian Astbury is pure sex. It was impossible to take your eyes off of him when he was on the stage.

  • @marylu1019 unfortunately I remember seeing him in night clubs with very young girls: it was creepy

  • the wall of speakers would desinigrate my house, this song is pure power!!!!

  • I love the song but.... why do they think that we want to see crotch shots of the guitarist? A bit much! But still love the song!

  • Why don't people dress like that nowadays?

  • @mattnorthrnable Because people feel they need to conform and blend in,an anonymous, bland existence to nowhere.

  • @mattnorthrnable They are boring and less individual nowadays.

  • @Haassan1 oi! if you dont appreciate good music, go somewhere else.

  • gay.

  • @Haassan1 you are the gaay there go anywhere

  • I have amps, they go to 11.

  • this is the way rock should be presented in a video i loved this clip when i first saw it and it still blows me away..used to relate this to my ex wife when things went bad she was a love removal machine..

  • Its the poofy shirt!! From seinfeld!

  • @billyanhiers hahahaha! i just watched that episode yesterday haha. so true

  • ..............

  • check this one!

  • I always think this song sounds very similar to 'Start me Up' by the Rolling Stones!

  • c est cool

  • I'm not usually one for long hair on guys, but damn. Ian Astbury's hair in this video is wild!

  • This guy wears like 50 god damn shirts in one music video.

  • Yay-ya!

  • The entire album is absolute!! A bench mark. A standard! So different from what was going on at the time.

  • I reminds me of their shows I saw in Montreal in the late '80s... They were great!

  • the cult is so coll

  • Comment removed

  • Why did he fucking kick my energy drink off the stage? Dick!!!

  • can't believe Billy Duffy wasn't on RollingStones 100 greatest guitarist list??????

    the cult still rocks!!!!!

  • Oliver Stone offered the role of Jim Morrison in The Doors to Astbury but Astbury wave Stone off because he said Morrison wrote ridiculously juvenile poetry sometime. Val Kilmer took the role as he like drug-poetry and called it "lovely, just lovely".

  • @11xzxzxz Than he sang with The Doors of the 21st Century with Ray! LOL

  • @Dokkenfan88 Yeah great!

  • @Dokkenfan88 Yes and did a superb job....(So I heard...)

  • such a classic and not a bit like "start it up" by the stones

  • I think Love Removal Machine would be a great band name.

  • @travisnealtodd70 i was thinking about that! =D

  • @travisnealtodd70 I agree...

  • 50 people prefer justin bieber

  • @kathrynj60 you have to be that person that mentions THAT name

  • @flahr1 yep sorry :(

  • 2:21

Iconic moment in rock n roll history right there

  • Ian is too good looking....Makes me ashamed to look in the mirror.

  • Yeah, it's kind of like some Rolling Stones music, except it doesn't suck.

  • D shit:)

  • ive always wanted to dance like ian

  • Eddie Cochran, Roger Daltrey, John Kay, Jim Morrison, Ian Astbury -- some of Rock's best front-men.

  • When this tune first came out, I had the title painted on the sides of my Panhead's Sporster gas tank (since my bike cost me a couple of girlfriends). This tune has always reminded me of a column of righteous choppers powering down the highway. One word says it all: "BOOGIE!" Regarding the kick-out-the-jams factor, this tune is up there with Alice Cooper's Long Way To Go.

  • Keith Richards likes this riff.

  • @Dashooter911 start me up?

  • @serioussam40 sounds like most of Keith Richards riffs

  • @Dashooter911 listen to.. start me up.. then!

  • anyone know of any bands today with this much of a hard rock edge? can't think of one =/

  • @BCraingirl There are a chosen few, but, they are getting along. As long as they can still kick out the jams, then, who cares about age? This tune is King Tone!

  • @mickeymousebiker1okay, but I really didn't say anything about their age, I just wondered what new bands today have the same presence as The Cult.

  • Anyone notice throughout the vi"DIO" their clothes and instruments change back and forth a lot.ROCK ON!!!!!

  • Just LOVE the riff to this song! So raw and powerful!

  • My favorite song from The Cult.ROCK ON!!!!!!!

  • Once upon a time, there was an enchated forest... SKIP! SKIP! SKIP! CLIC CLIC CLIC!...

  • WHAT A FUNKY ASS SONG!

  • 'Electric' is such a classic, underrated, rock album. Timeless. Unlike the band's appearance here and the 'arena rock' trappings of the video.

  • "LOVE" - "NIRVANA" - "MEDICINE TRAIN" - "WILD HEARTED SON" - "WILD FLOWER'..............BILLY DUFFY DOESN'T GET ENOUGH CREDIT FOR COMMING UP WITH THESE GREAT RIFFS !!!!!!

  • Wow! Hard to believe this is the same band that did "She Sells Sanctuary"! I guess they changed with the times.

  • @swstryker The Cult practically reinvented themselves with every album. And most of their albums are awesome.

  • Goosebumps everytime when we jumps off the steps singing "Baby, baby, baby, baby, I fell from the sky!"

  • adorooooo...miguel

  • Saltshaker?

  • @rattlecan666 soul shaker, dammit

  • @rattlecan666 Soul Stealer....is what he says...

  • //// I WAS THERE THAT NIGHT 1986 MONTREAL VERDUN AUDITORIUM,,, BACK-UP- BAND GUNS/ ROSE/ WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not gonna lie, you can totally tell where Fran Drescher got the look for The Nanny at 1:21.

  • ?...@1:27, no coat, @ 1:30 , coat ! without missing a beat. these guys are scary cool....love em,always have.

  • This drummer was so much better than Matt Sorum....is this drummer haggis? The one started the Four Horsemen, if memory serves?

  • @decristo1021 Haggis was the bassist when they went on tour for this album. the drummer here is Les Warner. He also did the "Peace" sessions with them (prior to Electric). Check out Zap City and Love Trooper.

  • @Nominay Here is a partial list of drummers who have played with The Cult. Mark Brzezicki played on the "Love" album. Les Warner played on the "Love" tour and the "Electric" album. He previously played with Julian Lennon, Randy California and Johnny Thunders. Mickey Curry played on the "Sonic Temple" and "Ceremony" albums. He is currently playing with Bryan Adams. Matt Sorum drummed on the "Sonic Temple" tour and "Beyond Good and Evil" album. He left to join Guns 'N Roses then Velvet Revolver.

  • @Jefgg Brzezicki is my fave ... that dude was just perfect.

  • @Nominay If I had to pick a favorite Cult drummer it would probably be Matt Sorum. The guy absolutely crushes on drums. I also like Nigel Preston who played on the "Death Cult" EP and "Dreamtime" album. He was fired for heroin addiction. He passed away in 1992 at the age of 28. The Cult really did go through more drummers than Spinal Tap. But I don't think The Cult ever lost a drummer to spontaneous human combustion ... yet.

  • @Jefgg They were often charmed with the appropriate drummer for the right time (Nigel - Dreamtime, Les - Electric). It's a shame they couldn't have stuck with someone though. And I wish The Cult, particularly Ian, had been infused with positive stability like Bono and U2. That would've prevented Jamie from leaving and The Cult losing their way. Too bad Ian has suffered from personal issues. My heart goes out to anyone who struggles with depression, alcoholism, etc.

  • @Nominay The Cult were really a duo, not a group. And they had a lot in common with Spinal Tap. Ian and Billy have even joked about their similarities to Spinal Tap. When Jamie left The Cult it was like Derek Smalls leaving Spinal Tap. Ian and Billy needed Jamie and producers to play referee between them.

  • @Jefgg who is the drummer in this video?

  • @cn854 I think Les Warner plays drums in this video.

  • they kick ass indeed!!! got everyone of their CD's! love this video!

  • Drummers are cool 'cause they can do this 0:53

  • VH1 Nº 74 LIST OFICIAL ok no lo se pero hacen un buen rock estos tipos

  • one of the best bands ever

  • 50 people have not had their love removed in a long time.

  • it's their best video - some real magic here that meets the greatness of the song

  • this song just killed all the fake people out there!!

  • When this was popular I had given up on the hair bands already and was listening to Hendrix. LZ etc. So I'm glad I lived long enough for it to come back around on the radio(and You Tube) ♥

  • One of the best R&R songs ever made!

  • Did anyone else noticed that in 1:27 and 1:29 he has different clothes?

  • @aznarul wow, another acute observer!!! xD

  • Ians voice is so origansl so awsome who else could sing for the doors besides Morrison !!

  • Never seen this clip before - had the song on tapes (yes cassette tapes), cd's & mp3 over the past 20 years but never seen it!! Love YouTube and The Cult!

  • this song is perfect for have sex, party, drink, and all the cool activities

  • Southern Dealth Cult, named after Jim "gimme some death", I fell from the sky

  • Ian Astbury is the shit

  • I loved the Cult, and listened to Electric and Love over and over. However, if I'd seen this video back then, I probably wouldn't have!

  • Seem's he didn't have all his marshall's cranked up on that one! lol

  • Had the Cult been from the USA instead of the UK they would have been one of America's best rock bands. They didn't get the the exposure here until Sonic Temple. Its kinda sad.

  • @cegtown anyone in the us who liked the cult were listening to love and electric

  • @jeepndesert Not true. I have many friends who have been exposed to Temple only. I'm trying to enlighten them though. Im 41 by the way, and yes, I heard Love first then Electric.

  • @jeepndesert This maybe true, but I am 41. And I know many folks who are my age who have only listened to Temple or no Cult at all. I'm with you though. I was exposed to Love first and so on...

  • @jeepndesert I respect your opinion, but I know alot of people my age (41) who haven't even heard of the Cult much less Sonic Temple. They simply didn't get the air time here in the States they deserved and would have gotten had they had been from here. That's all I'm saying.

  • Whatever the comments I saw those Marshal stacks live..... they were loud

  • there's only been to static members of the cult that's ian and billy they write all the songs so who cares what backing muscians they have

  • Our band use to cover this song and all the seats would empty! Still having trouble with my direction

  • @spinaltap32 - Blame the Biebers

  • I find this to be the song where the Cult began their decline: they could not fire up anything to top themselves: this was totally below their usual original mindblowing incandescent material: this was just a rehash: spelled the end of the band really: others may disagree; Ian won't...ask him....

  • check out anthrax version

  • "Now I know who copied my act"

    Jim Morrison

  • so, somewhere between this 'wildflower' and this video they got rid of a guitarist?

  • @Liteboyiam The Cult has traditionally been 4 members, but the drummer was getting changed so often, it was like Spinal Tap. Jamie, the bassist you'd recognize from all of the Love videos and this song is the Rhythm Guitarist in Wildflower. He went back to bass for Sonic Temple.

  • frickin hilarious intro... Billy Duffy's camel knuckle and all hahahah!

classic. i gotta think they found some humor in it and weren't overly serious. : )

  • its not rly tasteless right?

  • TASTELESS!!!

  • billy duffy is flippin awsome. !! :D

  • Plagio di "Start me up" dei Rollin Stones (1981). Non riesco a farmelo piacere pensando che hanno fatto metà del lavoro per comporre il pezzo.

  • here, saves you 55seconds of you're life 00:55

  • @includedthewordfuck shut up, thats what separates it from a live preformance

  • 50 SEM CULTURA

  • they are so cool that they started all of those vampire cult's of nowadays.

  • anybody else realize that the beginning is a cheesy take on "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" ?

  • Nobody can pull of the Seinfeld poofy shirt like this... Best band ever!

  • People that don't know this band and haven't heard their music are missin it! Best rock n roll band ever!

  • Ian changing black to white and then to black shirts.

  • @mapperkevhughes Did you notice the lead guitar change at 3.17 first a red one then a white one!!

  • Do all those things that you do to me, you know what I mean, Boy........

  • Awwwww! I gonna sit and have a smoke and bask in the afterglow...

  • One of the last few of the 80's that kicked ass and hardly made main stream. The Cults Rocks!!!!!

  • if anyone knows alestorm theyll know what i mean by this is where pirate metal began ;)

  • i love this song!

  • Though I'm not usually into old skool hard rock like this, I really love the chours of this song, really great shit!

  • In Russia, we like The Cult much more than The Rolling Stones.

  • The little kick at 4:16 is the best thing in this whole video.

  • @Schichtoe

YEAH you're right but it's only ONE step. I prefer the set of asskicking steps( + shaking with microphone stand) in She Sells Sanctuary:

    from 0:35'' to 0:40''

This really kicks ass :-) Try to repeat the sequence... :-)

  • Thumbs up if you love the 80's hair.

  • i'm a a douchebag but you are an incompetent, like a child !

  • bad band ever !

  • bad band, bad song, bad guitarist !

    New Wave forever!

  • @prittglue you're a douchebag

  • @prittglue pussy!

  • @prittglue shut the fuck up you motherfucker!!!!!!!!!!! or i will hunt you down and kick your ass in the name of rock n' roll!!!!!!

  • @prittglue this song sounds like shit, it's a copy !

    bad band ever !

  • it's a bad copy !

  • start me up, what's this shit ?

  • @prittglue Hey stupid, this song is a tribute to bands who influenced them. Stones, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Purple, etc.. In the beginning there is a play on a cowboy movie music. It's rock and roll!

  • 80s brit rock kicks ass!!!!!

  • brit hard rock rules better than us infinite +1

  • Una de las mejores bandas de todos los tiempos. Es dificil encontras un rock tan puro y lleno de energia, como esta banda..... alimenta el alma...!!!!!!

  • There is no question about it...this IS THE rock anthem! Not many bands who started in the 70's had a sound and KEPT IT like The Cult! Bad ass.

  • great alt to twisted sister and mainstream bon jovi in the 80's great band and good sound

  • @frenchy994 I know what you mean. You had Poison, Bon Jovi, Cinderella etc on one side. Then you had The Cult, AC/DC and Guns N'Roses on the other side. Even Aerosmith and Alice Cooper went a bit hair metal when they came back.

  • The Cult kick's so much ass! It's not even funny!

  • @Oriongirl44 you reckon??

  • @Oriongirl44 they could at one time........... but now, it hurts the knees, arthritis has set in ; )

  • Always loved this clip for the trend it started of having a ridiculous number of Marshall stacks in th backline! Cool!!

  • @firemanmick true

  • acid rock

  • one of the lucky ones to have lived as a teenager in the eighties, BEST part of my life by far....

  • Comment removed

  • KewelJewel!

  • Two thumbs up for the song.... and two hands in the air for the puffy shirt !!!!

  • After loving "Love" as much as we did, my friends and I were sick to our stomach when this came out. I mean, we already had AC/DC records.
