Dean Ford/Marmalde fans. There is a very active group on Facebook called "Marmalade Dean Ford - Singer/Songwriter", come over and join us in the fun! Dean Ford has just released a new song called "The Glasgow Road", you can also find that here on YT.
Very well done, a nice bit of footage of a great little band singing a truly great song. i had the original 7 inch vinyl single from 1969 and i still love it as much today. THANK YOU.
I get angry and it´s a shame these TV producers used to put these great bands on a stage only mimicking loosing the great opportunity of a live alternate version
@THEMOJOMANsince1959 Sorry, but this IS Dean Ford - This is the original band - of course they are miming - it's a tv show - another hint, should you need it, is at the top, the presenter says "now number 3 in the charts"
@rodballantyne OOPS You're right,,I thought I was responding to that other video,,with the guy with the mustache and nearly bald,,PHONEY AS IT GETS. Go on youtube and listen to the 2011 Rock&Roll Hall Of Fame un-speech by Neil Diamond where he SLURS them for not inducting MANY ARTISTS AND MANY SONGS that we all sing,,all our lives,,THIS IS ONE OF THEM. Do yourself a favor and watch NEIL nail them to the wall about that. I've never been a big Neil Diamond fan but I am now JUST for that speech.
Note the left handed lead guitarist is playing a regularly strung Fender Stratocaster, but just turned upside down. Fascinating. Similar to Eddie Wheeler of 'Vanity Fair'.
PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS. YOU WILLKISSED BY THE NEAREST POSSIBLE FRIDAYïBY THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE. TOMMOROW WILL BE THE BEST DAYOF YOUR LIFE.NOW YOUVE STARTED READING THIS. DO NOT STOP. THIS IS SO FREAKY.
1.say your name 10 times
2.now say you moms name 5 times.
3.say your your crushes name 3times.
4.Paste this to 3 other songs. Ifï» you do this your crush will kiss you on the nearest Friday. But if you read this and do not paste this, then you will havevery bad luck
If you want everything to be exactly as the record, then just listen to the record. Film and television involving concerts and musical performances are as much about, if not more so, the visuals as the audio and the music.
Except, perhaps for that guitar solo, this is just lip-synching to the record anyway (no cords or cables may be seen from the guitars into amps).
@gymnastix This was actually done rather well, the primitive technology considered. And no amount of hokey or experimental video play may really ruin a killer of a good song such as this.
What I'd like to know is--from which (seemingly British or Brit-territorial) TV program this musical segment was extracted?
I disgareee with those who say the video effects ruin this (or any such) video. This is great to see, how the earlier days of broadcasting were experimenting with techniques that would be perfected by the era of MTV music video.
Besides, usually such effects were intercut during extended guitar solos and during breaks/bridges (the most boring and/or non-interesting parts) of the songs, when it was appropriate, before coming back into the verse and hookier parts of a performance.
@markrjg Who wants to look at them? You cannot be serious! This is rock/pop history! If you don't want to look at them then call up your local oldies radio station and request the song. Why are you on youtube if you don't want to look at them?
Great song...thanks for posting this video. It's almost perfect except the missing first half of the last verse at 2:30. Still very cool to see this alternate version that was well directed.
@therealnattysurf this was the U.S. released version with the guitar solo (even though it lip-synched) - it may have been released in other country's this way too. There's a better live original version on you tube, in color, without the guitar solo.
@rreeves70 The "45" of "Reflections" was released, including the guitar solo, worldwide - there are various cut downs, either "live performances" or edited cuts of the original - but the "original" recording is the definitive
nice one nimrod, thanks for this tune , I remember it.....but I would say that those video effects make it for me, an attempt to capture a trip!! Reminds of all that period's cheap high school yearbook artwork! Classic!
It is great that all of the Marmalade's album from CBS and Decca can now be purchased online. For years before the internet it was not the case. It is also great to fine more video clips appearing on YouTube. Memories are made of this!!!
Song kind of sticks in your head.... Like about 42 years now. Love their color video of "Rainbow" too. Turned my kids on to these tunes when they were little. More of the greats - what was good, is good; what is good, will be good. Eh? Music can keep you alive (and happy). Play on brothers and sisters!
@arhatyellow I agree with you!! I heard this song on the soundtrack of a movie called 'Cinema Verete' I forget all about it! I forgot who origanly made it! Took me two days to find it on the internet!! Great song!! still holds up!!
