  • im from Socorro i love how you put "Socorro a tiny place in the middle of nowhere" its totally true ive lived here my whole life

  • Wow, I know people from Socorro. I live a moderate drive from there.

  • Funny, those GPS's are supposed to stop that kind of thing from happening.

  • The diverse beauty of our nation never ceases to amaze me.

  • thunderf00t, I think you're in need of a travel companion to do some driving and navigating while you do the filming and talking. Trying to juggle all those duties yourself seems to lead to misfortune and possible disaster. At least, be careful out there.

  • Dosen't New Mexico have the best sunsets?? I miss small town Socorro.

NMTech is my alma mater - I lived there in Socorro from 1996-2003. Socorro has grown quite a bit even since then - they even have a Wal Mart now..!!

You also should have taken a side trip up to the Magdalenas while you were there. Much work has been done with the Magdalena Ridge Observatory - way up there between South Baldy and Langmuir Lab. Fascinating place!!

  • Every road trip requires a sacrifice of technology, though, it looks like you lucked out! Poor car is getting lots of abuse!

  • You could probably fix the screen fairly easily. I replaced the one in my Dash with no problem at all and you seem to me far more electronically inclined than I am. I bought the screen for around 8 dollars, I think and it came with all the tools needed to fix it.

  • Wow thunderfoot, you can tell you have fond memories of Socorro.

  • Great Post Thanks for shareing

  • Very much appreciating the sharing!

  • Awesome video. Thank you for posting.

  • I've been in those parts of New Mexico many a time. Happy travels!

And FYI, that offer of a drink once you get to L.A. still stands. ;)

  • It's not an adventure unless you have some bad things happen along with the good. Fun tracking your progress.

  • Grew up in Las Cruces, a few hours south of Socorro.

  • yes, when is the big debate?

    totally endearing video man.

  • Amen. Totally a heartwarming vid. I love it. You can hear the joy in his voice... it's contagious.

  • Time for an iphone! lol

So, when is the "debate." That should prove to be very entertaining.

  • was that a eeepc 900a or newer? ;-)

  • Aw, this makes me happy seeing thunderf00t flooded with memories. I bet I would feel about the same if I were ever to return to Denver, Colorado, where I haven't been since I was really young.

  • Love 'characteristic desert light'. Yes, wow.

chapter 1: The Chronicles of Thunderf00t the Unbeliever... oh wait, that title's been taken. hmmm.

    ON TO VLA!

  • Kinda wish you would've video taped your car as it was stuck. Would've liked to have seen you guys lift it off the curb. LOL

  • As expected yet another thing goes wrong on your travelling, stay at home!!

  • how did you get such a british accent if you lived in the states? Did you grow up partly there as well?

  • 505 represent ;)

  • I was talking to my brother about your trip to the "debate" and he said "How cool would it be if he went through New Mexico? That would be the best thing to happen to this state". Come to find out you lived here a while. I'm about a two hour drive from Socorro, but I don't get out that way to often.

  • Such harsh, ugly landscape.

  • You mean that's not the wallpaper??

  • Those geological features are beautiful. I envy you.

  • Dear thunderf00t,

Please stop travelling! You are clearly useless at it!

Stay at home and make videos!

    As ever,

    R

  • ....??

  • Watch v=coMQswQHzno!

    He always has disasters!

  • i'm waiting for the doors to fall off the car on this trip.

  • Almost downthumbed this one until I saw who it was.

    >>

  • Hahahaha.

  • You just made me lol so hard that I choked.

  • your'e a god damn hippy thunderfoot :)

  • Happy to see the catastrophy for this trip is behind us. I've been enjoying your travels very much.

  • Cheerful even after a multiple-fail accident. Thunderf00t, you're the man!

Love these vids, keep 'em coming!!

  • careful filming schools! haha

  • ooh no another one of those mighty thumps.. :( hope the car will do well the rest of the trip. :/

  • i had a zire! dont remember what happened to it...

  • Is your brother's name Keith?

  • I'm loving this whole concept. It almost feels like we're along for the ride with you, though I suspect that several busloads of boisterous fans would have rather ruined the whole emotional reconnection with your youth lol.

Spectacular sunset BTW, nothing quite like the desert for dusk.

  • How fitting that a town in the middle of nowhere is called 'socorro' which is a word used to ask for emergency help.

  • Broken or not, that broken screen actually looks kinda cool!

It would make a nice desktop wallpaper or something.

  • It is so weird seeing you frequent places that go often. I went to school at tech, and I often visit friends down there... hahaha. :)

  • Whoa it is so weird watching you drive through areas that I frequent often! Hahaha I went to Tech for school... and I visit there often. Freaking insane!

  • What would a road trip be without you doing something to the car? ^^

  • ......tfoot, i'm starting to think that you're bring all these misfortunes on yourself ....

  • Nostalgia.. When I can afford it and take the time I wanna go back to San Bernidino and make a road trip there. That would be nice.

  • You might want to try a piece of better technology to keep track of your passwords... paper perhaps??

  • Aw this is nice :)

  • I see this everyday, I live in New Mexico... Hey Thunderf00t, any chance you're going through White sands or Las Cruces?

  • 6 stars for your vids man.

  • That's all?

  • Your little expedition is good news for everyone because it means thunderf00t vids everyday!

  • I know! I'm totally loving this. at least one, if not two videos a day. It's great. Plus really nice sites... because of these videos my girlfriend is now set on heading up through the rockies back through the way he came down (from TX)

  • Thanks for taking us along on that nostalgic journey. Enjoyed the beautiful sunset and the trip down memory lane.

  • you almost had another disaster lol, shame about your zia.

  • im surprised your car still functions in any meaningful way.

either take it easy on the poor machine or get ad. revenue from the t-f00t channel and buy a new one. your real fans will understand.

  • Ohh a crushed zia, more nerd porn?

  • Stunning

  • I'm loving every entry. Can't wait to see you meet Ray Comfort. I've always wanted to take a cross country road trip on my own. Perhaps some day I'll get that chance. Cheers!

  • hahaha.

You are like full of nostalgia.

  • It's always funny that you can be away from a place for a long time, then go back to it, and your mind shifts gears, and all the memories are like they happened yesterday. I also have this video saved to my computer, in case you lose it somehow :)

  • I love these videos

  • Maybe I should go to the small city where I was born and make a video / trip down memorylane..

Nice series and a spectacular land.

  • And you don't stop in Albuquerque and see me? WTF? You better stop by for coffee damn it. Also check out the Petroglyphs.

  • In actuality, no child "has" to say the pledge of allegiance. But they almost never tell you that.

  • thx 4 that

  • thats not true. where i went to high school it was mandatory, if you did not, then you were punished.

i frequently did not stand for the pledge, and i didnt not say the pledge, and i was constantly getting punished for it. even the english girl in my class was forced to do it.

  • Then your school was breaking the law (or abiding by an unconstitutional law) by forcing you to say the pledge.

  • its not against the law, my school recognized it as insubordination under their rules. twice a week we had to go to a special room which we had been assigned, with about 20 other people with the same letter last name, and have "personal reflection" to appease the parents who wanted their children to pray in school. this time was also when we would say the pledge in the morning. failing to attend the little "personal reflection" periods/not pledging was against rules. and this was public HS

  • I didn't even realise there were schools in the world where you had to say a pledge.

Over here in belgium, such a thing never happens.

Even Belgian flags are quite rare.

  • i am in the same boat. when asked to lead (someone always leads the pledge) i would refuse, and at first teachers thought i was shy... when they realized i was just opposed to it, they started giving me detentions every time... i spent a lot of time in detention just for not saying the pledge... way to breed discontent highschool!

  • Thought it was a screensaver at first :-)

  • i love that i get to watch your trip through these videos :P keep posting!

  • There's a thunderbro?

    This is big news.

  • awesome : D

  • I loooooove nostalgia.

  • Awh! *hugs*

  • Now I'm jealous. Looks like you're having a great time.

  • this is freakin' awesome. i'm having a vicarious adventure through these videos.
