Guys, I'm a fan of both, but some people here are just trolls...I understand why you wouldn't think HP was as good as LOTR, but saying that it's terrible, that's just way too much of a stretch...seriously. Both offer different things to the table. LOTR is more advanced and action-packed, but HP is undoubtedly more character driven. It's a matter of taste, so just shut the FUCK UP and be glad that such pieces of literature exist...

HP4 was great as well, but HP5 and HP6 were alright, they were a bit overrated.. But comparing them to LotR is ridiculous, HP7 may be Oscar-worthy but LotR actually won Oscars.. It won more Oscars than any movie trilogy ever..

@BeBeAyumiReturns The first three HP films were boring, but I do admit Prisoner of Azkaban was the most well made out of them all.. Its just that, Goblet of Fire was much better since it was darker and kickstarts the Harry vs Voldermort storyline.. HP5 and HP6 were alright, more entertaining than the first three, they were just terribly directed with the terrible director David Yates at the helm.. HP4 and HP7 were the best out of the series

And the first two were well kiddish.. In the end I would say Deathly Hallows is the best, then Goblet, than Half-Blood Prince, followed by OoTP, then PoA, CoS and SS..

LOTR and HP are both 2 different types of genres, hp is about magic while lotr is about magic, armies and other stuff. They both are very good movies and teach similar lessons. Harry Potter and LOTR reaches out to every audience and are both excellent, but i like Hp a little more (my opinion) but don't get me wrong, LOTR is fantastic also

@lortacfan I can only argue that some of those things have been around in stories for centuries (just look at the Arthurian Legend). The Lord of the Rings wasn't the first. However, it does seem like JK Rowling took a lot of her influences from The Lord of the Rings, and while I am partial to Harry Potter (though I'm a fan of both), I will say The Lord of the Rings was indeed the better story.

Similar stories have been written in one way or another, but J.R.R Tolkien in my opinion was the one who perfected it.

@Mordor6121512 I agree, HP 5 & 6 weren't that good actually, but the 6th one was better than the 5th one, my overall favourite is the 3rd (and it's the least sold one T_T) why ridiculous? I'm fan of both, :]
LOTR is a bit on the darker, more mature side. I like that though. hehe :D
but Twilight is just so wrong on so many levels.

@BeBeAyumiReturns The first three HP films were boring, but I do admit Prisoner of Azkaban was the most well made out of them all.. Its just that, Goblet of Fire was much better since it was darker and kickstarts the Harry vs Voldermort storyline.. HP5 and HP6 were alright, more entertaining than the first three, they were just terribly directed with the terrible director David Yates at the helm.. HP4 and HP7 were the best out of the series

@BeBeAyumiReturns I thought Alfonso was the best like I said, PoA was the most well made of them all, its just even if he didn't direct the later ones, they were still much more better because it kept getting darker, and I just thought PoA was a little boring (book was boring).. And the first two were well kiddish.. In the end I would say Deathly Hallows is the best, then Goblet, than Half-Blood Prince, followed by OoTP, then PoA, CoS and SS..

LOTR and HP are both 2 different types of genres, hp is about magic while lotr is about magic, armies and other stuff. They both are very good movies and teach similar lessons. Harry Potter and LOTR reaches out to every audience and are both excellent, but i like Hp a little more (my opinion) but don't get me wrong, LOTR is fantastic also

@lortacfan I can only argue that some of those things have been around in stories for centuries (just look at the Arthurian Legend). The Lord of the Rings wasn't the first. However, it does seem like JK Rowling took a lot of her influences from The Lord of the Rings, and while I am partial to Harry Potter (though I'm a fan of both), I will say The Lord of the Rings was indeed the better story.

@lortacfan A legend is still a story. It was written on paper therefore it became known as a story. I agree that it is a fantastic story, but to say he was the first would be hypocritical. Similar stories have been written in one way or another, but J.R.R Tolkien in my opinion was the one who perfected it.
