i think EA is fuckin us over cause 2Ksports now have a physics engine 2Ksports current engine is as old as maddens but they can put so many minor details in to one game with in a year..its not the engine its how dedicated your developers are that show the true limits of your engine
You see man your caught in the illusion now that's what Madden developers want us to think that it's the engine that lacks no it's not it's the developer that lack and don't want to bring in the right people to make a simulation game
@nykia31 Come on, dawg. Moody and Buhl have always been fair when rating Madden NFL and NCAA games. lol. Those games deserve what they get by everyone at TSS; plain and simple.
@TrueSimGamer I was being tongue-n-cheek. ;o). There are some folks out there who feel like they are going to come back validate their own pom-pom waving
It's really hard to say if they have the technology to implement that stuff. I mean they have no competition so for one if they do have the power to do it then they don't have to rush into making this game more realistic because there is no competition and there sales don't drop at all and they make plenty of money giving us the game we have and adding little things every year to keep us coming back the next. unlike nba 2k games where they truely say this is the best we can do but we love it
@simfballcritic LOL just sayin' man, it can cause people to lose interest. This is media, not a conversation, let me know what I clicked here for quickly
They are capable of doing everything brought from past games.....They are freakin ea! the biggest cooperation in the industry!! Once sales drop they will actually improve something... Get it? They monopolized the nfl so no other company could compete for our money. Its all buisness
@jaso83balishag Man you hit the nail on the head. It's as simple as that. No disrespect to anyone who makes vids but at the end of the day EA will continue to make minimal improvements yr after yr as long as they have the exclusive liscence. So we can make all the vids we want but EA is gonna do what they feel is gonna make the game sell. We all want a true sim but EA isn't gonna give us everything we want in one game because if they did we wouldn't have a reason to buy the game next year.
The point being made is one I've said from day one, and a lot of people don't seem to understand. Since Madden 10 when they started "Everything you see on Sunday's" and even in 09 when they tried issuing open challenges against 2K football, it's easy to see that they've been TRYING to get these things right and have been failing. So it comes down to either them simply not possessing the talent to get it right, or them being restricted by legacy code issues or a combination of both.
Its not a matter of EA not bein able to deliver simulation its a matter of EA not willing to deliver. da 2K team are sports fanatics. They luv wht they do, spendin countless hours adding individuality to the players is fun 4 them and its what they love to do. EA on the other hand does not have sports fanatics developing their games. They got a team of dudes wit clipboards nd name tags. A team always take on the personality of its leaders. same goes 4 video games they take on the devs personality
And as far as if the tech will allow them to fix the footplanting and transitional animations.....Or even if the devs even knw how to fix it.... Who Knows...Will go down as one of the biggest mysteries of this gen gaming LMAO
ah, i really want to do a vid response to this but i cant.....ahhhhh!!!!!! lol
But in short, I dont feel as if IT HAS JUST CLICKED for the dev team in the sim department. I feel as if this is the first time they have been allowed to do so.
It is more profitable NOW for the heads of EA to allow the devs to do what they do.
@WFColonel You may be right Fam. It is a lot of opinions and speculations. I think at this point a combination of what you said and what I said would seem to be the most logical. I could go with either one of those situations, I just don't see them not doing it purposely to keep the gameplay arcadish, I can't really say that anymore. Like I said, you can't really play an arcade style in NCAA12 and be successful.
@simfballcritic and thats a lie you can play arcade style and win BIG. stop the bullshit. just keep it real this is a descent version of the game. dont just say you cant win with money plays anymore when you haveing played somebody who is good or cheats. the game aint a mouth old and you think you know everything about the gameplay. you probably seen every animation in the game but you dont know what possible dealing with cheats and money plays yet! lmao. keep tryin to make me look bad sim lmao.
me its the same shit im not falling for the bs like you did sim. same thing with madden, madden is be better but madden12 will be the same shit the full version of 06 07 08 09 10 11 wow. bet money ea fool the world with that game to. watch next year ea shits all over ncaa12 madden12 gameplay. dont use details to say the game is bad but its playable sim. ea has been makeing games for years details to gameplay should been their period. keep thinkin ea likes u. do you believe ea really care?
Those minor details really are not important. Ncaa 12 is a great game this year. A video game will represent the real game it just wont. Quit comparing it to your high school glory years. But the A.I does need some more work.
another ea i like vid. im not a dumb ass like most people. sim you fool your playing the same game. to bad your to stupide to see that. i know you paid for it like a dumb ass just to play online. all the bs in this vid about EA. in one year they have made the best game in the world right. no sucktion makes this game worth 60 bucks. playing the full version of ncaa09 10 11 which was crap games if you ask simfutbol then but O he is in love with this NEW GAME from EA. all i play is ncaa12 now.
Exactly Dmacho78, ppl keep saying ea is taking steps into the right direction when in actuallity they just keep restepping on their previous steps. There is no need for a 3yr plan to develop whats already been developed through past nfl games including madden
@jaso83balishag Hopefully Cam Weber let Phil and Ian go because he saw that the game is well behind that standard that other games have set, and that Madden has lacked many things that have implemented in Madden games over a half a decade ago. They're making improvements, but there are still many things that much older iterations have done better.
Proper running animations, foot-planting animations and transition animations have been in games previously made by EA, so you can't say that they don't have the ability to implement those things in the game. The problem is that they've screwed up the code so much on next gen, and the don't want to re-write all of that code.
@Dmacho78 We all know that these things were present in the previous gen. It should be Obvious that we are referring to whatever code they are using now with the current engine.
@simfballcritic It is obvious that we're referring to the code they're using now, but what's also obvious is that ( since they've had proper animations before) they just don't feel it's necessary to implement them into the current generation of systems. They've been layering code on top of old code for six years now, and Tiburon ( during the development of Madden 12) probably didn't want to go through the hassle of re-write all that code.
@simfballcritic There's no way that they forgot how to implement the proper animations that you're referring to. Hell, they're still implementing them in the last-gen iterations of Madden, and they're doing it in the same building. I think that's why Ian and Phil are no longer at Tiburon anymore. They cut too many corners; there are a lot improvements this year, but Weber may have felt that Ian and Phil were overlooking too many details.
I believe it is possible but, I think they choose not to. I have a feeling that if EA had NFL GameDay, or NFL 2k breathing down there neck they could make anything possible with there game engine.
At the same time it is an out dated engine and in the year 2011 they should probably start heading towards a better engine.
It's easy to see that this football genre has had its worst run on the next gen consoles. We had to wait till 2011 for double hit tackles.
@nykia31 True, It seems like EA doesn't spend enough on there production and or game developers. I really have to question how much money they invest into the development, When Ian Cummings said "We only have a year" It's kind of insulting looking at the resources and money they have but, maybe EA truly doesn't give them enough besides marketing.
It's just a theory though. It's like the quote that goes
"For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required." -- Luke 12:48
@KoldSerial580 Download GamingTailgate's rosters if you are just looking for names.
If you want rosters with no Pryor, and Russell Wilson on Wisconsin, there are some folks at OperationSports who have those rosters for download. Just go to the site and follow the threads, adn you'll find em.
I love ncaa its more realistic on the offense and defense side. I use a realistic gameplan.I notice the people who play that arcade style i beat extremly bad.if u dont understand x and os be prepared to get tht azz tap.
Even though I believe NCCA 12 is a major improvement, there are still elements that make me feel that I am playing the same game as last year. Even though I feel that NCAA 12 is a solid game, I still think 2k8 is better (never really got into 2k5 because I was still a madden head). I should not be saying that about a game that came out so long ago. I do not hate EA. I just want a game that is "true to the game" gameplay wise and not just presentation. I don't care which company makes it.
@jahsmitty13 "I should not be saying that about a game that came out so long ago. I do not hate EA. I just want a game that is "true to the game" gameplay wise and not just presentation. I don't care which company makes it". I have said those exact words numerous times, great comment.
I used to think that EA need to just make a few more tweeks to be great. However, from playing NCAA 12 and looking back at the previous titles I come to realize they need a brand new engine. No matter what improvements they implement, the engine that they are currently working on needs to either be upgraded or thrown out entirely. That would take there games from being playable to outstanding. In your vid I still see psychic DB's, tumbleweeding, playes stuck in unrealistic animations, and more.
@jahsmitty13 Great comment. I agree Fam, I'm not sure the current engine can produce the gameplay we desire. I could be wrong, but thats what I'm going with for now.
Great vid, Sim. As we continue in our efforts, we grow more intelligent in each video. We start to see thing in different ways and that proves we are not biased by any means.
When I play a game like NFL street, I try different button combos to see what cool moves they do. When I play madden I do the same thing. When I was little I played my dad without any strategy, while he would call plays and audibles and stuff like that and I would beat him because I saw madden as something fun, not serious. And that is exactly what they are targeting. Btw I'm 16 so it wasn't long ago
@ladawg81 Great comment. They have been going for the pick up and play lately. But, the strange thing is with the new zone and defensive enhancements its hard to play an Arcade Style completely. You now have to at least know how to exploit something to even play unrealistically, if you know what I mean. You can't just throw the ball up, it will get picked.
whats up simfballcritic good vid and I definitely understand that there are limitation's with there current graphics engine although battlefield three use the animation engine ANT from EA sports titles as a plugin for there upcoming Battlefield 3 game and it allows for some very impressive animation an physics when utilized properly. This makes me ask the question of is it just the engine they are using this technology in or is it lazy development that is providing these lackluster results.
@bdito Great question man. Maybe its not the tech, it could just be the Dev Team. We will know by M13, that will be the 2nd year for the current Madden Devs.
@simfballcritic we will definitely see if its is the dev team. It could also be the that the engine plugins like Locomotion and ANT are great but the engine there using is restricting the things there doing. Not to make excuses for EA sports seeing as EA is partnered with companies that have great engines like the Cryengine and Frostbite 2. We will see though and the coming years and I'm hoping for the best.
they can produce better locomotion, and its easy to edit it in,,,,, they dust don't want to becuase it will ruin the game for the masses becuase of the play style the game has promoted for years....
Ex. a TE like A.Gates no LB can cover him in real life coaches uses safeties/corners etc.. but in madden any LB can cover him becuase of the mirroring coverage/sliding/cheating. If they got real loco online gates would tear it up because morons cant gameplan or know football enough to counter this
@12waterphoenix12 well I have real reasons to believe 2k is gearing up for a new fball. Take 2, comp that own 2k has been in talks for the NFL license, EA has been restructuring their madden team, madden 12 made some real improvements this year mayb for real upcoming competition? 2k has restructured their business for unknown reasons as well.. All sign point to a new fball game. I should make a new video on it
Why do people talk about being repetitive? There's only so many ways to say "this game has bad physics. I think TSS has done a wonderful job of looking at it from different angles and looking at different aspects of physics, or even using different philosophies. The people who make the videos are not perfect, but I believe they usually do a good job and show genuine concerns.
The minor details are harder to notice. It takes a trained eye and the patience to sit an examine replays, fiddle with sliders, and experiment with the same play over and over again in practice. The average gamer isn't going to do this. As long as EA makes a game that looks smooth and realistic in real-time to the person playing or watching during an E3 demo, that's probably good enough.
Simulation is the only way people will learn and respect the game of football case closed. If companies wanna make an arcade game then thats cool but that shouldnt take away from the sim heads. Sim gaming is and should be the standard in this day of technology. Ea sports is behind when it comes to realism because there afraid of losing "casual gamers" and not sim heads. If they lose casual gamers then thats to bad because people need to respect the game. Football is chess not checkers.
@MakeSumCake Except if they go purely for the sim fans and ignore the casual they will go out of bussiness. The majority of their audience for the game are casual gamers. They are a bussiness and they need to make money in order to continue making games and they won't do that solely based off the sim gamers.
damn pimp i never thought about it like that but i see you noticed what i was talking about when i said u have to be foundamentally sound gr8 vid pimp keep up the gud work and enjoy the game cuz its the best one they brought out yet hoping that madden can follow but this yo boy john dough and im out
to be honest, that pic was about as realistic as it could've been. If the WR doesn't think that DB has the hands to catch that ball.. hes going to go for a catch.. granted, the animation sucks, but the DB played it perfectly.. and the ball didn't morph to the DBs hands, it was on target.. and the DB made a great grab. That's 10 times better than the last couple of years of "sim" football we've gotten from NCAA/Madden in a while.
@prospect0802 I agree, I wasn't talking about the DB being stuck in his animation, I was referring to the WR. The WR continue to do catching animation, that should never happen. The pic was good.
@simfballcritic after looking at it a couple of times.. the WR really was in no position to make any sort of play regardless of animation. He ran his route.. turned to look for the ball, yeah you can make bones about that animation being poorly placed.. but if he's out of position he's out of position fixing that particular animation won't change that. Trust me, i'm no EA fanboy, but I think in that particular situation.. they got it ABOUT.. keyword.. ABOUT as good as it can be.
@prospect0802 I fully agree with you Fam. I think the outcome overall was good f by the DB and WR. Like you said the WR wasn't in any position. I'm just saying I would like to see the WR react better, like notice that the ball was being undercut, you know what I mean. Thats a lot of detail to ask for, lol, I admit that, but that is next generation. One day we will see that. The overall play was great in may opinion.
@simfballcritic exactly. there's a huge difference between simulation and realism. Realism would've been to have that WR react quicker. Simulation has him doing that catch animation. All in all, it's a great play, and its better than what we've seen for a long time, so I think people can live with it. Until we see something with Backbreaker's motion and physics with reactions instead of animations.. we'll just have to live with NCAA 12 which thus far, has probably been EA's best football game.
@simfballcritic comdey! your the one looking like the fool. i didnt buy this game just to make videos. fuck my name on youtube, its funny name. i keep it real. this is a descent game. listening to you talk for use tss is funny. you the one with the flip flop move. you talking as if EA never had bad games. you cant play both side an you do that well. first you say its a great game then go on to nick pick the game like everyone else. why truesimgamer gets so much hate huh. he dont flip flop like u
great vid I think you are right because why would they change everything up if they had a plan set to hold things back (other than physics because elite showed us it is a multiyear transition) why would they clean house and put a new person to head it I dont know what the deal is in terms of animations though it seems like they dont have enough of them and the game gets frustrating when you see it over and over RTG is great in NCAA12 but the rest of the game still needs work
@MrSportsking5 Yeah, if there are going to stick with the current engine they need to and 1000's of animations, to at least make the game play out realistically. The end result has to be uncanned animations, that is the future of all sports games.
Their engine is setting them back from their full potential. However, making a new engine is a huge multi-year endeavor! They should take a year off! Oh wait, they could have, but decided not to...
I'm not going to pat EA on the head and say, "It's okay. I understand it's your engine's fault, not yours." No, it is EA's fault, period. They're too lazy to make a new one, so they sugar-coat things. 3D grass, pylon physics, cinematics... it's all a ploy to distract from their engine's deficiencies.
@RelVleDy It isn't that they choose not to. They can't take a year off. Along with the NFL license comes certain requirements that they have to fulfill. One of those is that they must release a game every year.
@12WaterPhoenix12 I didn't know that, but that's their fault for entering an exclusive license agreement. Maybe if they didn't have the NFL rights, they could release better football games! No pressure then, right EA? :)
@RelVleDy There is a hugh cost in making a new engine, but EA has the money so that's not an excuse. But, I do feel like with them being a business at the end of the day they're going to do what they think is best for them. The thing the hurts them in the public eye is the fact that other games, even within EA Sports, have gone to new engines, thats what makes you look at the Madden and NCAA teams like C'mon Son.
ea killed simulation football. they have killed the sim community also. when 2k comes back(which eventually they will) ea will be forced to improved their game. wats going to happen if madden 13 is like madden 11? NOTHING!! Madden will sell regardless. Madden is the Nicki Minaj of football video games, you are the best because you are the only one
@JayMuzic7 the thing is this. If 2K hasnt come back now what makes ppl think they will come back next yr or in the near future?
I dont want to jack the comments and derail the convo but the NFL is abt making $. And the best way to do so is selling exclusivity. 2K wont match what EA can spend so they are back where they are now.
2ks only chance to come back is (along with the petition, thats dead in the water and forgotten) to barge its way back using exiting game theme and strategic marketing.
@WFColonel I think you're right about the NFL thing. The only chance 2K has now is to do like BB did, make a generic game that can be fully customized with all the bells and whistles.
@ 4:51 Like spamming the four verticals route online! :)
If EA wants people to take their game seriously, they must consider an E-Sport mentality and learn from Blizzard/Starcraft. Blizzard takes their time with their games and constantly patches. Pre-lockout, I had hoped EA would take their time, but no, they're releasing a game anyways.
I want to see ZERO cheese/cheats online. In the event of any, I want EA to patch it. Instead, EA does neither and moves on to next year's game!
Good video! But I think EA is doing it on purpose. No competition will do that. All it is, is a LACK of effort. The lack of traditional animation doesnt hurt the player playin it actually may help. In fact for a guy like Phil Frazier called something like foot planting as a needle, metaphorically. Speaks volumes that they don't care about detail. But I think that will change with comp. I strongly believe 2k fball is coming wit some fire next year.
@pasGedden7 2k football will not be back. Think about it EA has the license and even when it runs out there is no reason for either EA or the NFL to do anything other than renew it. The NFL makes a nice chunk of money off that license and Madden consistently sells well. There is no reason for them to not want to continue the partnership with EA. On EA's end the license gives them a feature that allows them to stand out from the rest of the pack so they have no reason to give it up either.
@pasGedden7 They could be as well. I'm just not sure you would go that far with other features and purposely leave out the minor details. We will see though, since a new team has been put in place we will know next year exactly what they can do with the current technology. If there is a hugh leap in gameplay next year we will know that it was EA being lazy the past few years.
GREAT VIDEO. this is what i have been thinking the whole year ive been playing madden11, u see when u play a gm relentlessly u find out that whether the game sucks or not, there are some feats that are hard to acomplish without drastically changing something else, thus i think they keep the same engine untill there masterpiece is complete.
FINALLY u get someone being honest about madden 12. hopefully u dont get flooded with negative comments and people. caz if u say anything positive about it, ura pen-boy. madden 12 has made numerous improvements. is it sim? NO. should it be? by now i would say Yes. but i think its coming. either way give madden credit, they've listened to some of the complaints, and they stuck with the formula of last year, BUT improved on it. its not GREAT, but its damn good. damn good is damn playable/enjoyable
@CardinalJiles Great point Fam. I have been SO frustrated with the Madden Devs over the past years, but when I see a possible step in the right direction I have to acknowledge that. If I didn't do that I wouldn't be keeping it real.
@SimFBallCritic you have some good points.so do you think they are waiting for the ps4 to come out because the fifa and nhl teams have a new engine . do your sources happen to know if the custom playbook issue is being patched or tuned .
@dmx1650 I hope not, but they jut might be, because the gameplay engines needs to be reworked to produce the level of detail we are looking for. Hopefully this push the current technology to the limit before the next consoles come out.
@TheSimStandard You know you dont need to make a video every week but i see where you are coming from. just let people think for themselves for a while :)

So we can make all the vids we want but EA is gonna do what they feel is gonna make the game sell. We all want a true sim but EA isn't gonna give us everything we want in one game because if they did we wouldn't have a reason to buy the game next year.

@jaso83balishag For years, EA and MADDEN said, if its in the game, its in the game. lol

It is more profitable NOW for the heads of EA to allow the devs to do what they do.

WFColonel 7 months ago
@WFColonel You may be right Fam. It is a lot of opinions and speculations. I think at this point a combination of what you said and what I said would seem to be the most logical. I could go with either one of those situations, I just don't see them not doing it purposely to keep the gameplay arcadish, I can't really say that anymore. Like I said, you can't really play an arcade style in NCAA12 and be successful.

Exactly Dmacho78, ppl keep saying ea is taking steps into the right direction when in actuallity they just keep restepping on their previous steps. There is no need for a 3yr plan to develop whats already been developed through past nfl games including madden
jaso83balishag 7 months ago
@jaso83balishag Hopefully Cam Weber let Phil and Ian go because he saw that the game is well behind that standard that other games have set, and that Madden has lacked many things that have implemented in Madden games over a half a decade ago. They're making improvements, but there are still many things that much older iterations have done better.
Dmacho78 7 months ago
Proper running animations, foot-planting animations and transition animations have been in games previously made by EA, so you can't say that they don't have the ability to implement those things in the game. The problem is that they've screwed up the code so much on next gen, and the don't want to re-write all of that code.
Dmacho78 7 months ago
@Dmacho78 We all know that these things were present in the previous gen. It should be Obvious that we are referring to whatever code they are using now with the current engine.
simfballcritic 7 months ago
@simfballcritic It is obvious that we're referring to the code they're using now, but what's also obvious is that ( since they've had proper animations before) they just don't feel it's necessary to implement them into the current generation of systems. They've been layering code on top of old code for six years now, and Tiburon ( during the development of Madden 12) probably didn't want to go through the hassle of re-write all that code.
Dmacho78 7 months ago
@simfballcritic There's no way that they forgot how to implement the proper animations that you're referring to. Hell, they're still implementing them in the last-gen iterations of Madden, and they're doing it in the same building. I think that's why Ian and Phil are no longer at Tiburon anymore. They cut too many corners; there are a lot improvements this year, but Weber may have felt that Ian and Phil were overlooking too many details.
Dmacho78 7 months ago
I believe it is possible but, I think they choose not to. I have a feeling that if EA had NFL GameDay, or NFL 2k breathing down there neck they could make anything possible with there game engine.
At the same time it is an out dated engine and in the year 2011 they should probably start heading towards a better engine.
It's easy to see that this football genre has had its worst run on the next gen consoles. We had to wait till 2011 for double hit tackles.
Shadybest 7 months ago
@Shadybest I dont think so. Look at the disaster that has been the NBA Live series, this generation.
I think there was big time dysfunction in the EA boardroom from around '07-'10, when it came to it's basketball and football development.
There were about 3 "changes in direction" to the NBA and Madden series, over that time.
Not good.
nykia31 7 months ago
@nykia31 True, It seems like EA doesn't spend enough on there production and or game developers. I really have to question how much money they invest into the development, When Ian Cummings said "We only have a year" It's kind of insulting looking at the resources and money they have but, maybe EA truly doesn't give them enough besides marketing.
It's just a theory though. It's like the quote that goes
"For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required." -- Luke 12:48

I agree, SimF. I've hammered everyone who has tried it to cheeseball me.
If you cant read coverage, you are a dead man. Period.
The only games I have lost, or have come close to losing, are to guys who can think, and execute.
Ocassionally, a defender on the outside hip, makes a play inside to break up a pass, when I know I have led tthe ball inside..thats one gripe I have.
The game plays very clean. Like Ive said before, I believe they are moving past the mistakes they've made.

simfballcritic 7 months ago
I used to think that EA need to just make a few more tweeks to be great. However, from playing NCAA 12 and looking back at the previous titles I come to realize they need a brand new engine. No matter what improvements they implement, the engine that they are currently working on needs to either be upgraded or thrown out entirely. That would take there games from being playable to outstanding. In your vid I still see psychic DB's, tumbleweeding, playes stuck in unrealistic animations, and more.

This makes me ask the question of is it just the engine they are using this technology in or is it lazy development that is providing these lackluster results.
bdito 7 months ago
@bdito Great question man. Maybe its not the tech, it could just be the Dev Team. We will know by M13, that will be the 2nd year for the current Madden Devs.
simfballcritic 7 months ago
@simfballcritic we will definitely see if its is the dev team. It could also be the that the engine plugins like Locomotion and ANT are great but the engine there using is restricting the things there doing. Not to make excuses for EA sports seeing as EA is partnered with companies that have great engines like the Cryengine and Frostbite 2. We will see though and the coming years and I'm hoping for the best.
bdito 7 months ago
also i would add these games are not dipicting realism for the same reason COD/Gears/halo/battlefield dont simulate realism...
realism isn't fun, gameplanning and grind out slower thoughtful gameplay is not fun...
coaches on the sidelines are not having fun, becuase 1 slip can mean a loss, the masses dont want a game that punishes a mental lapse....

Campbelldabeast3 7 months ago
they can produce better locomotion, and its easy to edit it in,,,,, they dust don't want to becuase it will ruin the game for the masses becuase of the play style the game has promoted for years....
Ex. a TE like A.Gates no LB can cover him in real life coaches uses safeties/corners etc.. but in madden any LB can cover him becuase of the mirroring coverage/sliding/cheating. If they got real loco online gates would tear it up because morons cant gameplan or know football enough to counter this

@12waterphoenix12 well I have real reasons to believe 2k is gearing up for a new fball.

MakeSumCake 7 months ago
@MakeSumCake Except if they go purely for the sim fans and ignore the casual they will go out of bussiness. The majority of their audience for the game are casual gamers. to be honest, that pic was about as realistic as it could've been. If the WR doesn't think that DB has the hands to catch that ball.. hes going to go for a catch.. granted, the animation sucks, but the DB played it perfectly.. and the ball didn't morph to the DBs hands, it was on target.. and the DB made a great grab. That's 10 times better than the last couple of years of "sim" football we've gotten from NCAA/Madden in a while.
prospect0802 7 months ago
@prospect0802 I agree, I wasn't talking about the DB being stuck in his animation, I was referring to the WR. The WR continue to do catching animation, that should never happen. The pic was good.
simfballcritic 7 months ago
@simfballcritic after looking at it a couple of times.. the WR really was in no position to make any sort of play regardless of animation. He ran his route.. turned to look for the ball, yeah you can make bones about that animation being poorly placed.. but if he's out of position he's out of position fixing that particular animation won't change that. Trust me, i'm no EA fanboy, but I think in that particular situation.. they got it ABOUT.. keyword.. ABOUT as good as it can be.
prospect0802 7 months ago
@prospect0802 I fully agree with you Fam. I think the outcome overall was good f by the DB and WR. Like you said the WR wasn't in any position. I'm just saying I would like to see the WR react better, like notice that the ball was being undercut, you know what I mean. Thats a lot of detail to ask for, lol, I admit that, but that is next generation. One day we will see that. The overall play was great in may opinion.
simfballcritic 7 months ago
@simfballcritic my*
simfballcritic 7 months ago
@simfballcritic exactly. there's a huge difference between simulation and realism. Realism would've been to have that WR react quicker. Simulation has him doing that catch animation. All in all, it's a great play, and its better than what we've seen for a long time, so I think people can live with it. Until we see something with Backbreaker's motion and physics with reactions instead of animations.. we'll just have to live with NCAA 12 which thus far, has probably been EA's best football game.
prospect0802 7 months ago

VersusDicksHisBooty2 7 months ago
great vid I think you are right because why would they change everything up if they had a plan set to hold things back (other than physics because elite showed us it is a multiyear transition) why would they clean house and put a new person to head it I dont know what the deal is in terms of animations though it seems like they dont have enough of them and the game gets frustrating when you see it over and over RTG is great in NCAA12 but the rest of the game still needs work
MrSportsking5 7 months ago
@MrSportsking5 Yeah, if there are going to stick with the current engine they need to and 1000's of animations, to at least make the game play out realistically. The end result has to be uncanned animations, that is the future of all sports games.
simfballcritic 7 months ago
Their engine is setting them back from their full potential. However, making a new engine is a huge multi-year endeavor! They should take a year off! Oh wait, they could have, but decided not to...
I'm not going to pat EA on the head and say, "It's okay. I understand it's your engine's fault, not yours." No, it is EA's fault, period. They're too lazy to make a new one, so they sugar-coat things. 3D grass, pylon physics, cinematics... it's all a ploy to distract from their engine's deficiencies.
RelVleDy 7 months ago
@RelVleDy It isn't that they choose not to. They can't take a year off. Along with the NFL license comes certain requirements that they have to fulfill. One of those is that they must release a game every year.
12WaterPhoenix12 7 months ago
@12WaterPhoenix12 I didn't know that, but that's their fault for entering an exclusive license agreement. Maybe if they didn't have the NFL rights, they could release better football games! No pressure then, right EA? :)
RelVleDy 7 months ago
@RelVleDy There is a hugh cost in making a new engine, but EA has the money so that's not an excuse. But, I do feel like with them being a business at the end of the day they're going to do what they think is best for them. The thing the hurts them in the public eye is the fact that other games, even within EA Sports, have gone to new engines, thats what makes you look at the Madden and NCAA teams like C'mon Son.
simfballcritic 7 months ago
ea killed simulation football. they have killed the sim community also. when 2k comes back(which eventually they will) ea will be forced to improved their game. wats going to happen if madden 13 is like madden 11? NOTHING!! Madden will sell regardless. Madden is the Nicki Minaj of football video games, you are the best because you are the only one
JayMuzic7 7 months ago
@JayMuzic7 the thing is this. If 2K hasnt come back now what makes ppl think they will come back next yr or in the near future?
I dont want to jack the comments and derail the convo but the NFL is abt making $. And the best way to do so is selling exclusivity. 2K wont match what EA can spend so they are back where they are now.
2ks only chance to come back is (along with the petition, thats dead in the water and forgotten) to barge its way back using exiting game theme and strategic marketing.

RelVleDy 7 months ago
I strongly believe 2k fball is coming wit some fire next year.
pasGedden7 7 months ago
@pasGedden7 2k football will not be back. Think about it EA has the license and even when it runs out there is no reason for either EA or the NFL to do anything other than renew it. The NFL makes a nice chunk of money off that license and Madden consistently sells well. There is no reason for them to not want to continue the partnership with EA. On EA's end the license gives them a feature that allows them to stand out from the rest of the pack so they have no reason to give it up either.
12WaterPhoenix12 7 months ago
@pasGedden7 They could be as well. I'm just not sure you would go that far with other features and purposely leave out the minor details. We will see though, since a new team has been put in place we will know next year exactly what they can do with the current technology. If there is a hugh leap in gameplay next year we will know that it was EA being lazy the past few years.
