we did this at my drama place and i got to play Mrs Johnstone which i was really nervous about so my best mate bought me a ticket to go see this in liverpool with my hero in Melanie C + I also got to go backstage + meet her it was amazing
For an American school you did well with the accents. But i guess a Liverpool accent is one they can do. To most Americans if you're from England you either speak like the Queen or The Beatles!
this is really good, we're doing our production of this in a few weeks, and even though we're working hard, I honestly don't think we'll reach this quaility, 'cause we're a little rushed. (y)
Good luck. I went in for Mrs. Johnstone but this other girl got chosen because she sang a better song than me. I was annoyed but they cast me as linda so i can't moan i get to kiss a fitty so.
hey, we did this production this year! Only, we had a lot more people on stage during bright new day. Our musical director would absolutely not let anyone be behind, before or otherwise out of time on the music, otherwise she would eat us...i had a nightmare about her.
our school did this, i am the lighting techinician. i think this is a goood go at doing it but i bet you couldnt fit a cast of 40+ into it like we did!!
I love this song. And in my personal opinion Mrs. Johnstone wouldn't look very Marilyn-esque by this point anyway, because she has aged and changed so much ('by the time that I was 25 I looked like 42.')
It is implied actually, "he told me I was sexier than marylin monroe" "they said the bride was lovlier than marylin monroe" "the judge said i reminded him of marylin monroe" and her signiture look it fluffy blonde hair. Wouldn't have killed them to get a blonde wig...the whole tragic aspect is that they equate this tragic downfall with that of marylin monroe.
Ahh the whole thing in blood brothers is that they keep referring to marylin monroe and yes it's not all about her blonde hair of course, but that was her trademark look and it's traditional for mrs johnstone to also have that look.
Bullshit. There was more to MM then her hair. This refers to a sexy woman. In that time people used to refer to MM because she was 'in' then. So even if you didn't have blonde hair, you could be 'like MM'.
I saw this with a redhaired, plumb woman as Mrs. Johnston and it worked wonderful. She's a quite simple minded woman so if someone tells her she looks like MM, she might even believe it or like the compliment. So don't think to tight.
OMG YES OF COURSE there was more but her physical appearance, being blonde was half of it - if you've ever seen it done professionally SHE HAS BLONDE HAIR. It just makes more sense. OF COURSE there was more but Marylin;s signiture look it blonde so THERE FFS.
this video upsets me, just because my own schools musicals suck, this clip outclasses my schools last show on both a show-quality, acting, singing and technical level, well done! I would love to do this show.
tbh, this is one of the most amazing renditions of this song in a high school performace ive seen. the staging is clever, directing is good, everyone stayed in role through the whole thing, very good! =]

How come Mrs Johnson isn't blonde - she HAS to be otherwise the marylin monroe thing doesn't work at all!!

It's never implied that Mrs Johnstone looks like Marilyn Monroe, only parts of her. :)

ok, I'm just not sure how a comparison to someone who *is* blonde, makes the subject also blonde?
